Episode #266 "Starring Discount Lindsey Lohan Junior"
December 21 2016 We watch American Poltergeist 2, and it has no boobies. We complain and complain and complain. Also, I severely hate Greg Grundberg. Jelly donuts make an appearance. Eventually it's down to the August Indies with ALIENS DEFIANCE 3 and 4, which features self hacking, acupuncture, and exposition city. We get Zula's origin so to speak, and it's ok. That's about it-ok. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA BY CULLEN BUNN 1 is decent old school Galactica, but despite the spirituality of the original show, mind trips don't seem to work. AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE 10 brings us their take on Interview With a Vampire, except it's Josie, so it's pretty neat. ROM 2 shoudl just be titled "Yeah, we're all Wraiths". Leave it at that. DESCENDER 14 brings us the adorable and slightly touching Bandit's Story, and I could have read three more issues of that. SAGA 37 brings us the new locale of a comet that's one giant fuel resource, Sophie wants to be a bounty hunter, and we're treated to alien meerkats. EMPRESS 5 Fertility Sacrifices, that is all. WAR STORIES 19 start Vampire Squadron, Night Fliers that strike from the sky. It's great. CONANA THE SLAYER 2 continues on with Conan recovering, having an ambush, and Sea Giants! ATOMIC ROBO and the TEMPLE OF OD 1 follows the quest for Odic energy, interrupted by Japanese super soldiers. JAMES BOND 8-9-EIDOLON continues the jurisdictional dick waving between MI 5 and 6; leading to the discovery of a plot using the "reserve fleet" of trains. MIDNIGHT OF THE SOUL 3 just kinda trudges along and is a little too Chaykin for it's own good. It's shooting for noir, and it falls flat. SHADOW: DEATH OF MARGO LANE 3 Has the trail leading to China town, the Mayor trying to improve relations with the region, infiltration, power outages, man, good stuff. HILLBILLY 2 recalls the tale of the Hangin' Tree, leading to a double crossing husband and sister, and the breaking of a curse. MANIFEST DESTINY 22 is Helm and Flewelling's trek to the coast, everyone else dead, and the selection of the avatar on earth of the demaon Navath. We end it all with HARROW COUNTY 15; builds the backstories and reasons of all of Harrow county, Emmy, Hester, and everything. It's amazing.

Episode #265 "A Satisfying Ending to the Dumbest Thing Ever"
December 8 2016 Tonight's episode is all about Marvels. Before that however Tech talks about his experiences with Flash Season 2. We get on to comics with INVINCIBLE IRON MAN 12, featuring Riri, Victor, moms and school. It's OK. INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN 6 Is all about stuff we don't care about, and frankly, the whole adoption thing adds precisely dick all to the character. DAREDEVIL 10 still has DD eating crap from coworkers and that's appropriate. BLACK PANTHER 5 features a mind blowingly bad decision T'challa makes that bites him in his ass later, to no one's fuckin surprise. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 16 and 18 has developments moving fast toward a new clone saga, which frankly I can do without. But it's could and well paced. It also features a skanky super villainness junkie, so there's that. DR. STRANGE 10 has a hell of a fight with the Empirikul and the future Mr Misery. HOWARD THE DUCK 10 is just Batshit. work from that. Ms. MARVEL 10 brings us the unlikley fight between Basic Becky in armor, from where the hell anyone knows, and a guest shot from a vaguely reassuring but always wrong Carol. CAPTAIN STEVE AMERICA 4 needs Maria to account for Pleasant Hill will Steve gives Selvig the lab he stole from Red Ghost. CAPTAIN MARVEL 8 is just, 22 pages of CAROL IS WRONG. Hell with it. SILVER SURFER 200 has the most serious twists you won't expect, and sigh, SPOILER FUCKIN FREE, i was truly shocked. formula inverted. SPIDER WOMAN 10 has Jess and Rogetr vetting Ulysses visions, a theory that is really not as good as it might sound-and there's another villain bar. We like villain bars.THOR 10-Sir Ivory Honeyshot. Wow. OK, Golden Thor, minotaur, book's got it all. We complete the show with BLACK WIDOW 6; with Nat telling Tony that she was the one brought Yinsen to Chu. This angers him, and it's a good scene. Anyway, that's the end of this ep but you don't care, lolwhut.

