Placebo & Deeper Into Manifestation
Ready to enrol? Learn to Let Go here: www.bondimeditation.com.au/learntoletgo After a three month hiatus we're back with possibly our most cosmic episode yet. We explore the Vedic theory that absolutely everything we experience is ultimately the result of placebo, in the sense that what we believe and expect to happen, happens. This naturally leads us into a deep exploration of the laws of manifestation and we even squeeze in a chat about dharma and finding our purpose. It's a juicy one. We hope you enjoy!Love Matt & Anna

George Floyd, Anna's Crisis of Faith & True Surrender
We thought that this ended up being a particularly interesting episode. We recorded it in the immediate aftermath of the George Floyd tragedy so that naturally became part of the discussion. Anna also confessed that she has been feeling a crisis of faith around the fundamental principle of Vedic Knowledge: that ultimately benevolent forces are the most powerful and that love will win out in the end. We explored how much of what we have a problem with is a projection of something unresolved in ourselves and considered what it means to be truly surrendered. We got into some day-to-day techniques and practical responses so hopefully you will find something in this episode that helps you. With love and Jai Guru Deva Matt & Anna

Vedic Parenting - Live Q&A Special
This is a special live Q&A episode on the subject of Vedic Parenting. It's relevance isn't limited to parents though, as we’re all involved in raising children in some capacity, whether as family relations, friends etc. I was joined by Vedic Meditation teacher and mother of 20-month-old Indi, Jess Osie. We recorded the session live on Zoom with students of BMC listening and asking the questions. We discussed how to help children find their dharma (life’s purpose), the role of discipline in parenting, how to navigate around drugs and other social challenges and generally how to help children to be less fearful, happier and more fulfilled. Parenting is a sensitive and huge topic and this is just one take on it, but we hope you find something useful in there.

For this first episode of season two of Very Vedic, Anna and I explore experiences in the Covid-19 lockdown world from the comfort of my couch. Very Vedic Live - Special Coronavirus Edition
For this special episode, recorded live in Matt's living room in Bondi, we hosted a live online discussion about the coronavirus crisis. Listeners asked questions and Matt answered them in real time. As always with Vedic Knowledge, the conversation was an exploration of the possibilities that open up when we approach life consciously, and how the challenges we face at this time contain great opportunities for growth. We hope the ideas discussed here help you to find ways to thrive, rather than just survive, at this unique time in our lives.

