Episode 16 Life Ain't a Track Meet...It's a Series of Marathons
So after a pretty strong finish at my last trail marathon I decided to run another one two weeks before the Ray Miller 50k. Genius or idiotic?! Maybe both.

Episode 15 Care Bears Don't Cry
Falling apart a few weeks ago was one of the best things that could have happened to me. Putting myself back together has made me evaluate where I was going wrong on and off the trail. I completed a pretty tough trail marathon this weekend and then I drank beer in a Care Bear onesie at the finish. Life is good.

Episode 14 What's The Point
It's been over two months since my last podcast.  What happened? Well, I gave up....temporarily.  In this episode I recap the last two months, where I am at with my training, and I answer the question that most of us who run ridiculous amounts of miles each week ask ourselves eventually, "What's the point?"

Episode 13 How Much Would A Rescue Helicopter Be?
I signed up for the Tushars Marathon after I saw an advertisement of the race that touted the high DNF (Did Not Finish) rate.  I wanted to train hard for it, get stronger, and finish.  I knew it was going to be hard but I had no idea.  At one moment during the climb to Delano Peak tears started to stream down my face.  I was looking at one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen and I just wanted to quit. I wanted someone to send a helicopter up to get me so I could go back to my hotel and lay in my bed.  I felt like I didn't belong out there and that I had made a terrible mistake.  Somehow with the help of amazing friends I finished with an official time of 9 hours and 41 minutes.  Here's my Tushars Race Report.

Episode 12 The Raddest Runner I Know
Ron Hammett has conquered a lot of difficult races (including Western States twice) so how did he get started in ultra running and how is he able to recover so quickly? I finally was able to sit down with him in a park in Beaver, Utah of all places, the night before we ran the Tushars Marathon, to ask those questions and many more.  Ron ended up placing 5th overall at Tushars and then summited Mt. Charleston the next day.  Someone in our trail group posted about how rad is he and I just thought that was the perfect adjective for Ron.  He is by far the raddest runner I know.

Episode 11 You're Never Ready For 100 Miles
I am at Pinches Tacos with our local ultra running super star Stephen Massey to talk about his recent 100 mile finish at the Tahoe Rim Trail, his running history, his training, and other topics. TRT was Stephen's third 100 miler so he has a lot of great advice and tips. Also, we discuss why I have decided to switch from the 100k at Javelina to the 100 miler! Wut?! Mainly because someone told me, "You're never really ready for 100 miles."

Episode 10 Desert Gypsy Colleen Zato - Pre Badwater 135 Interview
I am in my living room this week with our local ultra runnings superstar Colleen Zato. Colleen will be running Badwater 135 in a few days. She has completed many ultras including several 100 mile races but Colleen wasn't an athlete growing up. She has a really inspiring story and it was great to hear how she got into running, ultras, and how she's feeling about Badwater.

Episode 8 Full Circle at Western States
I had the most amazing, life changing, cathartic experience fan girling and pacing at #westernstates. I learned so much about ultra running and the human spirit there. Both of my badass friends (Ron and Marie) finished the race that took down some of the best. I ran into the man who originally introduced me to ultra running and broke my heart. I got to meet my ultra running crush and a few other ultra running super stars. Most importantly I reaffirmed that this is something I want to experience for my self so so much and that it is possible.
