NCAA Division 1 Umpire Bill Barnes joins us on the show today to discuss what it takes to be an umpire for those interested in a career in Baseball. Bill also gives his views on all the new rule changes in Baseball in regards to the strike zone and pace of play. There's a fun question round and we talk about what's different between MLB and NCAA rules. Bill Barnes has been a Division I umpire for 12 years, and is currently a crew chief in both the West Conference and the Big West Conference. He has worked the post-season for many years, and also has worked a combined 20 years in total umpiring at all levels, including independent baseball, High School, and Division II. Bill worked the Division II National Championship World Series in 2011 in Cary, North Carolina. Bill Barnes attended the Bill Kinnamon umpire school in 1981 which is now the Joe Brinkman school. Bill also served and protected us for 27 years in the southern California section of Riverside as a Policeman and Detective. You can also catch him on episode 1 of the new reality TV show on Spike network called "Coaching Bad" where he plays none other than an umpire.
