4 Ways to Be Fit This Summer!
Summer is here and I am so happy to experience the longer days and warmer temperatures! Although I am a January baby, my fondest memories and most enjoyable times have happened during summer! I love the heat, the sun, the flowers, the bees, the lightening bugs, even the mosquitoes!  I love being able to wear shorts and flip flops and jump in the pool or lay on the beach. I love being in vacation-mode and that is just how I feel in summer months. I promise you when I retire, it will be somewhere that feels like summer year round. Somewhere in the Carribean perhaps? Hopefully! But in the meantime I would like to check in and see if you are still getting and staying fit this summer. I mean, what’s the point of all this wonderful weather if you are too sick or overweight to enjoy it? I thought the best way to motivate you would be to remind you of the four very practical and unburdensome ways Osse’ Lessage presented to us in one of my podcasts. Osse’ is an international fitness trainer and helps people get fit everyday. Here is what he suggests to his clients: Cut back on the sugar! Why? Because sugar adds pounds to your waist line! It also contributes to low energy as it can initially cause a quick rise in glycemic levels making you feel a burst of energy but it quickly brings you down. So the energy you get from sugary treats is just a fascade. You will surely crash and probably hard. Additionally, sugar contributes to chronic conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc so it’s best to cut it down or out altogether. Set realistic fitness goals! You know yourself better than anyone else so you already know if you are up for waking up at the crack of dawn and running 6 miles. I know I would probably never do that so why would I set myself up for failure? I am more inclined to run a mile or two but I am most likely to stick to a workout that involves lots of different exercises and changes regularly. So “to thine ownself be true”!
