Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he talks with Brandon Miller about his affirmations for success as a muscle specialist and a baseball coach. Brandon talks about his path to success from a Division 1 athlete to getting his Masters in Body Mechanics and working with professional athletes for the first 7 years of his career. He and his business partner have had their own exercise and therapy business for the past 22 years. His area of expertise is in the physics of exercise. He and his business partner work with Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) and Biomechanics and have been for 12 years. Brandon works with the science of exercise and therapy versus the subjective part of it, ie how the clients feel.  For example, if a client is still feeling pain, he needs other parameters to judge if he’s doing his job and being worthwhile to his client.  Brandon describes pain as the “check engine light” that lets someone know something is wrong. However, the pain one is feeling may not be coming directly from the source. Our society is “treat my symptom,” but Brandon’s affirmation for success is what is causing the symptom? What led to that pain or injury? Figuring that out will fix the problem. Brandon is also a baseball coach that teaches his players mindset for achievement. He believes mindset will lead to success on the baseball field. He teaches his players about self-talk and the importance of positive self-talk. He asks them what are you telling yourself that you are not willing to tell others? With his players he discusses soft talk and how to talk better for better mindset and language.   Goal setting is an important part of his coaching. He has the players set a goal and plan how to get there. If they have goals that seem unrealistic, he will have them create a timeline on when to reach that goal or ask them to set a goal for this year. An important factor for success and happiness that he teaches these kids is “you don’t always get what you earn.” There are other factors to consider that are out of their control. He tells them to work hard to do the best that they can do. The only way to fail is not learning from the negative experience. As long as you learn something, it is not a fail. Brandon’s story of success is getting to know his players as a whole person and emphasizes the importance of communication. Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as interviews Mark England, the head coach of Enlifted.  Mark describes himself as a “language geek” saying words influence us for better or for worse. His job at nlifted is to certify coaches so they can dismantle the victim mentality of his clients and teach people the power of words. Mark’s story of success starts when he was into Jujitsu before it was called Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He went to Thailand with aspirations to go pro, but two knee surgeries sidelined him from pursuing that goal.  He spent 10 years in Thailand thinking of himself as a loser because he lost his identity as a fighter.  When in Thailand, he went to a spa and did cleanse programs.  Because he felt better, he went back 2 more times. The 3rd time there he met Barry Musgrave who did a Ted Talk on the power of words. Barry helps a woman consumed with a breakup look at the situation differently just by changing the words. He helped her on her road to success in dealing with breakup by changing her story to not make her the victim.  This encounter set up Mark for success and happiness as he discovered the power of words. He realizes it’s easier for people to externalize the blame and make themselves the victim than to look within themselves for allowing the situation to happen. The key to success in changing the story is to write it down word for word in a conversational manner. The more specific the better. Once it is on paper, the words can be changed to see a different perspective.  Mark describes mindset as the story one tells himself. It can be positive or negative.  While in Thailand, Mark made his path to success by becoming a Physical Education teacher.  In 2003, he used his mindset for achievement by buying DVDs for modality and martial arts training.  In 2006, he did a 5 day training program. In January 17, 2007, he became a pro.  Mark gives the definition of the victim mentality as an acquired personality trait where a person tends to regard himself as the victim of the negative actions of others even in the absence of clear evidence. This is a habit one develops over time. Mark gives 3 words and their definitions of someone with a victim mentality: Projections, Negations, and Softtalk.  Mark emphasizes the importance of writing the words on paper. Get the story externalized and out of the mind. Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he continues his discussion of the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by discussing the fifth habit: Seek First to understand then to be.  Wes gives a few scenarios as examples of this. He starts by talking about one of his customers whose been married for 55 years. They say the key to success of a marriage is compromise. When there is a disagreement, what is it worth to you? Is it worth it to fight for one point of view or better to compromise? Wes discusses how his parents told him not to get married at 19. Back then, he didn’t listen to them and did what he wanted, but now he understands. His parents married young and had kids right away. They #struggled raising 3 kids on close to minimum wage.  