Through their music, the composition of their lifelong friendship breathes a cohesive tone. The band dives through long delicate bridges before it hits an explosion of honest sounding rock music that has its own authentic character. DUCRU is on a mission to revive rock music from its dirty organic roots and bring it out of the commercial gutter that it’s been in for the past decade. In 2013 DUCRU released their first album “A Language Apart”, which was produced/mixed by The Mars Volta/At The Drive-In sound engineer, Matt Bittman. The album received rave reviews nationally across various press outlets and received national airplay on Internet and FM radio. The band played at most of the venues in Baltimore and also Main Street Music Festival in 2014. “Around The Bend” is the band’s latest release (2015). It was tracked LIVE in Wright Way Studios of Baltimore, MD in the summer of 2014 and mixing/mastering was completed in spring of 2015. It bleeds interesting, twisted guitar tones and interwoven melodies that express the honesty that’s been missing from the Rock genre for quite some time. With less of a pop vibe than “A Language Apart”, the latest release from DUCRU is more mature and sophisticated. The band plans on touring extensively in support of it in fall of 2015. What more needs to be said? These guys are a great band that puts the time and effort into every track. One of my favorite featured bands I finally got the chance to sit down with Andrew, Ian, and Kris in studio to discuss the finer aspects of each song and what it's like to live the band life. For us here at Unsigned Countdown Podcast it's the greatest achievement to find a band like these guys and have the chance to talk candidly with them. While anybody can find and listen to a commercialized band that their friend love, we are searching every day for something more. The Band that is struggling day in and day out to perfect their sound and are putting in the dirty work. Touring, practicing, and working for only the love of music. Red Sky Constellation By: Nephilym In this episode our producer and co-host Jason sits down in studio with guitarist Josh and singer acoustic guitarist Brent from Nephilym to discuss aspects of their new EP release Red Sky Constellation. It's another thing to do all of that and then hear the actual band members to explain in detail the meanings of the songs, or where the song originated or more. Why do the guys do what they do? Together, the band has a sound that has made it one of the most popular bands in Southeast North Carolina. Nephilym goes from the heaviest of metal sounds to plaintive acoustics, from throat-splitting screams to haunting harmonies and melodies. Their music is moody, mean, sweet and infectious. The band members say it's all represented in the name of the band itself: Nephilym, a name used for the offspring of the sons of God and mortal women, basically translated as "fallen ones". It was the word used to describe the angel/human hybrid that later disappeared in translations of the Bible, but remains in mythologies.
