AMC and Bob Odenkirk have teamed up, once again, for a 40-minute comedy drama called Lucky Hank.  The pilot we’re discussing was written by the series co-creators Paul Lieberstein and Aaron Zelman. The plot revolves around a sarcastic English professor teaching unexceptional kids at an unremarkable college, frustrated with his lack of career success after living under his fathers shadow all his life. We review the final season of Endeavour, the British detective drama created by Russell Lewis as a prequel to the Inspector Morse series. Endeavour first aired in 2012 and followed the early career of the eponymous detective in the 1960s, solving fictional crimes around Oxford University. The series has been widely acclaimed for its gripping storylines, strong performances, and attention to period detail. After eight seasons, Endeavour has come to a close with its ninth and final season, which consists of three episodes, the last of which is fittingly titled Exeunt. Today we’re looking at the full first season of History of the World, Part II, the sequel to Mel Brooks’ cult classic 1981 comedy History of the World, Part 1. The eight episode Hulu series premiered March 6th, and collectively features over 100 comedians, most of which have turned up in other shows we’ve reviewed, BUT the wildest thing about this project is that it is narrated by 96-year-old Brooks himself. The show stars Cobra Kai alumnus Peyton List as Maddie Nears, a student who dies in the boiler room of her high school and is left with the mystery of discovering the cause of her own death. Easy comparisons would be shows like Veronica Mars, Ghosts, and Dead Like Me. On this podcast, we review the first three episodes, play some games and give our ratings. Enjoy!

Rain Dogs is a British series airing on HBO about a woman and her daughter struggling to survive on no income, no prospects, and no place to stay. Despite the massively depressing circumstances, the show works as a situational comedy because it’s characters are impervious to shame, and absurd enough not to get bogged down in their problems. Daisy Jones & The Six is a miniseries based off the 2019 best seller of the same name, written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The show is loosely based on Fleetwood Mac, following the rise and fall of a fictional rock group in the 1970s. The three segments we’re looking at are titled: “Track 1: Come and Get it, Track 2: I’ll take you there, and Track 3: Someone Saved My Life tonight.” Tune in and Enjoy!

True Lies is a new spy-comedy-drama on CBS based on the 1994 film about a secret agent leading a double life, which eventually bleeds into itself when his marriage starts to get rocky. The 42 minute pilot, which dropped March 1st, stars Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga as Harry and Helen Tasker. The series was created and written by the British screenwriter Tony Basgallop, based on the 2015 novel by Bentley Little, and takes place at the workplace of a mobile gaming company. Carnival Row is a neo-noir fantasy series that takes place in a Victorian-inspired city called The Burgue. It stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne as well as a diverse cast who portray both humans and mythical creatures. The show was developed by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham for Amazon Prime. It took over three years to complete the second season, which dropped its first two episodes February 17th. They are titled: "Fight or Flight" and "New Dawn," and are the basis of our discussion. This new sitcom on FOX stars Joel McHale as a cynical, disillusioned, ex-cop turned Animal Control Senior Officer, who gets stuck with a new rookie partner, as they follow up calls to deal with wild animals. The first episode is 22 minutes long, came out Thursday, and is titled "Weasels and Ostriches."  The series relies on several well-known, work place comedy tropes, which we discuss along with the plot and our rating. The first episode of the second season of Jeremy Clarkson’s Reality Documentary series, Clarkson’s Farm, is titled "Surviving" and was released last week on Amazon Prime. As the name implies, the premise of the show is about a outspoken television personality in his 60s who decides he wants to try his hand in the agriculture game, where he contends with rocky weather, disobedient animals, and unresponsive crops. Though it is undoubtedly one of the most depressing series we've reviewed, Dear Edward deserves your attention as a unique, highly produced, well written story that foreshadows a rewarding conclusion. On this podcast, we discuss the first three episodes from the characters, the themes, and the plot. It's understandable that with so many plane crash series (Manifest, Departure Yellow Jackets, Lost, etc...) that you might dismiss this as one in the same. It's not. Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner teamed up to create a new space series on Syfy called The Ark. "Everyone Wanted to be on this Ship" is the title of the 50 minute pilot, which is currently streaming for free on youtube. The story follows the crew on a spaceship destined for another planet that faces disaster when the ship begins to break apart and many supplies are lost. The Watchful Eye is a new Freeform series about a girl named Elena Santos who takes a nanny position at an Upper East side condo in NYC. The twist is, the building is haunted, all the residents have something to hide, and Elena is actually a thief in disguise. On this podcast we discuss the premiere two episodes (Hen in the Fox House and Hide and Seek). Unfortunately, I did realize while editing that we refer to one of the characters as Annie when their real name in the show is Allie. Tune in and enjoy! 

This historical drama takes place in 1964 following the lives of noted figures like Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) and Malcolm X (Jason Alan Carvell). The series premiered in 2019, and was created by Chris Brancato (Narcos) and Paul Eckstein. “Mecca” is the title of the third season third episode, It was released on MGM+, January 29th. The show stars Jason Segal as a grieving therapist who is struggling to put his life back together a year after his wife’s passing.
