Time flies by and here we are one year on reflecting on our adventure and our boys, Henry & Charlie, get to talk about their own experiences they had whilst travelling Australia. After leaving the ACT and driving through every state and territory in Australia it was time to take the final drive home. Can you believe it? After leaving the comforts of family in the Adelaide Hills we headed towards Mildura and the Mighty Murray. After travelling halfway across Australia in less than a week we were ready to spend some time out of the car and what better way than hanging out with family in the Barossa. Wine, Chocolate and green, green grass. Oh, what a treat it was, especially that we got to stay in a real bed. We never set out to travel in this way but here we are doing it. After leaving the glorious WA Coast we headed east towards Kalgoorlie and stared into a big hole and we even got our hands dirty. However the weather changed and then we started running from the cold, half the way across the country. After changing our travel plans and looking at the calendar we had to start getting our skates on. After preparing to head to Cape Range National Park to explore Ningaloo Reef we were greeted to a real treat. Picture perfect beauty and with weather to match we loved out time exploring. Super proud of our snorkeling efforts all round. After leaving all the comforts of family time in Port Hedland, we get back on the road. We bump into old friends and find not only shooting stars but some whales. Port Hedland, for most travellers, is just a place to pass through to somewhere else but we went there to see family. We found that Port Hedland had more to it than just a place to work for a mining company and we had some amazing experiences. 8 Months! Just like that we have chalked up 8 months on the road. With our plans changing and a new direction in 2020 we reflect on what we have done and learnt so far. After leaving Kununurra we pushed hard to get to the west coast at the expense of all those things we really wanted to do along the way. It's now Ben and Charlie's turn to be sick. After arriving in Kununurra we planned to stock up before heading west. The plan was to head to El Questro and explore but some things just don't go to plan. Facing a sick child and a broken car we find wonderful people to help and get us going again. After leaving Darwin we start to make our way further west. More hot springs equals pool noodles (it had to happen at some point). We chat with Peter and Kelsey from Bucket List Kidz about their travels around Australia. We loved travelling with this family especially through some of the remote areas along the Savannah Way. After heading further into the NT we find great places to chill and enjoy some of the best little water holes on those warm winter days. Jess confronts her biggest fear like a BOSS! We land in Darwin and stop to rest after a massive 6 months. After leaving Normaton we continue further along the Savannah Way. We share our first Pancake Sunday and Ben writes off a set of pluggers. After making our way inland to escape the perpetual rain along the East Coast we meet up with another travelling family and head together towards a new adventure. Ben also gets to live out a childhood fantasy about an old train. After leaving our sailing dreams in Airlie Beach we hit the road to press further north. After leaving the Canefields of Mackay it was time to continue a little further up the Queensland Coast and what better place to stop than  the Whitsundays. Airlie Beach was the destination and the proving ground for Ben's recent boat obsession.
