What Does the Bible Say About Suffering?
In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss three facts concerning what the Bible says about suffering. We note that suffering comes at any time, place and in ways when we least expect it. We note that we are seldom prepared for it, seek to avoid it and shrink from it. We note the passages that point out that the various afflictions we suffer come from Satan and not God and the fact that they started with Adam and Eve. The Bible teaches us that God is the giver of good things to mankind, and we look at some passages that show that. We complete this episode by discussing the fact that suffering is a consequence of sin, not necessarily a punishment and look at passages that indicate that. What Does the Bible Say About True Reverence Toward God?
In this final episode about things you'll never regret, Arnie and Fred talk about true reverence toward God, not merely acting reverent, but reverence as a character trait. We begin by noticing what the Bible says about man's purpose in life.  We look at several passages in Proverbs that are helpful in being reverent toward our heavenly Father. We also discuss the reverence necessary toward both Christ and the Holy Spirit. We then consider the respect required toward God's words. In doing so, we note that sometimes those who try to follow those words are accused of being "legalists". We discuss what God's word says about that. We cap off this episode by talking about obeying the gospel and the fact that we will never regret doing so, However, the Bible indicates that there will come a time that one will always regret not doing so. What Does the Bible Say About Protecting the Reputation of Others?
In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss what the Bible says about protecting the reputation of others. We note that gossip impacts other people, and many times harms their reputation, and we note that the Bible identifies gossip as a sin. It mentions gossipy women and by extension, men. We look at a portion of Moses' Law that prohibits gossip. There are 23 evil behaviors listed in Romans 1:28-32. Among them are two behaviors related to this subject. We look at them. The Bible teaches that we are to edify, or build up one another.  But the result of gossip is far different from that as we note. This is not a new problem as we find out when we look at several passages by James and Paul. We end this episode by looking at a number of the wise sayings that are found in the book of Proverbs relating to this subject. When Jesus was in prayer with the apostles at the Last Supper, He mentioned that He was with the Father before creation. On numerous occasions, Jesus referred to Himself in various picturesque terms. We talk about what the term the bread of life and the living bread means and the response of those who heard Him. He was in Jerusalem and after healing a man, He said He was the door of the sheep and the good shepherd. We talk about those terms. In what may be called His going away speech at the Last Supper, he mentions the way, the truth and the life and the true vine. We look at those terms. We note that it is the Bible that provides the evidence that produces our faith in Jesus Christ. It records the essential words and deeds of Jesus that we can depend upon to be true. We close out this episode by looking at Bible passages that identify the Lord's church starting with the promise the Lord made concerning His church. What Does the Bible Say About Repentance #3?
In this third and final episode on repentance, Arnie and Fred discuss hindrances to repentance. We note that ignorance can be a hindrance and had evidently hindered the Athenians from understanding the true and living God and His expectations for them. Knowledge of Adam and Eve's and Noah's experiences had been lost to most cultures. Additionally, some Christians in Rome failed to realize that God's goodness should have motivated them to repent. Unbelief can hinder one from repenting. and the Hebrew saints were warned against having an evil heart of unbelief. The unbelieving people of Nineveh repented after hearing Jonah's preaching. Apathy is another problem that can affect one's ability to repent and Jesus criticized people in several cities and the church in Laodicea for their apathy. Finally, pride about any number of things can hinder repentance. Judah's pride was identified by the prophet Jeremiah as a reason they went into captivity. The pride that Pharisees and Sadducees had for their physical lineage caused them great difficulty in repenting. We discuss all of these examples and note that whatever hinders one's repentance also affects one's salvation. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. A change of mind or a change of heart is the next thing that involves repentance.  We note several passages that tell us what is involved in these changes and a specific Bible example of that. Finally, we discuss the evidence that is required to show whether or not one has truly repented. We look at a specific Bible example of such evidence. What Does the Bible Say About Substance Abuse #3?
In this third episode, Arnie and Fred continue to discuss the harmful effects of the misuse of alcohol. We then move on to note the fact that alcohol abuse leads to both moral and spiritual decay. One disregards pure religion since God specifically speaks against the misuse of alcohol. Illegal use of alcohol causes one, obviously, to break the law, for instance driving while intoxicated. Uncontrolled anger occurs sometimes when one is under the influence of alcohol. We talk about that. Fights and worse occur in bars and the parking lots adjacent to them. One's physical condition is degraded due to long term alcohol use.  We note the immorality that accompanies those under its influence and specifically discuss Ladies Night that bars have and question its purpose.  We complete this episode by noting the loss of physical self- control that one suffers. We will complete this series by discussing tobacco misuse in the fourth and final episode. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion.
