S01E05 You Kids Today – with guests Sam and Max Zien
You've never seen a cooking show like the Sam Livecast before. It is the internet's only raw, live, uncut and uncensored cooking show airing three times a week. Emmy Award-winning host and author Sam Zien, better known as "Sam the Cooking Guy" invites the internet into his home for an "anything goes" video podcast. The show is the brainchild of his son, Max Zien, who is the technical producer of the show. There is no "behind the scenes" of the show because once the cameras are rolling it's all fair game. On this episode of You Kids Today, we talk with Sam and Max about transitioning from broadcast TV in studios to producing an digital show out of their home, some of the unique qualities of their show's format and the dynamic of father and son as it relates to a production environment. My father recounts what it was like when the first family on the block got a television, as well as a few anecdotes about similarly impactful introductions of innovation - like a car, an ID or a paved road. I talk about a birthday present that was not the awesome videogame system I asked for - yet it became the best present I received in my life.
