Pastor James dives deeper into this text to explain the kind of love we are called to proclaim and share with our neighborhood and the world.

September 9: We are...EmmissariesScripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21Ambassadors 1) Represent their own government, 2) make temporary residence in a foreign country, and 3) Speak on behalf of the leaders of their country. Paul calls Christians “Ambassadors of Christ,” and therefore understanding where we are from, where we are now, and what we are called to proclaim can empower us to live into our calling as emissaries of Christ’s love to our neighborhood and the world.

September 9: We are...deeply passionateScripture Reading: Genesis 2:4-7, 1 Peter 1:10-16  So many go through confirmation and give their lives to the Lord and get involved in the church only to “lose the faith” and “lose passion” over time. But remembering and holding onto who we are in God our creator and Christ our redeemer will keep the passionate fire going.

September 2: The Great CommissionScripture Reading: Matthew 28:16-20One’s last words are always to be remembered, and Jesus’ is no different. As he ascended into heaven, Jesus gives one last command, the Great Commission, which is now part of the mission statement of the United Methodist Church and many churches around the world. Who are we as Christians, and what are we called to do?

August 26: The Great CommandmentScripture Reading: Matthew 22:35-40When asked which is the greatest commandment of all, Jesus gives a two-part answer that not only summarizes the Ten Commandments, but all of God’s law. What is this great commandment, and what does it mean for Christians to live into it today?