They also told Wes to go to college, get a job with health benefits and retirement. His parents wanted him to have stability. The mindset for achievement for Wes was understanding that his parents didn’t want him to struggle like they did. Wes does point out that just because he now understands what his parents meant by telling him these things, doesn’t mean he agrees with their process. Neither Wes nor his parents were wrong in their thought processes.  Another example of this habit Wes gives is his marriage. He and his wife decided not to have kids right away. They thought it was best to save some money and get stabilized before having kids. Also getting to know one another led to success and happiness in their marriage and life with the kids.  Wes also talks about criticism. Accepting criticism as good leads to improvement on the journey to success. He surrounds himself with good people who believe in him and help him grow. He is challenged by their point of view on various topics. The key to success and understanding is conversations among people who don’t always agree. It’s important to look at different points of view objectively. On this episode of Shaping Success with Wes Tankersley, Wes recaps the first two habits from the book The  7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey.  Wes talks about the first habit which is being proactive. With his busy schedule, he is proactive with losing weight by shifting his schedule by working out first thing in the morning. The second habit is beginning with the end in mind. Working backwards from your goal and setting up the steps needed to reach that goal.  Wes introduces the third habit which is putting first things first. What must be done to start the process? Wes set himself up for success by changing his diet, exercising, and seeing his doctor. He continues his path to success by planning a home gym where he plans to have the equipment necessary to reach his goal weight.  The fourth habit is thinking win-win. The affirmation for success is a positive mindset. The glass must be half full and not half empty. If there is something Wes wants, he sets up a road to success in planning what he must do to get it. He makes his own success story by telling himself “I will have that.” Instead of “I’ll never have that.” The key to success with win-win is surrounding himself with people who support him and will help him reach that goal. In turn he will help them with their goals. Wes also talks about social media and podcasting and how people try to bring him down. He will think about what they say and finds out by going to their pages that they are not a good source of criticism. Most of the time they are negative people who bring down other people, so they don’t have to grow. Keep moving forward. The key is reaching people to help them succeed, and in turn he will be successful. On this episode of Shaping Success with Wes Tankersley, Wes comes back from vacation with insights on how to attain a goal. He talks about how college doesn’t teach anything besides how to take a test and write a paper. The key to success in learning is doing. For example, he learned how to manage kids by student teaching. It’s not something he learned in the classroom.  The first step is setting a smart goal. A smart goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. The way to achieve success in goal setting is to be proactive. What is the goal? What is needed to make the goal happen? One thing that is needed is consistency.  The secret to success in attaining that goal is to start with the result and work backwards step by step. To stay on the course, the course needs to be mapped out. For example, if the goal is to own and rent out apartments, what is needed for the result? Money. How does one get the money?  The mindset needed for achievement is hard work and consistency. SHAPING SUCCESS -GUEST HOST WOLF KAY While Wes enjoys his vacation, join guest host Wolf Kay as he embarks on his first podcast experience.  Wolf discusses his mindset for achievement by briefly talking about his struggles as a salad farmer in West Texas. With the unpredictable weather, the farm didn’t produce enough product for profit. His mindset plummeted. He didn’t like his life with the failure of the farm that season and his most recent divorce. He told people he was ok, but he wasn’t. He wanted to change that.  On his road to getting better, he found many options but no clear path to follow unless it is known with what one needs help. If it isn’t known, counseling is a good beginning.  Since Wolf couldn’t find an option to help him, he decided to create one. He built his success by starting the Positivity Conduit. His first journey into this conduit took him to the radio where he created a show on Stationhead called Sensible Coffee. There he discusses the Positivity Conduit.  On the radio he discusses the five pillars of the positivity conduit: 1.  Self-awareness where one learns to do for himself for starters. 2. The Triad of Health which is the mind, body, and spirit. If one is out of sorts, the others suffer as well. The triad of health works as one. 3. Having gratitude is important, and writing in a gratitude journal helps keep it in perspective. 