His deep latin musical roots fused with his world-renowned music education at the University of North Texas make up the origins of his unique sound. Richard DeRosa received a Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Composition in 2015 for his big band composition “Neil”. He is a tenured full professor and Director of Jazz Composition and Arranging at the University of North Texas. Mr. DeRosa’s most recent project was Joey Alexander with Strings where he served as conductor and arranger. The concerts premiered at Jazz at Lincoln Center in October 2018. Since 2012 he has conducted and arranged music for the West Deutsche Rundfunk (WDR) Big Band in Cologne, Germany, and served as its chief conductor from 2014 – 2016. Amongst those projects, Mr. DeRosa arranged and conducted the music of featured legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter on the CD recording My Personal Songbook (2015) and the CD Rediscovered Ellington (2017) that features Garry Dial and Dick Oatts. Together they created unique and modern arrangements of rare and unheard tunes by the Duke. Other projects with world-renowned artists with Patti Austin, Kurt Elling, Joshua Redman, Stefon Harris, the New York Voices, Richie Beirach and Gregor Huebner, Marvin Stamm and Bill Mays, Ola Onabulé, and Warren Vaché. Since 2001, Mr. DeRosa has arranged and conducted music for Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra featuring Renée Fleming, Norah Jones, Willie Nelson, Annie Ross, Abbey Lincoln, and Toots Thielemans among others. In 2005 he was a featured arranger for the Wynton With Strings concert. In November 2013, DeRosa contributed eight arrangements for Stephen Sondheim’s A Bed and a Chair: A New York Love Affair starring Bernadette Peters and premiered by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. His most recent project for the JLCO was Bernstein at 100. Other commissioned arrangements have been recorded by the Mel Lewis, Gerry Mulligan, and Glenn Miller big bands, vocalist Susannah McCorkle, rising trumpet star Dominick Farinacci and acclaimed solo violinist Anne Akiko Meyers. Commissioned arrangements for orchestra include the Kansas City Symphony, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Pops, the Portland Maine Pops, the Czech National Symphony, the Metropole Orchestra, and the Swedish Television and Radio Orchestra. His publications for public school jazz ensembles are available through Alfred Music (Belwin Jazz), Smart Chart Music, J.W. Pepper, Barnhouse Music, while several of his works for professional bands are available through Sierra Music. Dr. Brian N. Perez is a saxophone and woodwind performer, educator, and composer.  Dr. Perez is Director of Jazz Studies and woodwinds at Texas Southern University where his duties include directing the jazz ensembles, teaching jazz curriculum courses, teaching the woodwind studio and coordinating the jazz area. Under Perez’s direction the TSU Jazz Ensembles have performed for the Jazz Education Network National Conference with Kirk Whalum, the Texas Music Educators Association Conference, the HBCU Band Directors Consortium, The Houston Urban League, has hosted the Essentially Ellington Regional Competition and is currently working on releasing an album this year. Perez holds D.M.A. in saxophone performance from the University of Maryland College Park in 2014.  He graduated with honors with a Master of Music in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Miami, holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Minnesota Duluth, and has studied at the L’Aula Conservatori del Musica in Barcelona, Spain.  Perez’s teaching career has includes 10 years as Assistant Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Ensembles at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).  Here he also established a program in Jazz and Popular Music and served for two years as Department Coordinator. Past positions include Salisbury University, Miami Dade Community College, and has served as guest clinician for University of Miami Young Musician’s Camp, the Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival, as well as others. Perez is a regular member of the Conrad O. Johnson Orchestra and the Houston Jazz Orchestra - which was recently awarded a Disney Motif Award for performance and outreach. He has also performed with artists such as Tom Harrell, The Cab Calloway Orchestra, Ruben Blades, and the Temptations. As a solo artist he has performed nationally and internationally including Spain, Colombia, and Venezuela. Perez’s latest album Blues for the Current Status of Your 401k is a high-energy voyage that explores the depth of sound of his unique compositional and improvisational style. Tony Barrette is a professional saxophonist and repair specialist. In addition to co-owning TB Winds, he teaches woodwind instrument repair at the University of North Texas (UNT) to undergraduate and graduate students. Before moving back to Denton, Tony worked as a saxophone repair specialist at Meridian Winds in East Lansing, Michigan, where he had the opportunity to work for the saxophone studios of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. Tony was also previously based in Boston, Massachusetts. Although many TB Winds customers are locally based, many customers live around the country and ship their instruments or travel to Denton to work with Tony. Tony currently performs in Denton nursing homes through Texas Winds Musical Outreach and subs with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. Melissa Robinette was born into the circus and spent her early days traveling on the road. Immeidately after high school she left her small town in Northern San Diego with her first union card and sailed around the world performing on cruise ships. Toshi Clinch is a renowned Australian