A group of students submitted a video, which won a $10,000 grand prize in the national contest.Take a look at the amazing winning video here. Holy Cross Announces Band Director Cameron Mayfield  Holy Cross School has announced the hiring of Cameron Mayfield as its Tiger Band director for the 2019-2020 school year. Mayfield replaces Mike Orkus ’67 who is retiring in May after a 48-year career in Catholic education, including 28 years at Holy Cross.A graduate of Northwestern State University, Mayfield has worked as a clinician with several bands throughout the New Orleans area and across the state and is a designer of custom marching shows for band programs all over the South. For the past three years, he has been the drill designer for the Holy Cross Tiger Band and has been present at summer band camps to give instruction on the competition shows that he has written for the group. Seniors Inducted into Holy Cross Alumni AssociationOur Class of 2019 celebrated a very special milestone today as they attended their senior luncheon where they were officially inducted into the Holy Cross Alumni Association.Students were seated with alumni representing various decades, professions, universities and life vocations. It was a great opportunity for them to share with these soon-to-be graduates what Holy Cross has meant to them in their life’s journey. Albe, Jr., a 1971 graduate, for his business and philanthropical achievements and we thank him for his significant contributions to Holy Cross School.   Holy Cross Band Director Mike Orkus Announces Retirement Following 48 Years in Catholic Education  Holy Cross School’s Tiger Band director Michael Orkus has announced his retirement at the end of the 2018-2019 school year. A 1967 graduate of Holy Cross, Orkus has served in Catholic education in the Archdiocese of New Orleans for 48 years.Orkus spent 28 years at Holy Cross, where he has served as band director, dean of students, religion teacher, founder of the Tiger Cub Athletic Club program, and transportation director. In 2018 he returned to Holy Cross and led the Tiger Band in their appearance in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., on New Year’s Eve.