4. Acceptance is accepting the circumstances. 5. Compassion is having compassion for others and oneself. Wolf points out that it’s impossible to be positive all the time. Life has ups and downs. It’s not just about being positive, but the key to success and happiness is about being grateful and realistic in certain circumstances.  Wolf is writing a book about the Positivity Conduit which is a handbook showing people multiple approaches to a more positive life. It will be easy to navigate to the part that is needed at any given time. For example, it may be needed to work on the Triad of Health and Compassion for oneself at the same time.  In the future, Wolf would like to take the Positivity Conduit to podcasting. On this episode of Shaping Success with Wes Tankersley, Wes talks about a book called “The 7 Habits Of Highly Successful People” by Stephen R. Covey.  One of his friends years ago asked him what Wes was reading. He asked why would I do that? In college he read only what was required to get that degree. His friend had planted a seed in asking that question because the first book Wes read after that conversation was this book. Wes realized at that time that when trying to be better at something, there are people that have already done what he is trying to do. To set oneself up for success is gleaning that information from wherever it can be found and through hard work putting those ideas into action. The first habit Wes discusses is being proactive. Everyone has stress in their life. The way to lessen the stress is to plan things out in advance that need to be done in order to achieve the goal.  Decide what you want the result to be and figure out how to get there in the quickest and most efficient way. Wes talks about being proactive in his own life, so he and his family are less stressed.  Wes’s tip to achieve success is keeping it simple. In his own job, Wes decided not to worry about how the other sellers were doing and focused on his own sales. His only concern is making the sale and not worrying about the profits he may or may not be making. As discussed in previous episodes, sometimes it is necessary to take that lateral step to shift the perspective.  Wes reminds people that the past does not define you. Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he discusses the last law from the book The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. The Law of Receptivity is being open to receive information. In the book, it says giving and receiving are 2 sides of the same coin like inhaling and exhaling. To receive, you must give. To give, you must receive.  The key to success is being objective to the information received. First, Wes discusses a comment he got on a YouTube short when he said it’s ok to outgrow people. In this case, it’s critical to be open to criticism. In the comment, someone suggested he surrounds himself with people in bad situations to make himself feel better and then decides to outgrow them. Rather than taking the comment negatively, Wes looks at it objectively and realizes this person interpreted his words in a different way that Wes did not mean. As a mindset coach, Wes explains his view further. Some people tear others down when they can’t find success on their own. The thinking is if I can’t succeed, no one else should either. These people are negative and refuse to grow. To continue to move forward and build success, it’s ok to let them go.  There are also people who constantly ask help of others for the same thing. How long do you help them before enough is enough? If they aren’t making their situation better, the best thing to do may be to stop enabling their situation. The road to success is paved in the choices we make and not the circumstances to which we are born. On this episode of Shaping Success with Wes Tankersley, Wes continues to discuss the book The Go Giver.  He discusses the Law of Authenticity.  The Law of Authenticity is not changing who you are to fit other people’s narratives. It’s being yourself and not pretending to be something or someone you’re not. The best gift to give someone is your authentic self.  For Wes, his authentic self is that he is very structured in how he does things. Things must be done a certain way and in the most efficient way.  The biggest problem with his job is that other people are in charge of his schedule, and they do not schedule appointments in the most efficient way. His appointment time is 9 am to 3:30 pm. He spends an average of one and a half hour at an appointment. Instead of having appointment slots, they have the client choose the time between 9am and 3:30. The schedule for a day might me that he only can fit 3 appointments in because of how they are scheduled. Another issue is where each appointment is. He might be late for an appointment because one appointment might be an hour from his last. For Wes the key to success is time management for his schedule to fit as many appointments as possible and scheduling the appointments together for those clients in the same area. Some people might not think it’s a big deal to be late for an appointment or late with a quote, but for Wes, it’s important for him.  