Like Abraham or the disciples, everyone believer’s life is “unfinished,” in that we never arrive at a completion of all that we aim to be about. We find our fulfillment, however, in the place that we have in God’s everlasting purposes.

God works through ordinary people in extraordinary ways.  The examples in today’s Scriptures are Shiphrah, Puah, Jochebed, Miriam, and Pharaoh’s daughter.

We are urged throughout the Bible not to think we have “arrived” in faith but to keep pressing on to “know the Lord.”

We need to recognize that we are sojourners on this earth, so that we ground our lives in the eternal, rather than being trapped in the trivialities or problems of the present.

Today our teens present elements of the worship service.

We are brought to spiritual wholeness through Christ.

The Biblical picture of what we will be in heaven.

There are striking parallels between Abraham’s testing with Isaac and what happens on Mt. Calvary. When there seems no way out, God provides the way.

We are called to pray and act in Jesus’ name, which means doing so in harmony with Jesus, in accord with Jesus’ empowerment and will.

The power of Christ frees us from negative forces.

We are called to decisive action, to live for God and use what we have for God’s purposes.

Jesus longs to “save” us. And that means Jesus approaches others, even though evil seems to define who they are, with the intent to offer mercy.

Self-denial means being detached from things that are useless in order that you can be attached to Christ.

Fullness of spiritual life develops only as we are “connected to the vine” – joined with Christ.

We choose (if we are wise) to live a life enriched by God's law and spiritual truths. Our lives become extraordinary when we welcome the spirit into our lives and live as Christ would have us live.

Differences can tear us apart or, under the guidance of Christ, they can help us learn and grow together.
