In each of the podcasts there is a lot of talk about food this this show was no exception.For many Italian-American families a big Christmas Eve meal is The Feast of the Seven Fishes….Common types of fish eaten in the feast include…Baccala (salted Cod) Clams, Calamari, Sardines and Eel.  Some theories why the seven fishes because they represent the seven days of creation in the Bible…others say it represents the 7 sacraments.   (After the show was recorded, Jay had to have a fish dinner.)In Hungary Christmas Eve is very important and is called Szent-este which means Holy Evening.  People spend the evening with their family and decorate the Christmas Tree. Finally, We couldn’t mention all these other countries without speaking of Christmas in the U.S.  Because we are such a melting pot of cultures.  Our Christmas here can be very unique to regions as well as families.  Each family celebrates in their own way.  And we able to share a special Christmas Story from Jerry Nordun's childhood that you are not going to want to miss. 

Three great countries as Jay and Zee plus Jerry Nordun share about Holidays Around the World. Each night before Christmas, Icelandic children are visited by the 13 Yule Lads. After placing their shoes by the window, the little ones will head upstairs to bed. Because summer falls during Christmastime in New Zealand for Kiwis, a number of their traditions center around a barbie, or grill, where families and friends gather for a casual cookout of fresh seafood, meat, and seasonal vegetables. And Jerry was afraid to go to Austria because the hills are alive.  Wait for it.  Alpine countries like Austria have a legend that a devil-like creature called Krampus joins their St. Nicholas festivities on December 6 

Jay and Zee with Jerry Nordun take a look at three countries and how they celebrate Christmas.  Japan is very interesting.  Rather than gathering around the table for a turkey dinner, families head out to their local Kentucky Fried Chicken. The tradition began in 1974 after a wildly successful marketing campaign called "Kurisumasuniwakentakkii!" or "Kentucky for Christmas!" One to the Philippines where the city of San Fernando holds LigliganParul (or Giant Lantern Festival) featuring dazzling parols (lanterns) that symbolize the Star of Bethlehem. Each parol consists of thousands of spinning lights that illuminate the night sky. The festival has made San Fernando the "Christmas Capital of the Philippines."Finally to Sweden where The Yule Goat has been a Swedish Christmas symbol dating back to ancient pagan festivals. However, in 1966, the tradition got a whole new life after someone came up with the idea to make a giant straw goat, now referred to as the Gävle Goat.

Jay and Zee are ready for a tour.  So what will it be a Guided Tours/  Guided Small Group/  Group Travel/  Private Driver/  Self Drive Tour?  Listen and hear which one is best for you.First thing I would do is see who goes where?  You don’t want to pick a South African Safari when you plan on going Ireland.  So now you have narrowed down where you want to go and what tour companies go there.  Tours can be pricey.  You want to go with a reputable tour company.  Of course you can go on line and find who has the best rating etc.  I however recommend that you talk to people that may have used that tour company.  Word of mouth goes a long way.  If you can use a travel agent.  Travel agents know which tour companies would be the best to suit your needs.  They are looking out for your interest….they want to make sure you have a great time.  Because if you come back and had a great time you will use that TA again and again and recommend your friends.  But if you are bound and determined to do it yourself, remember the word of mouth first.  Then you can go on line and see all of the tours available in the area you are looking into.  Research several different companies for that region.  Some tour companies go all over the world.  Take your time do your homework…Make sure of what the company is suppling to you. Are they supplying air/train/transfers/hotel pickup drop off/tickets to the sites to see/food inclusions and any events.  Luggage handling….Do they have a cancellation policy…insurance inclusion for the trip…One thing people always forget to ask is about the Tour buses. Are they airconditioned…do you have wifi capabilities on the bus. Are there facilities on the bus.   Again….a travel agent can help you with your ideal tour.