Wes talks about his time at the tire company and how two different managers handled a situation. When Wes didn’t answer the phone right away, the manager spoke to him harshly letting him know that ignoring the phone ringing wasn’t right, and he wasn’t happy with Wes.  Although a difficult conversation, Wes appreciated his boss letting him know that he did something that was not acceptable. Knowing this set him up for success by Wes not making the same mistake again. There was another manager Wes had that didn’t talk to Wes about what he did wrong. Instead, the manager was just angry at Wes. Wes ended up confronting his boss about it.  The lesson here is you can’t control how other people react, but you can control how you react. Control what you can control. Wes talks about the lessons of baseball and how consistent it is. WES SOLO 04/03/2023 Join Wes Tankersley on this solo episode of Shaping Success as he continues discussing the book The Go Giver.  The third law in the book is the Law of Influence. This is defined as how often and how much you focus on others’ interests first. Wes says the key to success is putting others first. He shares that when he worked at the tire company, he had a manager that wanted his workers to everything about the job, so they could help the customer as best as they can. The more knowledge each worker had, the more successful the business is.  Wes talks about how people would hold on to their knowledge for fear they will become obsolete if they share the information. They would think what am I doing here?  That negative thinking will not be a good influence on the other workers. If someone is negative, they will make those around him negative also.  With what type of people do you surround yourself? You choose who you have in your life. How do they influence you?  How do you influence them?  Wes says the biggest problem is not looking at both sides of a situation. This is evident today with politics. There are 2 people on opposite sides of politics having a conversation. They can argue with one another and go their separate ways not speaking to one another again, or are they able to be objective and leave out the opinions and feelings and deal with only the facts? With politicians, their agenda is putting their own interests first.  Wes talks about another example of influence working for the tire company. He wanted to grow and become an assistant manager, but he was told by the other workers that Jim does not promote anyone. An outside assistant manager talked to Wes about it and helped him to get promoted to assistant manager. What Wes learned was the secret to success is taking initiative to get what you want. Jim was waiting for someone to take that initiative.  Another influence for Wes was his father. Because of his dad, Wes played football. He didn’t like it at first, but his dad told him to never quit.  Wes learned that to build success you must move forward! It’s not important how to move forward. There may be 2 steps taken back in order to take 4 steps forward.  Wes’s final thought is don’t be selfish with everything you do. Share your knowledge and good influence to help other people. WES SOLO FOR 3/27/2023 Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he talks about the book The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. The book talks about many laws for success. In this episode Wes discusses two. The first law is the law of value. When most people think of value, they think of what it costs and what value does it give you for what it costs. The law of value is what you give versus what you take.  The book says that the secret to success is to focus on giving, and the money will come to you. Don’t keep score on what is  given and taken.  Wes says his podcast Shaping Success is about teaching people that they can do more than they think they can.  As a salesman, Wes gets to educate people on his products, so he can sell the clients what they need and explain why the product they want may not suit their needs.  The Go Giver talks about sharing the knowledge you have with people, so they succeed. Don’t hold back because of fear that the person will overshadow the teacher. Wes talks about having a positive headspace. For example, most people have bills such as mortgage or rent, car payment, and phone bills. Being negative can feel like, man, I have all these bills. The mindset for achievement says look what I get from these bills.  I get shelter from the rain, heat, a car to get me from place to place.  Isn’t it worth the cost?  Having this positive mindset will get people on the road to success. The second law is the law of compensation. Be valuable to your people. The bigger the impact you have, the more money will come your way. Integrity. Wes talks about selling a blind to someone that doesn't have the money to buy new blinds. The person may not necessarily need new blinds but just may need a repair. He will give them a name of someone who can help them and save a lot of money. Down the road when new blinds are needed, they will remember Wes and buy from him because he took care of them. Wes’s living passion is being a teacher and not in the classroom. He wants to help people overcome their barriers and teach them how to get around them. He wants to help people be better. Wes says people’s success story starts with overseeing their own lives.  