arranger, performer and educator currently located in Melbourne, Australia. His works have been performed globally in Europe, America, Asia and Australia by artists such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Tommy Dorsey Big Band, Dick Oatts, Danilo Perez, James Morrison, various X Factor and Australian Idol finalists, West End vocalists, and many other ensembles. In 2016 Clinch graduated with a degree in Jazz Arranging from the prestigious University of North Texas where he studied under Grammy Nominated composer Richard DeRosa and Grammy Award Winning bassist Lynn Seaton. Following his studies he recorded his debut big band album Vesuvius that featured an all American version of the Toshi Clinch Big Band. As a bassist Clinch has performed alongside Vincent Gardner, Dick Oatts, Ed Soph, and Pat Coil, and is currently an arranger for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. In 2018 Clinch directed the inaugural Big Band Through The Ages Jazz Festival in Melbourne, Australia to great acclaim. The festival featured artists from the USA working with hundreds of Australian students and educators over a period of two weeks. During the final performance, chief artist Richard DeRosa titled Clinch as “the Quincy Jones of Australia” referencing the production work undertaken to run such a large event. Mara Penatzer and Cait Simpson are creative partners who co-founded Dwellings Arts, a non- profit dedicated to creating arts events that center work by artists who identify as women, non- binary, LGBTQ+, and/or POC; providing artist resources and paid performance opportunities; safe(r) workplaces in the performing arts; and financially accessible workshops/retreats/ residencies and professional development for artists. They perform together in music/poetry projects The Greys and Dirty Words. Mara studied jazz piano performance at the University of North Texas and composition at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is a faculty member in piano and composition at the Community Music School of Springfield, a teaching artist for CMSS’s El Sistema-inspired Sonido Musica program, and a piano accompanist for various ensembles/recitals at the music school. In addition to performing currently with The Greys and Dirty Words and as a solo pianist, she toured and recorded with hip hop theater project Mixed-Race Mixtape. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical social work. Cait is a performance artist and writer living in Northampton, MA with her partner and small gaggle of pets. She is the vocalist and 1/2 of the writing team of jazz inspired indie rock group The Greys. She also performs with her spoken word/original music group Dirty Words. She has experience in organizing events and fundraisers as well as advocating through creative works. Jordan Coffing is a well established vocalist and songwriter in the DFW metroplex, her style is evocative and captivating, playfully finessing even the most sophisticated melodies, all the while displaying a tone that is lush and compelling. Coffing attended the world renowned High School For the Performing and Visual arts in Houston TX and holds a degree in Vocal Jazz Performance from the internationally acclaimed University of North Texas, where she had the opportunity to learn from living legends such as Rosana Eckert, Bobby Mcferrin and Peter Eldridge. Jordan is a seasoned session vocalist and performer. She started recording at the age of 8 singing as the voice of Tracy Partridge in the 1999 biopic "Come On Get Happy" and at 15 recorded the background vocals for a TV theme featuring Chaka Kahn. Coffing's voice is dynamic, versatile and spans multiple genres including choral, pop, jazz and country. As a performer, she has played alongside Dallas' top musicians for events such as the Industrial Street Pop Festival and Jazz On The Green at Klyde Warren Park and can also be seen performing her original music-an eclectic mix of indie rock and jazz-under the moniker RHU. Rosh Roslin, is an LA based guitarist, drummer, producer and tech. A graduate with honors from musicians institute bachelor’s program. Both on and off stage and in the studio and preparing for tours, he has worked with Andy Grammer, Def Leppard, Melissa Etheridge, Steve Vai, Dweezil Zappa, A Perfect Circle and a host of other artists. After playing trumpet throughout school Rosh picked up the guitar and became part of the thriving San Diego punk scene, home to bands such as Blink 182, Rocket from the Crypt and more. After a few false starts with college, a brush with death and a month long hospital stint, he was inspired to throw caution to the wind and move to LA. Corey Christiansen is becoming recognized as one of the preeminent jazz guitarists in the world. In the fall of 2008 Corey assumed duties teaching at Utah State University and the famed Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Because of his life in the music business he brings a “real world” environment to the classroom. Even with a busy academic schedule, Corey still tours and continues to record. This professional experience enhances his teaching as he is able to bring real-world experiences to his students. He is also an artist-in-residence at Atlanta Institute of Music (Atlanta, GA), and Broadway Music School (Denver, CO). Corey Christiansen has a number of publications with Mel Bay and has conducted countless guitar clinics and concerts across the country and beyond including Europe, South Africa and Australia. He has also performed at many notable festivals and venues including John Pisano’s Guitar Night in Los Angeles, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Clearwater Jazz Festival, the Monterey Next Generation Festival, the Daytona Beach Jazz Festival, the Syracuse Jazz Festival, the Park City Jazz Festival, and the St. Louis Jazz Festival.
