24: TRUTH TROOP DAY 4: Six Words That Can Change Our Lives
Join us on Facebook! facebook.com/womenspeakingtruthToday we are talking about living our God-given calling with other people - which ain’t always easy. Philippians 4 shows us two AMAZING ways to fix our eyes on God. The first is by rejoicing (for more on this, listen to day 3!!) and the second is by being gentle. And boy oh boy does gentleness matter to God. Why? Because treating people gently, kindly, softly, graciously, is exactly how God treats us. When we live and look like Christ, we are gentle. The problem is it’s not as easy as it sounds. So here’s what we are doing. After rejoicing (“I rejoice in the Lord because He is….”) we add gentleness by saying, “I commit to being gentle by ___________.” Fill the blank as you see fit: holding your tongue, listening more than talking, using soft words, encouraging more than criticizing, etc. Here’s why this matters for us as a community. We want to be women who do what Scripture says. What benefit is it for us to know the Word of God if we don’t take it to heart and live what it says. So ladies, let’s Rejoice and be Gentle together.

23: TRUTH TROOP DAY 3: Rejoicing - Getting Our Eyes on God
Join the Truth Troop: truthgroups.com/troopJoin us on Facebook Live: facebook.com/womenspeakingtruthCan you relate to the idea of “spiritual drifting?” Those who spiritually drift move through life aimlessly hoping they will stumble upon God, wanting more of God but unsure how to access Him.We want to know how to move past spiritual drifting and become women who are fiercely focussed on God through His Word. So how do we do that? We. Drop. Anchor. Our anchor is Christ and He is the Word. So how do we stop the drift? We open Scripture… Together. Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!” For us, we will fiercely focus on God by reflecting on God’s character and taking joy in Him. “I rejoice in the Lord because God…”Give it a go. A lot. And watch as God works in new ways in your heart.

I’m talking about the things that capture our attention, what we daydream about, what we look at, what we fantasize about. These things matter! What our eyes land on will be the things that our minds think about. And as we are on this journey to become women who are fiercely focussed on God through His Word, we better know what our eyes are landing on. These 30 minutes will unpack our first step in aligning our calling to our everyday lives and it has everything to do with our eyes landing on God first.

Rather than spiritually drifting, unable to access the significant life Scripture promises, we will be women who are fiercely focussed on God and His Word. We believe God wants to build an army of spiritually strong women who are laser-beam focussed on knowing God through His Word together. That's why we invite you to join the Truth Troop (worst name ever, right? LOL!).For 2 weeks we will open Scripture together. 5 Ways to Love Reading the Bible
We will repeat behaviors that we like doing, it's a fact of our humanity. No one has to talk me into eating a cookie. I like it. And because I like it, it's not hard to do. (And repeat doing!)Sometimes we assume that reading the Bible will always be a chore, something we have to endure, not something we can enjoy.Today, Melissa shares a couple of mindset shifts about the Bible that can be a game-changer!

17: Grieving as a Couple (Grief Pt 2)
This conversation made me nervous. 😅We've never talked about our grieving process as a couple in front of people and I am e x t r e m e l y private. What made me brave enough to sit in front of a mic with Jared was the hope that it would maybe help you.Your loss may not be a child (like ours is) but hard things happen to all of us. And when hard things happen it's the relationships closest to us that can suffer the most. But it's those same relationships that can also bring about the most healing.

16: How Do I Survive This? (Grief Pt 1)
Our daughter Adora would have been 9 years old today. In the first year of grief, I often thought, "how will I survive this? I can't keep going, it's too much." We grieve many things, not just losing the people we love. I think we know we are grieving when we are asking questions like, "Will things ever be the same again?" Or, "Will my faith make it through this?" How do we survive the hard stuff? That's what we are talking about on the podcast today.

13: Is God Enough?
“Why doesn't it feel like God is enough?”“How do I become a woman who is rested, quieted, and nourished by God?”We often find ourselves wrestling with these questions. In a society where instant gratification is more common than sliced bread, we can struggle in our dependence on someone else to provide everything that we need. Allowing yourself to become vulnerable and trust in the ultimate plan – God’s plan – seems to go against our day to day lives. This week on the Women Speaking Truth podcast Melissa, Steph, and Megan review what they’ve learned during the ASC process as they study the name of El Shaddai. Asking questions, Searching the Bible to see what scripture has to say about it, and coming to Conclusions (even when they’re hard to swallow) has revealed some wonderful things to the women in Truth Groups. But most importantly – it has revealed that you are not alone.

11: Why Group Values are a Game Changer
Ever been part of a small group or a group of friends where your time together doesn't seem to be very meaningful? Us too! The results are often less than ideal. That's why we are talking about the power of values. When friends decide from the get-go what matters to them and what they want from their time together, it brings so much clarity. Values allow everyone to be on the same page and major ownership to the values because everyone had a voice in determining what is important. Listen in to hear the podcasts values and how they will be flushed out.

We all rely on reviews and recommendations before we pull our wallets out to make the big purchase. The same is true for our time. Will this be worth it? What should I expect? It's easy to sing, pray, and buy super-cute Etsy wall art about freedom in Christ. But what does that really mean? And how do we know if we are living in the freedom God designed for us? In this episode, we open up Galatians 5, ask questions about a few verses, search for meaning and understanding, and make some conclusions.