Regardless of the circumstances surrounding your upbringing, they can be overcome by hard work getting better every day. Wes says sometimes people are forced to be around people with whom they don’t get along. For example, family and coworkers. If they are being negative, it’s easy to join in and be negative also. It’s easier to be negative than positive.  Wes examines two words.  The first is narcissist. It’s defined as excessive interest and admiration of oneself. He feels it’s overused, and if someone thinks of themselves one time, then people may call them a narcissist.  He points out that relationships are not eye for an eye or quid pro quo.  People should give selflessly, and it will be returned.  The second word is empath. Empath is someone who feels what other people are feeling. This is thought of as opposite of narcissists. Empaths want to help people.  In feeling what others are feeling, this can be a problem when an empath is around negative people, then they can become negative as well. Empaths also can be taken advantage of their caring nature for example giving people asking for money who just lost their job. Wes points out that people don’t know how or what other people are thinking. One person might think someone on social media is good-looking, but that person may not like their hair or think they are overweight.  In order to help people, they have to want the help. They must do the hard work on their path to success. Don’t tear down people who want to do better. On this episode of Shaping Success with Wes Tankersley, Wes goes solo discussing the state of healthcare in Idaho.  He’s been dealing with sinus issues all his life but most recently for a year.  He talks about his path to success in seeking a solution. Eight years ago, Wes had sinus surgery. Three years after the surgery, he started to have sinus infections again about 3 times a year. He got tested for allergies and was allergic to everything for which he was tested. He took the allergy shots for one year, but there was no relief. He still got sinus infections. Wes talks about how in his area in Idaho it’s difficult to get in to see a doctor. They will just send people to the urgent care for antibiotics over and over, and that is what the doctors did to him.  His allergist sent him to an ENT who recommended surgery. However, there was a derailment because the ENT ended up passing away from COVID. He was sent to another ENT who said he doesn’t need surgery and should start allergy shots again not believing Wes was doing them long enough.  Since Wes is a success maker, he got a third opinion from another ENT who looked at the CT scan Wes had done and told him he only needs to rinse the sinuses. No medication needed.  Wes was frustrated, but still pressed on seeing his family doctor again for help. Luckily, his family doctor is willing to help him figure out the course of action. He advises Wes to stop all medications and try the sinus rinse.  Wes and his family doctor discussed the state of healthcare in the area. The doctor said that doctors are understaffed and overworked because of the tremendous growth in the area. There aren’t enough doctors to treat the population.  Wes switches gears and talks about how he wants to help people through his podcast. Wes builds his success by reaching out to people every day. He reaches out to regular, everyday people as well as celebrities. He’s had Chris Henderson from 3 Doors Down on the podcast as well as Jake Rose, lead singer for New Medicine. Through hard work, Wes says anything is possible. You just need to do the work. You need to put yourself out there. Life is about connections. Negative people who put others down are easy to find. People need to find the good people who will support, and lift up each other. They are hard to find.  Wes says if people don’t have positive people in their lives, read self-help and inspiring books. Start the day of on the right foot by doing something positive. Wes is 194 days in working out every day.  It doesn’t matter how you get there. Just move forward. WES SOLO EPISODE – THE HAMSTER WHEEL On this episode of Shaping Success with Wes Tankersley, Wes talks about how being stuck in the comfort zone and monotony of life is like a hamster running on a hamster wheel. He runs and runs but never goes anywhere.  Wes talks about how his parents’ idea of success is graduating High School and going to college.  Their key to success is making good money, having good health insurance, and getting good retirement.  These are the core things needed in life. Wes says at La Schwalb Tire Company he made good money, had health insurance, and good retirement benefits, but he didn’t like it. It wasn’t fulfilling for him. People’s mindset is do what you need to do to survive.  He points out that the more money that’s made, the more that is spent. At this point money is made to get things wanted and not necessarily needed.  At his job now as a salesman, it is up to him to make more money as he’s on 100 commission. He is in the process of building a house. He needs to make more money to get the things he wants. He feels like now he is on  that hamster wheel.  