Torpedo Swimtalk with Nick Hope - Masters Swimmer and Sports Journalist
Today on Torpedo Swimtalk Podcast  I am joined by Nick Hope  who is a champion British Masters Swimmer and a renowned Sports Journalist. It was so enjoyable chatting to him, while he shared his unique perspective from both angles. How does a successful freelance journalist, who follows the big sporting events round the globe - think Olympics, Paralympics and World Championships - fit his own masters swimming training into that schedule? Where and how does he train and what is the secret to his success? Juxtapose onto that story, the wonderful experiences he can share from pool deck in his interviews with many champions of swimming from around the world, and I think you will find many gems of advice in Nick's discussion on this episode of Torpedo Swimtalk Podcast Connect with Nick:WebsiteInstagramConnect with Torpedo Swimtalk:WebsiteFacebookInstagramLinkedInNewsletterLeave us a review

Torpedo Swimtalk Podcast with Janelle Pallister - Olympian, Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and High Performance Coach
Can we learn from elite and professional swimmers in our sport? I believe we can! And today's guest on Torpedo Swimtalk Podcast shares many insights from that very vantage point. As Janelle Elford, she shared in the dominance of Australian middle distance freestyler's of the late 80's and early 90's, culminating in a gold, silver and bronze medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland.  As Janelle Pallister, she coaches alongside Michael Bohl on the Gold Coast working with the high performance swimmers from Griffith University - the likes of Emma McKeon, Kaylee McKeown and Mack Horton to name a few - and is currently on the Swimming Australia coaching team in Birmingham for these Commonwealth Games. She is also mother and coach of up and coming Australian swimmer Lani Pallister, who scored a bronze in the 1500m in Budapest last month. So as you can see, Janelle has a truckload of experience to share with us from a swimming and coaching point of view. She is humble, down to earth and I have a feeling the swimmers she works with admire her perspective.Click on the link to connect with Janelle:InstagramFacebookLinkedInClick on the link to connect with Torpedo Swimtalk:WebsiteFacebookInstagramLinkedInNewsletterLeave us a review

Torpedo Swimtalk Podcast with Rob Kent - Canadian Masters Swimming Champion and Swim Entrepreneur
Swimming entrepreneur and masters swimmer champion Rob Kent joins us in this episode of  Torpedo Swimtalk PodcastHailing from Toronto Canada, we had a long ranging chat about Rob's swimming, first as a Canadian National Swimmer, his epic open water swim races as a masters swimmer and the training he does in the pool. Lay over that, his founding of the L.O.S.T. swimming group, which sparked him to start the Global Swim Series and due to Covid, has now pivoted into the inaugural Race the Legends camp and race later in the year.  And as a little side project, he was General Manager of the Toronto Titans ISL Team. This guy loves swimming! In the ocean, in lakes and in the pool. Rob's passion for H2O comes through in each word he speaks, and I love that he has the same passion for promoting participation in open water swims as he does for the elite swimmers in the pool at ISL.Listen in to this great chat with this legend of swimming. You will definitely take something away to help with your own swim journey.Connect with Rob:Global Swim Series - Race the LegendsL.O.S.T. Torpedo Swimtalk Podcast with Ryan Held - Olympic Swimming Gold Medallist and FINA Masters Swimming WR holder
Today's podcast guest is 2016 Olympic Gold Medallist and recent FINA Masters WR holder, US Olympian Ryan Held from the New York Athletic Club.We talked about Ryan's swim in the 4x100m free relay to win gold in Rio '16 and how he ended up swimming that third leg in the final, with Michael Phelps, Nathan Adrian and Caleb Dressel as team mates. We also discussed the recent 2022 US Nationals and Ryan's 100m freestyle race that got him back onto that US Team for the upcoming World Championships..  In between those two bookends, Ryan experienced a few set backs, that might have made other swimmers throw in the towel, so to speak. But his quiet determination, hard work and humility ensured Ryan came back to form at just the right time. Not to say that there weren't highlights in that time, namely breaking the US 100m National Freestyle record in 2019 and in 2021 breaking the 25-29 yrs FINA Masters WR in the 50m free.Ryan's stories around all these events are just pretty terrific.  I love the fact he is a huge fan of masters swimming and he sees himself doing more masters meets when he retires from professional swimming.  Not yet though! he has plenty more goals to reach leading into Paris 2024. Ryan is certainly a swimmer to watch and a joy to have on the podcast.  You will love this chat.Follow Ryan on Instagram:@heldiloxConnect with Torpedo Swimtalk:https://torpedoswimtalk.comLeave us a review.  We love to get your feedback!
