Welcome to another episode of the Three Men And A Football podcast. In this episode, we make our predictions for the Premier League and more for 2021. Everything from big transfers to managerial departures to the winners and losers of the big competitions. Happy new year from the lads at Three Men And A Football. What a year it’s been for the Premier League. Who have been your stand-out players? Who stepped up their game during 2020? Which players would you have in your team if you could pick from the entire Premier League? We are kicking off 2021 by naming our 2020 Premier League Team Of The Year. We start this weeks episode with our own teams and then we attempt to agree on the best 11 players from 2020. Couple of rules; Selection should be based on form during 2020. No more than 5 players from any one team. In a year where Liverpool have dominated the Premier League, it was always going to be a challenge to stop Thomas simply naming the Liverpool 11, which is why we came up with rule number 2. We ended up with a really strong team but can you do better? On this weeks festive episode of the Three Men And A Football podcast, we go through a mid-season Premier League review. We talk about each team, how they have performed so far, what we believe the future holds and the players to watch for the rest of the season. We also talk about the annual Ben Williams Charity match in association with the #followyourheart foundation and the Vitals Signs heart charity. We played the game at South Liverpool on Sunday with a great group of lads and an amazing turn-out for a great cause. Michael is 40 on Wednesday 9th December and we wanted to pay tribute to him, his football career and his ongoing fight with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Tony talks about Michael’s amazing football career and the amount of trophies he won while playing for Waterloo Dock AFC, one of Liverpools most famous and successful amateur teams. On this weeks show we spend time with friend of the show, actor and big football fan Philip McGuinness. One day he’s working alongside global superstars like Stephen Graham and the next he’s giving acting advice to Thomas Morris. It’s one extreme to the other in the life of an actor. We spend some time talking to Phil about his acting career and dig into his love for Everton and David Beckham. Yes, he is an Everton fan but his most memorable football moment was Beckham scoring from the halfway line. I bet he makes all you blues very proud. Ha ha! We end the episode by having Phil join us in reviewing this weekends Premier League action and dig into all the talking points from a big weekend. Highlight of the show had to be Phil setting Thomas up for a bit of acting practice by turning him into a Chelsea fan for an audition. Let’s just say it didn’t go well. Definitely one of the funniest episodes we have ever recorded and Phil was an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Billy is a long time friend of the lads and has been involved with the Liverpool amateur football scene for about 50 years. Billy has played for and managed some of the best amateur teams in the city and refereed at the top level of the professional game. Having managed Old Xav’s for many years where Simon and Darren played, Billy is now the Chairman of South Liverpool, where Thomas managers and Simon and Darren continue to try to play the game they love. Billy shares stories of his playing, managing and refereeing days, including a run-in with Alex Ferguson while refereeing a cup game involving Man Utd. He’s had some amazing experiences and loves to talk so this is a long one.