The key to success for Wes is to take a lateral step off the hamster wheel and move forward. Wes achieved success through sports. His football coach taught him many ways to be a man. One football play is called “The T” and it involves the offensive tackle, Wes’s position on the team, to step back, turn left, then step to the side, then go around the center. It’s more involved, but it can work. Once the lateral step is taken, it is important to move forward. This shows there is more than one way to solve a problem. When he was at La Schwalb, he had knee problems to the point that if he continued to work there, his quality of life would suffer. He ended up going to college and graduated with 3.8 GPA. When he was teacher, he continued his steps to building success by getting his Masters and graduating with a 3.95 GPA.  Wes’s key to success and happiness is podcasting. Through podcasting, he can help people which is very therapeutic for him. He has met many great people through this podcast.  To continue his success maker mentality, he revamped his podcast to include more solo episodes, so people can get to know him. He will still do interviews.  His podcast is about everyone and not just him.  Teacher is the title he believes fits him the best. The first thing Wes talks about is how everything happens for a reason, even if it’s negative. A few days ago he was rushing around and he slipped and fell on ice, twisted his back, and banged up the funny bone on his elbow. This was after he told his wife to be careful.  He thought about why this happened. The secret to success is finding a lesson in everything that happens. He thought that he didn’t have an appointment that warranted him rushing. He felt pain well after the fall which told him he needs to slow down and think things through. Going through his head were thoughts of not working out tomorrow because he’ll be sore.  He was talking himself out of it, but he did work out because it is a habit. His goal is to work out every day, so he wasn’t going to quit. This brings up the second thing Wes discusses which is integrity. He tells everyone on social media that he works out every day, so then he is obligated to do it.  No one will know if he doesn’t do it, but he will know. If he doesn’t do it, he will let himself down. This integrity helps build success. If you can’t do it for yourself, then how can you do it for others? Wes discusses how difficult it is nowadays to find integrity. He talks about a student he had that failed Physical Education her Freshman, Sophomore, and online. Her Senior year she had a doctor’s note. When she came to class she didn’t dress at first. She would come to class for a week then not show up after that. She wasn’t consistent. The Counselor told Wes he couldn’t grade her on the days she wasn’t there. This didn’t sit well with him.  How can you pass a class being inconsistent? How do you feel about yourself? How can a school say this is ok? This is a requirement to graduate, but the principal said to pass her even though she didn’t do the work.   Wes talks about how he had to deal with the students’ parents listening to them complain then cater to the parent because the school says so. Wes decided he was done teaching because of no integrity in the school system.  The third item Wes discusses is failure. Failure is an invitation to try again.  People see failure as a red light, but it actually is a green light setting us up for success.  The key to success when failing is to find the lesson in the failure. DENNIS MOROLDA Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he speaks to Dennis Morolda about his story of success of teaching young men how to be men. Dennis grew up playing sports in South New Jersey and asked himself what is a man and how should men act since he had a troubled relationship with his father. He went to College in South Jersey and majored in Education and Sociology.  His path to success started when he did an internship helping At Risk boys as an Assistant Group Counselor. He interacted with kids who had trouble with the law and came from single family homes with absent or non-competent fathers. His job at the time was to observe how the counselors interacted with the kids. Eventually he was hired as a van driver. He went to school at his college then pick up the kids from their homes in the bad areas, take them to where they would have their sessions, then drive them home. He found that these drives home were therapy sessions for the kids.  The kids would open up to him and tell him things they weren’t telling the licensed therapists. He realized that this was his calling and became his living passion.  His third day of teaching was September 11, 2001. The World Trade Center could be seen from the school. This event made him realize the kids need the following things: A need to be heard, competence, fun, relationships, a feeling of community, and safety which is the most important.  Dennis set himself up for success by realizing he loved leadership, so he got his Masters in Educational Leadership to become a principal. He taught for 4 ½ years  before becoming an assistant principal in 2005. The kids getting into trouble were 90% boys, and he knew something had to be done. No one was doing anything, so he decided to start a boys social group called Building Men. There would be 20 to 25 boys would meet an hour before school. There he did team building where the boys would talk about what is happening in their lives.  