What Does the Bible Say About Who Is Jesus #2?
In this second and final episode on Who Is Jesus, Arnie and Fred begin by noting that John records Jesus stating on several occasions that He is the Messiah or Christ. The first time is at Jacob's well when Jesus is talking with the Samaritan woman. When Jesus was in prayer with the apostles at the Last Supper, He mentioned that He was with the Father before creation. On numerous occasions, Jesus referred to Himself in various picturesque terms. We talk about what the term the bread of life and the living bread means and the response of those who heard Him. He was in Jerusalem and after healing a man, He said He was the door of the sheep and the good shepherd. We talk about those terms. In what may be called His going away speech at the Last Supper, he mentions the way, the truth and the life and the true vine. We look at those terms. Three times in John 8, speaking to unbelieving Jews, Jesus refers to himself as I Am. We look at the significance of those two words. In the first five verses of John chapter 1, John refers to Jesus as the Word and introduces Him as the Creator. We note that aspect of His identity.
