This creative exercise is called ‘Writing from the Future’. It will get you thinking about your connections to humans who will live in years to come. It might also get you thinking about how you live your own life, here and now.You will create a letter from a human being living on Earth, 200 years in the future. This episode is an adaptation of an exercise called 'Letters from the Future', which can be found in Joanna Macy and Molly Brown's book, Coming Back to Life. The book collects activities that are part of 'The Work That Reconnects'. 'The Work That Reconnects' is open source and the activities can be reused freely. If this exercise is being completed in a group setting, allow writers an opportunity to share their work afterwards, if they wish to. As the letters produced may be quite personal, some writers may prefer to share in pairs or small groups. Some writers may not wish to read their whole letter, but could be happy to talk about the emotions or ideas that arose in it.