Australia's catastrophic bushfire season. What is Nature trying to tell us?
In episode six of Very Vedic — season one’s final episode — Matt’s student Anna asks for the Vedic view on Australia’s catastrophic bushfire season. She identifies it as Destruction, one of the three underlying forces that control all things, but how do we even begin to accept that there’s a bigger reason for all of this when people and animals are dying? Matt shares one interpretation from the Vedic view, with the utmost respect for the lives, homes and land lost. And that’s that Destruction isn’t inherently evil. Its purpose is to create more space for more creation to come. What he explains in this episode, is that Nature would like us to learn and evolve through consciousness and connection. And what does Nature need in order to teach us? Our attention. And how does it get our attention? Obvious, dramatic and even painful events that wake us up to what we’re doing wrong. From the Vedic view, the world is always in one of four stages (or ages, or yugas) — Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga. Right now we’re in Kali Yuga, which is the age of ignorance. Matt gives this context to explain why the majority of our current culture is fixed in a pursuit of external power, acquired by dominating and manipulating Nature. This creates imbalances and makes Nature scream. Nature's cries become harder and harder to avoid. It is trying to force us into a higher state of consciousness and acknowledge the inter-relatedness of all things. So right now with Australia’s catastrophic bushfire season, we’re becoming aware that the behaviour of the world is unsustainable. This in itself is a triggering point for a lot of people — that if we have this broader perspective about catastrophes or death, that we are callous or lack compassion. But the very fact that we’re aware of what’s at play, means we are participating with Nature through acceptance. And it is through acceptance that we move towards evolution and better things. Matt explains that this is humanity sitting in its inherent power. Would you like to hear a second season of Very Vedic? Love, intimate relationships and what to do when friendships become irrelevant.
In episode five of Very Vedic, Matt’s student Anna starts by sharing the complete flow and blissfulness she felt while traveling to the studio to record. Matt shares that from the Vedic view, this was Anna experiencing the support of nature. In this episode, we learn that we create our own universe because our experience of the universe is based on our state of consciousness. The pair then move onto relationships, and Matt explains that it is our relationships that create the most meaningful opportunities for evolution. Matt shares that we choose our partners because their wounds intersect with our own. We trigger each other’s wounds, which presents an opportunity to evolve. He also shares that as we evolve spiritually, we don’t actually change, it’s our desires that change. And that we come to realise that our desires are in fact not our own, but nature experiencing itself through us. If you’re curious about the Vedic view on love, intimacy, parenting and relationships, how we choose our partners and ending irrelevant friendships, Matt hopes you love this episode. The often-bumpy journey to enlightenment, joy and living in our dharma.
In episode four of Very Vedic, Matt’s student Anna asks about the relevance of joy from the Vedic view, which opened up an interesting discussion about the often bumpy and sometimes traumatic path to enlightenment. Matt reveals that as we begin our spiritual journeys, or even if we’re decades in, it is common to feel like our state of mind isn’t matched to our elevated state of consciousness. He explains that if someone is experiencing a darker state of mind as they progress spiritually, then karmically, that is what is most relevant for that individual to evolve. Matt and Anna also discuss the Vedic concept of dharma — which loosely translates to purpose. He provides insight into how we can discover our dharma and live a more joyful, useful and fulfilling life. This episode stands for the light and shade of our spiritual journeys, and seeks to close the gap between mental health and enlightenment. Do you need support? Why spirituality shouldn't be serious, addictions & the spiritual approach to increasing self-discipline.
In episode three of Very Vedic, Matt's student Anna shares a recurring feeling of nostalgia she has for her teenage years, and identifies it’s because she had little to no responsibilities. Everything felt fun. Spirituality can feel serious and in some practices, demand a rigid sense of responsibility from us, so Anna asks Matt where fun sits in the Vedic worldview. He shares that for some of us, we can unintentionally pass judgement on other people’s unsustainable life choices when we first embark on our spiritual path — our inner world is beautiful but the outer world seems ignorant. He explains this is sometimes referred to as cosmic consciousness blues, and it’s actually a hijacking of spiritual advancement by the mistaken intellect because inherent in the deepest of all spiritual teachings, is play. Matt and Anna also discuss the Vedic view on death and grief, explore discipline and addiction, and how doing a sacred practice of sacrifice called tapas can increase our state of consciousness. Death, acceptance and letting go.
In episode two of Very Vedic, Matt and Anna explore the concept of deletion, and the uncomfortability that comes with letting go of old ideas, emotions and beliefs. Anna is meditating, so why does she feel anxious? Matt uses Vedic wisdom to explain that what she is experiencing is a resistance to the feeling of discomfort that comes with death — or deletion — of that which is longer relevant to her. And that it’s actually an opportunity to heal undigested and unprocessed emotions. He explains that meditation is the vehicle that drives out that which is no longer relevant to her personal evolution, and the evolution of all things. This episode is a lesson in acceptance. We learn that when we’re practicing acceptance, we’re actually accessing a higher state of consciousness. Matt shares with Anna that when she makes something wrong — a feeling, a situation or an experience — she’s actually amplifying the very feeling she’s trying to resist feeling. In other words: we suffer in exact proportion to the amount we resist. He gives her practical advice on what to try instead. Our mistaken intellect and the underlying forces that control all things.
In episode one of Very Vedic, Matt and his student Anna explore some foundational Vedic concepts that help set up the discussions they’ll have moving forward. Anna begins by questioning the role of the ego, and asks if it is ever useful to us. Matt goes on to explain that the ego is neutral, but it is the intellect that can become mistaken and cause us to suffer. Matt shares that the purpose of Very Vedic is to help us correct our mistaken intellect, and gain an understanding of the true laws of nature. The pair also explore the role of the mantra and other Vedic concepts like creation, maintenance and destruction, and the Vedic view on intuition — also known as charm.
