Resolutions may or may not be a thing for everyone but who doesn’t love a good year in review?! During episode 34, we highlight some of our most favorite personal moments and belly laughs as well as some occasions that impacted us in our ever-changing pop culture. We cover a wide range of topics, we celebrate black girl magic & black boy joy (as usual!) and remember the souls who shed their physical form, but remain in our hearts as kindred spirits. Colorism: aka shadeism, is a form of prejudice or discrimination usually from members of the same race in which people are treated differently based on the color of their skin and social implications associated with. Not so fun fact: colorism has been happening since 1619. Tune in to this episode as the ladies of TDP unpack what colorism means to them as well as their experiences in this difficult space.

On this week’s episode, the ladies of TDP have an intense conversation about the fine line between always hanging out with your partner and not knowing when to say “not tonight bae.” Moderated by @georgia_belike, this talk goes from fun and jokes to the serious and very relevant topic that is: codependent relationships. Is it okay to bring sand to beach when you’re hanging with the homies? We think not. Is it necessary to create healthy space in all relationships? Absolutely. We even talk about codependent friendships and codependency on external factors such as social media and other outlets alike.

On this episode, Professor Peggy gives a pop quiz on a lesser known Black Holiday: Juneteenth. How much do you know about this day? We also discuss the heart wrenching, Ava Duvernay film, "When They See Us" which is streaming now on Netflix. A story told from the perspective of five formally jailed, wrongfully accused black men from a crime that took place in the 90s. We get into the impact that socio-economic status has on black and brown impoverished families and how lack of education can end up taking away our basic human rights. Whether you are black, brown, white or other, these are stories that affect all our lives and they need to be told. We as five black women, chose to share this information with our listeners since ignorance isn't always bliss. Each one, reach one, teach one.  #UBUNTU

We explore potential conflicts of communication between men and women. How true is the Mars vs Venus theory? We get into the dating game, hidden agendas, DM-sliding and a gaggle of other topics. David even breaks down some negative connotations about women that we may or may not all be aware of...👀

In this episode, we take some time to pay our respects to Ermias Joseph Asghedom, known professionally as Nipsey Hussle. We talk about the many hats worn by Hussle, namley-rapper, entrepreneur and community activist. Clearly a good man all around. In this episode we talk about the voice of victims of abuse,harassment and other forms of misconduct. Will they be believed? The fears that hold them back and how it comes down to their word vs their abuser. We also tie in the current climate of abusers being exposed in the media.

Navigating the dating scene can be tough, y’all. How does one react to ghosting? How soon is too soon to bring someone around? During this episode we delve into how much fun we’re supposed to be having versus what fits in our long term relationship goals. On the scale from 1-10 how important is energy?