Episode #264 "I've Read Worse Superman, But That Doesn't Mean I Want To Pay For This"
November 30 2016 Rev introduces his latest POP, Lemmy. If you don't know who that is, then it's just as well we're quitting cause we don't care about you. Tech brings us up to speed hahah with his viewing of the Flash show. We eventually get to the pointless fucking morass that are DC comics from August. We start with SUPERMAN 4 and 5 and the burning question of how soulds are weigned and what their energy is measured in. Bibbo's back and that's probably the saving grace of the new series. Batcave on the moon. Fuck You. WONDER WOMAN 4 and 5 is still the origin we just can't get rid of. It's fine, it's not new. Diana commiserating in the middle of a jungle, although in character, seems like the wrong time. Steve's dying, 'cause that's really all he does. DETECTIVE 938 and 939 have the bat fam in a tight spot, Robin has a a tete-a-tete with a hacked, and that seriously bores me. Kate is nice, Jacob's an asshole, and eventually Bruce just calls the President to get a good ole' fuck you to Colonel Kane from him. ACTION COMICS 961 and 962 While Luthor and Supes handle Doomsday, sigh, again. Eventually DD gets sent to the phantom zone, and that's probably the best place for him. Although that is already being set up and not worthwhile. LEGEND OF WONDER WOMAN 9 was probably the single best DC book this month, with loose Titans, and Gaia herself providing Diana the kick she needs to end the threat. It's great. We end it all (and after these books, we really wish we could end it all...) with BATMAN 4and 5. The scenes with Duke and Gotham Girl are really good, but this numerological stuff is straight outta Encyclopedia Brown, and that's shit. Gotham Girl starts fighting through the Psycho Pirate's influence, and I liked that. Anyway, that's the end of this ep but you don't care, lolwhut.

Episode #261 "We All Know I'm a Porcupine Apologist"
November 2 2016 TJ missed the premiere of Supergirl, and wonders about why Lex has to be there. Mentions S2 of Gotham; all while watching "Pod", about a freakazoid living in the woods. It's better we don't have the sound up. July Marvels eventually come into play, starting with BLACK PANTHER 4, whihc is hugely dense, incredibly talky, and unplumbably deep. BLACK WIDOW 5 completes the backfiring of doublecrossing and blackmailing, with the Weeping Lion releasing private info-starting with Tony. INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN 5 features Howard's funeral, where Fury fails to convince tony Howard loved him. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN 11 goes corporate, as the board hires Ghost to break into Tony's lab, whom they have declared dead. SPIDER-WOMAN 9 is the All Wendigo All The Time until Carol interferes and becomes a giant ass to her best friend issue. SILVER SURFER 5 has a planet grateful enough to SS that they shower him with privileges, titles, and gifts. It freaks him out, and Uatu2 confirms he's wiped all of Zenn-La from all memory. DAREDEVIL 9 is a team up book we like with Spidey making an appearance, but Pete doesn't trust him anymore because of the mystical whozwhatsis re-hiding his identity. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 15 Iron Spider-MJ to the rescue. That's where I'll leave that. HOWARD 9 reveals that Mojo has been kidnapping Lea Thompson, and that's goddamned genius. STEVE-CAP 3 is incredibly convoluted and Rick Jones is a hacker elite and that drives me nuts. CAPTAIN MARVEL 7 is the trial of Carol Danvers number 14. the whole book is just a long exposition of "Carol is right!" THOR 9 has 14 different things happening, as Oubliette tortures Agger, the SHIELD agents serve Cul with warrants, and the Agger Imperative is in effect. We end it all with MS. MARVEL 9, where the overzealous Carolteens apprehend Josh-and their complete lack of understanding civil rights send Kamala to talk to Carol. The teens' out of nowhere uniforms are a tad on the nose, we think as well. Episode #260 "That's Some Tasty Anthropoid"
October 27 2016 TechJedi proves just how extensive his sports knowledge is, and that's damn little. We explicitly make known our anticipation of both a new Batwoman book and the WOOHOO! RETURN OF UBER!. TechJedi loves the second season of Gotham, even though Jim Gordon needs to come back to the side of the Angels. TJ finally finishes Deep Suck Nine. Rev watches Supergirl, so that's a start. We mention the latest Midtown Sale; eventually we get to July indies, and we start with the masterpiece of weirdness that is MANIFEST DESTINY 21, which is all Squatch all the Time. HARROW COUNTY 14 brings to the fore Emmi's "kin", other pseudo witches and magical beings, and of course there's an agenda. MIDNIGHT OF THE SOUL 2 begins the chase to find his wife, meeting instead Patsy. PTSD steps in..SHADOW-DEATH OF MARGO LANE 2 