The Question of Ranked Ballots in YGK
Kingston City Councillors Jim Neill (Williamsville District), Mary Rita Holland (Kingscourt-Rideau District) and Robert Kiley (Trillium District) drop by the virtual studio in this episode with guest host, Dinah Jansen.  In this episode, the council members discuss the Ontario Government’s Oct. 20th 2020 amendment to the 1996 Municipal Elections Act, legislation that removes the framework for conducting ranked ballot elections for offices on municipal councils.  More than 60% of Kingstonians voted in a 2018 referendum in favor of moving to a ranked ballot system, thus the issue is of significant local importance.