Dennis asked them what does it mean to be a man? Success meaning for these boys was to be bigger, faster, stronger, six-pack abs, beards and tattoos, and many sexual conquests. They also said it was accumulation of material things such as cars, money, and houses. Dennis pointed out that these things can be easily taken away.  He set up the road to success for these boys by teaching them that to be a man is based on character, integrity, accountability, and serving others.  Dennis established steps to building success by first setting the ground rules: the kids set up the room by forming a circle. There is no front or back. Everyone is equal. The sessions would begin and end with a handshake, looking one another in the eye, and showing respect.  What is said here stays here unless there is a danger to self or others. Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he continues his conversation with Craig Daigle on his journey to success. Craig has said T25 workout was the hardest of his life, but through his mindset for achievement, he realized it wasn’t the hardest. The hardest was being overweight, unhealthy, anxious 24 hours a day. He chose the hard for 25 minutes instead of 24 hours a day. He realized that he needed to be alive before he could worry about paying the rent, car payments, and electricity.  He had a small apartment with not a lot of space to work out. He says most people will use lac of space as an excuse. Craig admits he’s used every excuse to not workout, so when someone makes an excuse, he’s heard it all, and he’s said it all. He still uses those excuses: He works nights, his kids take up time, etc.  Craig’s key to success is learning that nothing tastes as good as healthy feels. Healthy means he feels good, sleeps well, and can play with his kids.   He took to social media to set himself up for success to hold himself accountable.  His mindset is people aren’t accountable to themselves. They talk themselves out of it and have a lack of respect for themselves. Craig’s secret to success is knowing that the mind doesn’t differentiate between negative and positive or true and false. Whatever the mind is fed is what it will believe. An example of this is being upset that $100.00 of the paycheck is going to electricity. If someone is homeless, they would not have an electric bill. What is worse? Having a bill to pay or not having a home?  Craig’s secret to success is having gratitude. He is thankful he wakes up in the morning when so many don’t.  He is thankful is able to walk and workout when a lot of people don’t have that capability. He is thankful he was the mental capacity to work and provide for his family. Being accountable on social media is prone to negative comments sometimes from family members and people to whom he is closest. They say he won’t last a week and he’s too fat. Craig points out that he and these people are a lot alike, run in the same circles, and go to the same places. They are jealous because he’s out there doing something about his situation while they are still stuck in there’s. They want to see him fail. If he fails, they will say I knew it because that means they don’t have to do it. CRAIG DAIGLE – LIFE COACH/SPEAKER PART 1 Join Wes Tankersley on this episode of Shaping Success as he chats with Life Coach and speaker Craig Daigle about his journey to success.  Craig grew up in Massachusetts and lived in New Hampshire until October of 2019 when he moved to Oklahoma with his wife and 4 sons. Soon after their arrival, the pandemic hit.  His living passion of life coaching didn’t really change. In fact, it boomed. The only thing was he was no longer traveling to live events and being locked down affected him mentally.  Craig gave a startling statistic: Three out of four suicides are men. Not enough emphasis is put on men’s mental health. They are taught to just “tough it out.” Craig said he never attempted suicide but had thoughts that people would be better off without him.  People listen to Craig’s success story, they say to him “I don’t know how you do it.” He responds “I don’t have a choice.” He had a friend that said yes you do. You could’ve turned to drugs, gave up rights to your kids, or ended your life.  That left a profound impression on him. He realizes he does have a choice. Craig looks back to 2006 when divorced his wife with whom he had his first son. In 2008 he met a lady whom he eventually married. She had a daughter that passed away. To cope she turned to drugs and alcohol. Craig admits to enabling her behavior. He thought who am I to say how someone copes with a death of a child?  This led further into domestic violence in which Craig was abused physically and mentally. During these domestic situations in which the police were involved, Craig was automatically detained, as it was assumed he was the abuser. His wife would paint Craig as the abuser, and the police would believe her. The children saved him because they would tell the police that is not what happened.  Craig’s journey to success started after 8 years in this abusive relationship when he realized children are resilient.  The children is not a good reason to stay in a bad relationship. What kept him in the marriage so long was he didn’t think he could be a single dad. He worked 80 hours a week, so where would the kids go?  In the end, the children are a reason to leave a bad relationship and not a reason to stay.