has Shadow in a tight spot, and Margo goes out bad ass. EMPRESS 3,4-issue 2's cliffhanger gets resolved in both disgusting and awesome ways, The Emperor goes all scorched earth looking for the fam, a serious amount of plot and action occurs and it's worth your dough. PREDATOR, ALIENS, DREDD 1 presents Dr Rheinshtott harvesting facehuggers, injured Yaujta, and THE LAW. ROM 1 is too basic and setty-uppy to really say much about, but it's ok. DESCENDER 13 is Telsa's story-and as high quality as it is, it's pretty standard. AMERICAN MONSTER 4 pretty much continues to make no sense, and is probably our last issue. LOBSTER JOHNSON METAL MONSTERS OF MID-TOWN 3 concludes the standard wackiness in high fashion and pleases us. CONAN THE SLAYER 1 is, jeez, once more, standard Conan, but likable standard Conan, not boring standard Conan. REVIVAL 41 begins the build up to countdown hard, with Dana and Em cornered, Amish Ninjas to the rescue, and rioting getting out of hand...RAGNAROK 9 has the Fire Demons defeated, and the mythology of goats. VELVET 15 ends it all-go read it. Go buy it. That's where we'll leave it. Ending it all is Sabrina 6, the strange and twisted tales fo the familiars. That concludes episode 260, now fuck off. Episode #259 "Evil Whines"
October 19 2016 We two goof off for a bit and mention current tv watching trends. TechJedi talks about his experience with the new Ghostbusters. We watch MOST LIKELY TO DIE. It's a about as good as it sounds. Eventually it comes down to another DC Week, Starting with LEGEND OF WONDER WOMAN 7+8 featuring some amazing Nazi ass-kicking. Lord Deception kicks around, Diana gives up her power, and through much plot contrivance, Diana, and the Holiday Girls fly into combat culminating in the activation of...A TITAN! We move on to POISON IVY 6, the final issue, with the standard mad-scientist origin, the standard big fight, a fake out death, and the single most boring end page ever-let's get on a bus, bye. SWAMPT HING 6 ends the torture with Arcane revealed, Stranfer, Spectre, and Zatanna fighting the good fight, and some pretty nice stuff between Stranger and Swampy talking about his place in the universe. DKIII number 5 show Bruce in his final prep for the BIG BATTLE, the mob incited by Kandorians, Carrie and Arthur release Clark, and it's all comin to a head. ASTRO CITY 36/37 continues the unbroken and pristine streak of comics perfection, completing the backstory of Mr Drama and the motivation for Drama Queen avenging him. The palate cleansing issue is the music history of Astro City, and it's pretty damn cool. Additioanlly we talk about BATMAN 2 and 3, WONDER WOMAN 2 and 3, DETECTIVE 936 and 937, SUPERMAN 2, and kick it all out the door with ACTION 959. Episode #258 "Mayonnaise and Tentacles? That's the Corollary You Went With?"
October 12 2016 YAY STAR TREK!!! We talk everything we know and like and hate about Star Trek for it's 50th Anniversary! Then we talk some comics but whatevs. We watch "Spiders!" which is just the weirdest. Eventually we get to the June Marvels. We begin with AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 13 and 14; It's really all Regent's story, starting with Orka attacking, Pete ditching business work, and the ridiculously comedic and heartwarming one upsmanship with Pete and Tony, but poor Miles suffers for it. It's genius and fun and action packed. Make sure you read it. DR STRANGE 9 feature the startling revelation of the Empirikul facing the horrible Stephen creature, the theft of the Ancient One's bones, and Stephen's turn at Robin Hood. BLACK WIDOW 4 has an old mentor of Nat's, Iosef, tending her wounds, and providing all the cool old spy-tech to get her into the base, and gets confronted by Anya, now rival, formal friend. It's good stuff and worthwhile. DAREDEVIL 8 pleases us with a Casino Royale riff, and that's what you should take away and go buy it for. HOWARD 8 is a pretty great issue, with Howard visiting Bev, who still adores him, and an attacking Sentinel. AVENGERS 10 is a pretty cool bit of character, with the team in space, kamala fangirling, Miles nervous and....ANNIHILUS! SPIDER-WOMAN 8 continues to please us immensely with a nice twist on Tiger Shark, of all possible fucking villains, and Roger the Porcupine amusing us. MS MARVEL 8 present al cool story of Kamala's grandparents. Character and feelling run through every issue and if you don't read Ms Marvel, you're a terrible human being and hate comics. THOR 8 has some big business intrigue that doesn't quite make it to over the top, but is pretty close, and watching bunches of villains going 'hey, you're ruinin' our game' is just awesome. INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN 4 shows us that yes, all the expected betrayals really were so, Tony starts the hunt for his birth parent documents, and Cassie and Tony actually have a nice heart to heart. It's a good issue. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN 10-Tony is a Spidey mask-that's all I got to say. Steve Rogers-Captain America 2 shows us the breaking of the Cube that created Kobik, Kobik fixing Sin's face, and the obvious and called by TechJedi the second the news story broke revelation that Kobik recreated Cap's entire history retroactively. CAPTAIN MARVEL 6 kicks off the real meat of Carol's involvement in Civil War. She's WRONG, and that's the official position of TMGCAST. We finish off with BLACK PANTHER 3, is as dense as lead. Packed to the ceiling with high concepts and vengeance, it's almost too much to jam into one issue, particularly this early on,. but damn it's good. .Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #257 "All Star Wars All The Time 2-Summer 2016"
October 07 2016 It's the Star Wars episode, and the timing is weird because now Kenny Baker is dead. We talk about the fun that was Terrificon-with sigs, books, pals, stories, man. Especially fun was the Dan Slott writing story. We watch DragonFyre with a Y! Eventually we get to the Star Wars books with the new HAN SOLO1- which, initially, seems far out of character-until the race across the galaxy brings the brash out. POE DAMERON 2, 3, 4 presents us with egg hatching gods, Imperial agents, dogfights, and Lor Sen Tekka's next stop. Then Poe and company become captives of the Hutts-There's some small romantic scenes, and the triumphant return of GRAKKUS THE HUTT! STAR WARS 19 finishes up Rebel Prison, and the end making fun of both Luke and Han was worth everything. STAR WARS 20 then switches gears back to Obi-Wan's history-featuring Black Krrsntan tracking Ben down through Owen and Luke. Ben is summarily beaten senseless, till Luke drives Krrsntan off. STAR WARS 21give us teh newly bad-ass Sergeant Kreel and his Elite Squad of White Armored BAD ASSES. You don't need anymore than that. Except the lightsabre! DARTH VADER 21-23--it's all coming to a head as Aphra is apprehended, Vader has to take out a Star Destroyers' worth of troops, fights the cyber-rancor to a standstill, and there's just massive intensive awesomeness every page. We eventually shoehorn the boring and execrable Obi-Wan and Anakin 5 last ish that we so don't care about it...Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #256 "Blue Nipple and The Ring of Doom"
September 29 2016 The Rev tells us about his Suicide Squad watch. It takes a long time to get through. But eventually we get to the June DCs, being: ACTION COMICS 957-958-which confuses the crap out of us. Honestly. We dunno where the kid comes from. We dunno why Clark is dead, or even WHICH ONE IS DEAD. That's poor. Doomsday is back again, but that ship has sailed. WONDER WOMAN 1 is all about Diana, in the jungle, on walkabout, trying to find the jungle oracle to reveal herself. Followed by animal men and...CHEETAH! AQUAMAN 1 is the same as all other Aquaman 1's-a lot of set and Black Manta attacks. FLASH 1 teams Barry with Bats and Wally makes his appearance. He wanders, morose, that he can't do more FOR JUSTICE!. It's ok but it's not exactly an award winner from our perspective. GREEN LANTERNS, PLURAL 1 brings Simon and Jessica to what was supposed to be an alien crime scene, but end up with a hobo with a shotgun. DETECTIVE 934 and 935 Is Bats kickin Azraels ass, and I'm fine with that-but that's where I drop off. Gotham's heroes are under observation-by COLONY! BATMAN 1 is now the second Batman #1 I own, and I'm still not rich, so what does THAT tell ya. Bruce officially gains the capability to completely ignore fuckin all physics, including comics style. It's too much, frankly. Batman is not fucking Maud 'Dib riding a goddamed sandworm. Bah. SUPERMAN 1 The Kents move in and rebuild the farm, and kid-supes meets the neighbor girl. GREEN ARROW 1 continues the Rebirth 1 story with human trafficking and Ollie and Dinah's relationship rocketing forward despite their manufactured disagreements. We close it off there for another week. .Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #255 "That Is A Filthy Angry Comic Book"
September 21 2016 We talk amusement park capes, with lights; and watch KILLER MERMAID. Minor speculation on Suicide Squad. We start in on the actual comics for June's Indies with MANIFEST DESTINY 20-featuring conquistadors, squatch, eating squatch, hallucinations, and ominous findings...MIDNIGHT OF THE SOUL 1 is the story of a ptsd ridden writer post WW2 with a philandering wife, and murder mysteries...HILLBILLY 1 brings us more supernatural back-country weirdness, told infallibly and drawn incomparably. LOBSTER JOHNSON METAL MONSTERS OF MIDTOWN 2 continues on with the mystery of spelunking engineers, Hyperboreans, and mecha, mecha, mecha. HARROW COUNTY 13 brings back the call of the cornfield. Ghost scarecrows, monsters, witches gifts, and awesomes. DESCENDER 12 is Tim 22 backstory-which features neglect, outright hate, and android murders. REVIVAL 40 continues the events coming to a head with riots, murder, and the escape of the soul-shmoos. JAMES BOND: EIDOLON's new villain-Hawkwood-tells us clearly he's a villain cause he kills his accountant. HELLBOY IN HELL 10 seemingly finishes the saga, with an empty hell and the story of the remaining captains of hell. MERCURY HEAT 10 ups the ante even further if you can fuckin believe it, with the Crossed Plague escaping even though the perps were caught. We top it all off with SHADOW: DEATH OF MARGO LANE 1 Shadow has to track down the Tong's new leader, The Red Empress-trailing from NYC to Shanghai and back...Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #254 "Hi, I'm Lex Luthor, Bald By Choice"
September 7 2016 Rev quacks and we watch Mexican Gangsters. It's a short one but it's important-it's all DC REBIRTH. So you may wanna skip it all. We salute Jack Davis, Richard Thompson, and Mr. Garibaldi himself, Jerry Doyle. We love the Wonder Woman trailer, mention Suicide Squad, and are disappointed with the dearth of actual fucking comic news from comic-Con; although that's nothing new and really, we should get over it. But we won't. We're geeks, we don't get over a goddamned thing. ANYWAY. We start with GREEN ARROW, which hands us a standard 'oh the homeless are disappearing" routine, he argues with Dinah, who is unconvinced of Ollie's integrity. SUPERMAN is next and it's seriously confusing here-having missed the events of The Last Days of Superman, we don't know which Supes died, which one lives, where his kid came from, etc. Doomsday's back and I don't care. FLASH plays on the annoying tropes of the fast guy always being late, and the frustrated paragon who just cares so much, dammit. Wally's around, and that's fine. Barry consults Bats, which is nice. AQUAMAN begins our journey with yet another lecture of the importance and scale of the oceans-but frankly, if you cared about Aquaman enough to pick this up, you knew all that this was telling us. It's quality, but nothing new. And that's disappointing. WONDER WOMAN honestly, seriously, comes off as a fanboy complaint about Diana's inconsistent origins and characterizations. Rev doesn't agree, but I don't need him too. The one clever bit is turning the lasso of truth on herself. BATMAN has Calendar Man all Punishered out and that makes me weep. Duke is recruited for the BatJunior position, and the main tension is the complete lack of remembering Batman's rebreather. It's dumb. TITANS is the getting the band back together routine-Wally speeds around touching titnas, which just seems dirty-and then they remember him and bring him into the folds of Titan Love. GREEN LANTERNS ends our episode with the new GL's Jessica and Simon-harrassed angry mid-eastern man, overseen on probation, and Jessica the agoraphobic/ptsd affected reluctant hero. They have to go off on a missions that's really a set up by Hal, whihc is alright, but the co dependence he sets up seems forced. At any rate, that's rebirth for right now. There's another ep coming with the second wave of Rebirths, so watch for that. Or don't. I dunno...Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #253 "Hot Damn, MODAM"
August 31 2016 We watch the 2.5 star "Last Survivors". It's a Marvel ep, and that means it's monstro sized madness. We start with the Riri news, then jump into AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 12 brings us Regent, Ghost, and becomes a fun but fairly traditional Marvel Team-Up issue. We like it. AVENGERS 9 premieres the New Wasp-Nadia-who seems to be a fun character, while Jarvis makes the hangar livable. It's OK. PUNISHER 1 volume...whatever the hell, focuses on one of Frank's old commanders, nasty face-skinning drug dealers, DEA Agents, and more. we dug it, but the time is not right for us to have anew Frank book. BLACK PANTHER 2 is SUPER complex and you should just read it. it's worthwhile, but resists summarization in such a small space. BLACK WIDOW 3 is next, having Nat stabbed by a kid, on a mission for the Weeping Lion. The de riguerre flashback style story telling is killing me and it's use in the ancillary solo box is getting tiresome, really. INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN 3 Howard was right should be a new marvel catchphrase, as Cassie is in fact double crossing him, and the Mandroids have the drop on him, and he gives up. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN9 The Board is revolting, Riri is making armor, Rhodey confronts Yukio, Ninja Girls show up, Doom mak3es maneuvers on Tony's girl, and Tony's disappearance was a ruuuuuse...HOWARD THE DUCK 7 is in the Savage Land, and really, you don't need anymore than that. SILVER SURFER 4 concludes the arc with a moral wash of saving Earth by deleting Zenn-La. It's a feel good book, and we're fine with that. THOR 7 gives us Dragon's blood, Bodolf the untamed, ancient Viking battles, and a lot of really coolness stuff. MS MARVEL 7 is one of the more enjoyable issues as SCIENCE FAIR TIME! comes. It's Kamala vs Miles with pocket nuke reactors, flying sharks, and more and it turns out as you'd expect. DR STRANGE 8 is a desparate quest for the last crumbs of magic...and it's not enough. CAPTAIN AMERICA VOLUME 32 1 is exactly what i told you it would be. It's well done, but you guys have to lay off the parallel story telling, you fucking bastards. SPIDER-WOMAN 7 is next, with Jess back from parallel dimension and fighting her gender swapped self. DAREDEVIL 7 is the Dallas it was all a dream issue. Sigh. CAPTAIN MARVEL 5 is all deception, betrayal, biomechanical viri, and the real traitor is found out as being just a class warrior. We kill it all there...Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, leave us voicemail at 275 533 4910 and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #252 "Alcohol and Coffee Keep Me From Hurting You"
August 24 2016 We watch "Mexicano Barabaro". It's about as it sounds. Eventually it's up to the DCs-but the Whovians and the DWEEKS, which seriously, is the single worst fandom name ever. We discuss new characters and legacy characters. Kicking off the show proper is JL 3001 #12-frankly, not the best work from this team ever, and wow, it doesn't end any better than it ran to begin with. SINESTRO 23 is largely Wrath of Khan with power rings, due to the teraforming weapon the Red Lanterns want. LEGEND OF WONDER WOMAN 5 and 6-and it's Diana's awakening as a political and superheroic being from newsreels-and also sexism in the early forties. She confronts the Duke, and it's pretty damned good. BATMAN 52 is the heartfelt end we didn't get last time, and Alfred is a human being of supreme caliber. POISON IVY 5 has teen plant babies. And monsters. And The Green. And strip bars. Nuff said. STARFIRE 12 It's a month of bittersweet endings, as Kori loses her job, her house, and must move on from her now-close friends, since there's no such universe anymore. SWAMP THING 5 has The Spectre. you don't need anymore than that. DETECTIVE 52 Jim Gordon flambes a god. That is sufficient enough description for you. ASTRO CITY 35 is Ike's journey through the history of Jack in the Box-the kind of Legacy character DC only wishes the could fuckin' do. We end it all with the event of the century-DC REBIRTH 1. Just listen to it-I don't have the energy to retype that shit. ..Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, leave us voicemail at 275 533 4910 and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #251 "BEWARE THE AMISH NINJA!"
August 17 2016 It's May's Indies for this ep. TechJedi reminds everyone that yeah, those WERE bullets in the GI Joe cartoons. Tech reminds you there are free comics to be had when you pay attention to us. TechJedi also reminds you that he was fuckin' Nostradamus about Steve Rogers and Hydra. We watch BLOOD VALLEY: SEED'S REVENGE, which is ridiculous. We kick off the books with AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE 9-paragon of horror books, filled with revelations and literal deals with devil-like beings. SABRINA 5 has finally graced the universe with it's publication, showing us how real witches get out of convictions in court. MANIFEST DESTINY 19 begins...SQUATCH!. 'Nuff Said. AMERICAN MONSTER 4 takes on a funerary journey, and some existentialism to boot. ALIENS: DEFIANCE 2 shows the intelligence and savvy of combat synthetics, but has the classic turnaround of 'oh we're safe" to "oh shit we're not". HARROW COUNTY 12 is the original hainted house. Heh heh. WAR STORIES 18 finishes the Hans The Bastard line, with recommended reading. EMPRESS 2 Follows the family to Antares, and teleporting, and cliffhangers of the literal sort, babies falling into monsters moths, etc. It's fun. REVIVAL 39--well--just read it, seriously. It's convoluted and awesome and weird and cool. LOBSTER JOHNSON: METAL MONSTERS OF MIDTOWN 1 gives us several ludicrously awesome art-deco-mecha, connected somehow with society ladies, missing engineers, 200 lb bombs, and more. HELLBOY IN HELL 9 finishes us out, with a demonic trio recanting the tale of their fallen lords, attacking Hellboy, and HB's very own wife..Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, leave us voicemail at 275 533 4910 and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #250 "Vader Don't Date"
