COVID Truths and Myths reveals some of the obnoxious thought processes out there about COVID 19. We have Donald Trump to thank for a lot of the myths with his "I know more than the scientists" announcements or the 70 something year old pushing out policy in a "tweet". I hope you like this episode.

Well, I finally snapped. After three weeks of reflection and watching too much tv, I had to comment on the political status of this country. I just couldn't take it anymore. I still may go back to raising children. I'll make that decision soon.

This week proved to me that you never stop being a parent. At any moment they might need your help and you'll be there because that's what parents do...for a while until you realize your spoiling the adult child and you put an end to it.

Dealing with this outbreak without losing your mind. How to deal with the fact that the kids may not be going back to school any time soon.

This episode is about the things we do for our children that we get to pay for when we get older. I missed last week because I was laid up with my back after doing some minor work around the house. The stuff I did with my kids like sledding and other dangerous sports well I'm paying for them now. I pretty much am useless now because of my injuries from the past catching up with me. Wrestling the kids was a big thing. Well, being 58 now the warranty on my body has run out. 

Well here's what's happening. I still want to talk about raising children as much as possible but today I went off the rails. Sometimes, controlling the ship isn't easy. I hope you enjoy it because I may be commenting on daily news and trying to figure out why this world is going to hell in a handbasket. 

This episode goes over my visit to a kindergarten here in town. It's easy to get in when your wife is the school nurse there. I still had to get my picture taken and give the secretary my driver's license. I thought it was kind of cool when she printed out a sticker with my picture on it and all my personal information including underwear size and my favorite Beatles song. The tour was a blast.I also go over how to deal with a 5-year-old. It's not easy, but I do have some words of wisdom. Enjoy.

This has been hell on wheels these last two weeks. I can't believe what I've seen. This episode deals with talking to your children about dealing with police. Especially the bad officers who cause the civil unrest that's going on today. Having a white officer kill a black man on camera was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. Now, things have to change. And this generation appears to be willing to do the work that it takes to fix a broken system. Make sure your kids know how to protect themselves if they are participating in a march or rally. You want them to come home in one peace. Not beaten up by a bunch of adrenaline intoxicated police officers and reservists. It's my opinion and you may not like it. But I'm the one with the podcast.

Trying to get a family vacation in when your kid is in any kind of high school sport is just about impossible. It's easier when your kids are smaller, but high school is a completely different story.I go over so well thought out excuses to get your kid out of practice for a week or so and have the coach buy it all the way. Plague, mustard gas poisoning, and just pure exhaustion will get you the family vacation you need. Listen carefully, this is tried and true advice from someone who has gotten away with it.

Whether or not you let your kid have a cell phone or not, you'll enjoy this episode. For years now I've felt like I have always been a one-man voice shouting to the world that cell phones are killing the ability for us to really communicate with each other. Some kids get cell phones as young as 6 years old. What does a six-year-old need with a cell phone? Life for kids use to revolve around going outside to play with your friends, riding bikes, and maybe participating in a sport. When I was young the instructions were simple. Come home when the street lights come on or there would be hell to pay. You also had to make sure you made it home by 5 for dinner. Now, most families don't even eat together. Everyone goes to their own place to watch tv or play with there phone while they eat. It's just wrong. You need to spend that time communicating with your kids!I also go over what it means to be a father as compared to a dad. There is a big difference between the two. I'll go over the guidelines and you can decide whether your a father or a dad. (I'll give you a hint: If you always at work or on your cell phone you're a father. If you make it to your kid's recitals and games and shut your cell phone off while your there, you're a dad). I hope you enjoy the episode.Little Scotty 

I worked in medicine for 33 years. I know most of the secrets. I cover some of them in this podcast. I think it's good to know some of the in's and out's of the field. I put a lot of information in this one about hospitals and general medicine including how to pick a doctor and who really saves your life. I hope you enjoy it.

Another episode where I go on and on about parenting and my opinion of how it should be done. This one is about teenagers. So if you're having problems with yours, maybe this will help. I also go over some of the things your parents might have done to you and how you didn't like it then but you feel the need to do the same thing to your teenage. Babies, Babies, Babies! Who needs a baby? You need a baby. This episode has quite a bit of advice on the little ones. I'm talking 6 months to 6 years. The fun years as I call them. Hope you enjoy it.

Rewarding a child is more inportant than disiplining a child in the grand sceme of things. This show talks about rewarding children for a job well done in anything. If your one of those parents that sits on the sidelines and yells at there kid, you're gonna love this episode.

I know right away that you’re wondering what the title of this podcast means. Well to put a short spin to it while my dad was teaching me how to drive, I kept blowing yellow lights. I had seen him do it all my life. Floor it and send all the kids in the backseat tumbling.  On my first lesson my father had decided he wanted me to learn how to drive a stick shift first. I had driven many of my friend’s cars with stick shifts so it wasn’t a problem. The problem revolved around putting a 6’4” 260 lbs. Dad in the passenger seat and a 6’ 250 lbs. son in the driver’s seat of a1969 Volkswagen Beetle. It was like shoving 10 lbs. of potatoes in a 5-pound sack. As I blew through 3 yellow lights in a row at the same speed he always did, he would yell some poetic words of wisdom at me. Something I was quite use too. On the third light he finally said the sentence above “What do I have to do, drive a nail through your head”?  Now mind you I was 15 at the time. I’m 58 now. If you don’t think what you say to your kid’s won’t come back to haunt you, you badly mistaken. We’ll cover lots of good parenting skills and if you have a funny story about your parents, I’d love to hear them. By the way, My Wife and I raised 4 children, got them all through college, and now they are working in their chosen careers. She was really the warden in the house, I was just the enforcer. But remember this, we NEVER hit our kids. That’s the kind of thing that drives me crazy to see some over stressed mom dragging Owen by the arm and beating his ass at the same time because he went for the lucky charms box. Ah yes, driving with your dad. The first in a series of fun times with parents of the 60's and 70's. My dad was a great guy. He would do anything for anybody. My Mom was that way too but their parenting skills were from the 18th century. My dad was ex-marine and believed that the rod was the most effective way to keep a kid in line. He didn't really use a rod, but his hand was like cement. My mom on the other hand had a yelling voice that could shatter glass and was like Clint Eastwood with a slipper or wooden spoon. Wooden spoons hurt almost as much as my dad's hand. She had her moments let me tell you. They raised kids using the methods my grandparents taught them. I was determined to stop that cycle and change things. After raising 4 fantastic kids, all with degrees and good jobs, and none of them giving me any serious problems I can honestly say that I win.
