Heath Pinell and Taylor Knowles from LSU won the first Association of Collegiate Anglers event, the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open, last weekend. The duo weighed in a two-day total of 24.89 pounds to best the elite field of 216 boats. In this episode we talk to one of the newest teams in collegiate bass fishing, Wabash Valley College(WVC). The Warriors Bass Fishing Team just completed its first full season out on the college trail. The first ACA ran event the school competed in was the 2020 Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley at Kentucky Lake. Throughout the rest of the season, WVC competed in each double points event out on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. Through the points earned at these events, as well as other major college tournaments across the nation, WVC finished in the Top 20 for the 2021 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. Episode 116: EP. 116 - Andrews & Nimrod from UL-Monroe Earn 1,000 School of the Year points with Recent Victory
The second points earning event of the new season was contested on Lake of the Pines in east Texas last weekend. Jacob Andrews & Connor Nimrod from the University of Louisiana-Monroe won the MLF Southeastern Conference event with a single day total of 26 pounds 5 ounces. Lake of the Pines kicked out a lot of good fish for the regional event last week. Close to 15 teams weighed in limits of 20 pounds or larger.