August 09 2016 This is the big 250 kids-and introducing a new format-Star Wars books will be their own episode bi-monthly. The Marvel eps are too damn big so Star Wars gets their own.We mention the bad movie and move on to the memories of our on con, bad puns, and more.We eventually get down to cases with STAR WARS 17 and 18-with twisted philosophical viewpoints on killing prisoners, Liea leading the taking back of the prison, and we finally, finally see what the fuck nerfs are-as Luke and Han need to pay the Rebellion back for losing supply money on gambling. Rewired assault droids figure in prominently. We move to OBI WAN AND ANAKIN 3 and 4 features a dead world; all war materials are salvaged, and honestly, the world building is lacking; the team splits with Anakin taken by the females, and Obi-Wan discovering the sanctuary of the last cultural curator. Palpatine manipulates Anakin so easy-handedly, and Anakin is so young and dumb it's hard to read. We resignedly move on to C-3PO, him being given a simple escort quest, to get a 1st Order droid back to Ackbar-along with the standard quest trials that whittle the participants down to 3po alone-and the final denouement explaining the red arm. It's the classic Sgt Rock everyone moving to their strength and dying before the mission is over. POE DAMERON 1 blows a lot of beautiful but uneventful pages in the quest for Lor San Tekka, his X-Wing flitting through caverns to eventaully find a giant egg and doofuses worshiping it. The backup story however is fun and adorable. We end the episode with DARTH VADER 17, 18, 19. The intrigue and action continue during the wrap up to the Shu-Torun War-lava craft, Vader ripping vessels up with his sabre, Aiolin asking to be trained, people dying plots within plots-000 gives a rousing speech-and Vader finally ending the war, leaving a Stormtrooper in overwatch-who will learn to dance. Thanoth cliffhangs us with a revelation....Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @TMG_Cast, leave us voicemail at 275 533 4910 and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, and occasionally see what we have to say textually at www.TMGcast.com

Episode #249 "ALL MY KAMALAS"
July 28 2016 It's the April Marvels, and they're HUGE. TechJedi saw X-Men Apocalypse-and we have to kinda start with a sigh. The he launches into 15 minutes on the flick. Anyway, we jump in eventually starting with AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 10 and 11. The fight with Scorpio commences, Spidey beibng saved by Parisians till Anna Maria rescues his ass. Which is fun. Spidey attacks and Scorpio escapes. Peter determines Scorpios position vis-a-vis Parker Industries. All this time Fury's on a a satellite and that's funny. Eventually Spidey finds a way through it all and we kinda dig it. DR STRANGE 7 Regales us with the Empirikuls' origin, which unfortunately is kinda thin. There's Lovecraftian elements, deaths, and assault on the sanctum, and it's all great. HAWKEYE 6 has the standard 2 plot element so prevalent and tiring, and Bart's island figures into it. CAPTAIN MARVEL 4 has Carol consulting T'Challa, Coulson, and Rocket, about finding the saboteur. Cap's powers are back and she can breathe in space now. Prisoners are taken, and the plot thickens. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN 8 Ninja lightsabres. You'll have to read the rest yourself, cause that's enough for me. INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN 2 Tony has taken a bullet for Cassie and recuperates at her faminly manse; Howard picks him up and is taking no shit. Mandroid fight. Go read it. It's fun. CAPTAIN AMERICA 7 is a huge book with many stories.Pleasant Hill, Kobik, The Amerigun. Ugh. Tim Sale and Baseball. It's well worth getting. CAPTAIN AMERICA 8 continues Pleasant Hill, there's a tea party, and it's tight and fun. DAREDEVIL 5 and 6 It's the culmination of the 10 Fingers arc, with the release of a Fist, embodiment of The Hand's mystic power. 10 turns on his congregation, attempting to kill them to save face. 10 fingers meets his doom, and Blindspot saves the day. In 6, Elektra is back, demanding to know-where's her child!? Ms Marvel 6 is the conclusion of All My Kamalas as giant Kamala-Golem crashes the engagement party and kamala has to call in Carol-who has the satellite pull and Enterprise, taking care of things from orbit. Carol and Tony and Kamala's convo alone is worth the price of the book. Episode #248 "Sigh. There's Always an Abandoned Lab"
July 21 2016 It's a DC episode, and the movie is some semi-kung fu detective thing. We can't handle that so go to SHARK LAKE. We jump right into books with DARK KNIGHT III number 4-with Supes captured and imprisoned, Gotham is under threat, and Yindel recriminates. It's an improvement. STARFIRE 11 is winding the whole thing down and Stella is unhappy and worried about Kori's impact on teh town. This in turn worries Kori, and it's all very heartfelt. BATMAN 51 is a standard if entertaining "night off" story-with plot points being set and villains just kind, "nope, not tonight. It's fun. SWAMP THING 4 is the villain monologuing issue, with teh now powerful Cable revealing his ulterior motive. It's good. It's not amazing. HARLEY TEAM UP 3 