Welcome to the Barn: Michelle Gerlach talks Dressage
Dressage is something I’m passionate about, and so is Michelle Gerlach. Join me as Michelle talks about the ‘Nuts & Bolts’ of dressage and describes her “Balance before Brilliance” approach to riding.
Michelle Gerlach is the owner is Sabal Row Farm and has been a professional dressage instructor and trainer for 25 years, she has been through the USDF “L” Program and earned a USDF University Bronze Diploma. She has earned her Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals. She takes weekly lessons with author and previous USET Team Member Kathy Connelly. Summers shift to monthly clinics with “S” Judge, Sue Madden-Mandas.
Michelle has developed a methodology for teaching that includes not only the “hows” but also the “whys.” Using bio mechanics, diagrams in the sand, and occasionally her own body, she thoroughly explains movements, half halts, collection, and seat position to her students.
When she first began her quest to ride Grand Prix. “ I didn’t know enough to ask the right things at the right time.”