is, frankly, and i hate to even go this way, but overwrought, overwritten, and overlong. Dan Didio is a literal demon and it's not nearly as punchy as it could be if you're going to try to skewer someone as a demon. POISON IVY 4 Plots and characters are revealed, and it's Ivy Unleashed. SINESTRO 22 Soranik grudgingly settles into the leadership of the Yellow Corp as Sinestro catches out Yellow dissidents and the Red Lanterns appear. LEGEND OF WONDER WOMAN 4 shows us Diana having landed outside Boston and meeting a pair of old coots, the male of which won't stop yammering. She meets the ebullient Etta Candy, college kid and singer. BATGIRL 50 It's the big bad team up issue where everyone pulls together like a TEAM AND FAMILY YAY! to stop The Fugue from implanting false Batgirl-negative memories. With victory assured, a new batcave is built. DETECTIVE 51 shows us a fill in/flashback arc as Jim goes back to Afghanistan to complete a mission from the past, with mummies and lost Marines. Finishing up as ever with ASTRO CITY 34 wraps the Steeeljack/Cutlass arc nicely, fitting in fights, explanations, trials, and denouement as only Busiek can. Oh, and some Lovecraftian nastiness. Episode #247 "Ditko Is The Anti-Kirby"
July 13 2016 It's March's Marvel and TJ is talkin bout cutting titles. Completed runs and bad books and blahhhhh. We just jump on in with HAWKEYE 5, nearly wrapping up a perfectly fine series that went past it's split-tale motif expiration date. HOWARD 5 brings in Collector, Silver Surfer, The Guardians, and we denouement with Surfer severing Hoawrds Nexus capabilities. INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN 1 Mandroids! Secret histories! Espionage! Fathers! It's young Tony mackin' and attackin'! SILK 6 is our last Silk book, as Cyndi gets debriefed and attacks Goblin Nation with Mockingbird and Black Cat. SPIDER-WOMAN 5 lets us have it both barrels with new mother syndrome, but in the most humorous and touching way. Then they pull out Razorback. So that's fun. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN 7 MJ lays down the law to Tony and really, that should make your issue right there. DR. STRANGE 6 is the meat of the Last Days of Magic story, as The Empirikul begin their assault on the Sanctum-which activates defensive shrubbery. STOP DRILLING, YOU'VE HIT OIL. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 9 Arachno Rocket. Satellites shot down. Web-Chuting from space. This. Is. The. Fun. Stuff. ALL NEW AVENGERS Kamal has Vision as a substitute, and presents her with a record of all the Avengers adventures ever. Night Phantom sets up our next book with his appearance...AVENGERS STANDOFF ALPHA 001. Hill lies, Rick Jones is no longer A-Bomb, and that's all I need, really; it's a strong start for the latest entry in events that only set up other things. CAPTAIN MARVEL 3 seems a tad convoluted with self regenerating bombs, Mar-Vell's memories, fusing spaceships, and more. It's well put together mostly, but it needs to be more straightforward. EXTRA-ORDINARY X-Men 8 brings back Sugar-Man, distorts the difference between genetic engineering and mutants, and that is the top of the curve, it's all downhill from here. The new BLACK WIDOW 1 is classic Natasha, rebelling against SHIELD and stealing things. MS MARVEL 5 A Gaggle of Golems. 'nuff said. THOR 5 finishes us off with the continuing fight of Odin and Thor, asteroids being weapons, betrayals, Destroyers, political marriages, elves, it's got it all. Episode #245 "WHEN BOY-DROIDS ATTACK!"
June 29 2016 We slaughter The Lion King's opening lyrics in this ep, then present out theme song. Or not. Then launch into a timely thing for once, bitchin bout NYCC. It's ridiculous, and we aint going. Eventually we launch into the March Indies, starting with the magic that is WAR STORIES 17-Hans the Bastard Strikes! You don't need much more. MERCURY HEAT 8 continues the danger of the Crossed as the whole science base turns against Louisa in an exciting and action packed ish. REVIVAL 37 is a pretty neat ish, presented character's own visions of the life as they had wanted it. They're all stuck being strippers, tattoo artists and weed dealers. DESCENDER 11 wows us like usual, with twists and turn arounds and betrayals...you must read it, damn it. HELL BOY AND THE BPRD 1953 2 moves forward with the Demon afghan hounds, mysterious substitute teachers. HARROW COUNTY 10 Introducing the new characters of Lovey, Early, and Clinton, Bernice takes center stage as Lovey's history is played out. BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA 11 is the issue where time travel takes the forefront, chiming in our intent to leave the book forever-as Lo-Pan is seemingly a big wheel for the good of man throughout early 20th century San Francisco. JAMES BOND VARGR 5 pleases us with deathtraps to escape, cyborgs to drown, and the title's namesake.
