#26 Where is God in all of this trouble?
Today I’m spending some time reflecting on the general troubles of the world and also some specific issues of the day in light of the already-but-not-yet paradigm of scripture. As always, the Bible has wonderful answers to life’s toughest questions. REF Music by Ben Sound

#25, Spiritual Gift of Tongues
On the podcast today, What is the Spiritual Gift of Tongues? Is it just other languages? Or is it something more? Has the gift ceased? How should it be practiced? REFS Douglas R. A. Hare, Matthew, Interpretation, a Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching (Louisville, KY: John Knox Press, 1993), 65. #24 Christian Antinomianism, Noah Stepro, Kairos
Sorry this episode is coming so late! On this episode I’m talking to Noah Stepro of Kairos, a pastor and good friend of mine. We are discussing Christian Antinomianism. We get a little political, a little philosophical, and very biblical. Enjoy! REF The King Jesus Gospel, Scot McKnight: https://amzn.to/2QZDPME

#23, The Power to Rise Above, Ephesians 4:14-19
This week at Sonrise we experienced a powerful message of God’s rescue from the desperation that plagues our society and people. We all have a great need for inner strength and that strength is available to us through Christ by His spirit that dwells in us. On this episode of TWH, I intro the message, but I wanted you, my listeners, to hear what it sounds like when I put the analysis from the podcast into a message for the Church.

#22 Revealing God’s Administration to the Rulers and Authorities in the Heavens, Ephesians 3:7-10
Finally back after a crazy couple of weeks and excited to dive into some Unseen Realm context. In this episode I talk through the way that the God works through the church to declare His authority over the nations to the rulers and authorities in the heavens. Who are the rulers and authorities? What role do they play in history? In redemptive history? What are they doing now? And what do we do about them? #21 Preconversion Discipleship, Andrew Alesso, Thrive LA
In my Instagram, @theologywithfeet, I asked my audience if discipleship begins before or after someone professes to follow Jesus. Over 75% said after. [Dramatic Pause] But, the scriptures testify otherwise. The testimony of the scriptures is that of preconversion discipleship; that is, discipleship–the making of a disciple–begins before someone even believes in Jesus. On this episode, Andrew unpacks this idea in the New Testament, demonstrates the importance of the teaching for Western culture, and gives us a few pointers on how to make preconversion discipleship happen. #20 One People of God, Ephesians 2:11-22
Trypho asks, “Are Christians Israel?” Justin answers, “we are both called and in fact are Jacob and Israel and Judah and Joseph and David, and true children of God” (Justin Dial. Tryph. 123). In this episode I unpack Ephesians 2:11-22 and compare it to the broad teaching of the NT regarding the continuity and discontinuity between the church and Israel. What did Paul believe? What did the early disciples believe? What did the church fathers believe? Why do we care about this issue and what do we do about it? #19 Against Consumerism and Individualism, Ephesians 2:8-10
On this podcast I’m talking through salvation by grace through faith (see infographic). Specifically, I’m targeting consumeristic and individualistic ideologies–and as a bonus, Moralistic Therapeutic Deism. If you don’t know what that is, give it a listen! It’s real. Ephesians 2:8–10(CSB) 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—9 not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do. #18 Regeneration, Ephesians 2:1-5
On this week’s podcast, we’re doubling up again to tackle the doctrine of Regeneration through Ephesians 2:1-5. What exactly changes in us when we come to Christ? Why do we care? And what do we do about it? Ephesians 2:1–5 (CSB) FROM DEATH TO LIFE 2 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously lived according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air (DDD), the spirit now working in the disobedient. 3 We too all previously lived among them [the spirits] in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others [the spirits] were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, 5 made us alive with Christ [regeneration] even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Regeneration is a change of heart caused by the Holy Spirit, who gives life to those who are dead in trespasses and sins by enlightening their minds to understand the Word of God and renew their whole nature, so that they love and practice holiness. Regeneration is a work of God’s free and special grace alone. REF: G. J. Riley, “Demon,” ed. #17 Christ Is Above All, Ephesians 1:20-23
EDIT: Check out my message from Sonrise Church that goes with this podcast as well. I think some of the connections clearer than on the podcast, although the podcast has more of the theological front-matter. https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FSonrisePalmdale%2Fvideos%2F2941655709242875%2F “He [God] subjected everything under his [Christ’s] feet.” Continuing in Ephesians and discussing the authority of Jesus. Does Jesus reign on the throne now, or is that a future event? What does it mean that Christ has authority over everything? Who had the authority before Jesus did? If Jesus is reigning over everything, then why isn’t everyone/thing submitting to Christ? Why isn’t it heaven on earth? [frame your eschatology here] All this and more! REF: Bruce B. #16 The Trinity
On this episode of TWF, I’m discussing the doctrine of the Trinity. Where does it come from? What makes it such a big deal if it’s not mentioned explicitly in the Bible? Is it even in the Bible? What ancient heresies stem from a denial of the orthodox trinity? And obviously, how does the doctrine of the trinity inform our practices as the church? #15 BONUS Episode on Soteriological Comparison
This morning I heard another really bad explanation of arminianism. That’s fine. If you don’t know, you don’t know. But, it reminded me that we are better off if we can speak intelligently about positions we don’t agree with, so I thought I’d throw this out there. Here’s a podcast and an infographic that I hope will serve you will in this discussion!

# 14 Enlightenment through Prayer and Fasting, Ephesians 1:15-19
I’m probably not talking about enlightenment in the way you are thinking. On this episode of TWF, I’m addressing Paul’s pray to the Ephesians, that they be enlightened with a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in knowledge. How does prayer result in spiritual wisdom and knowledge? Can unspiritual people have knowledge? Is all knowledge in the Bible? And more!

#13 The Doctrine of God
On this podcast we’re talking about Theology Proper — not the doctrine of the Son or the Spirit or even the Father, necessarily — but the sub-discipline of systematic theology which deals specifically with the being, attributes, and works of God. There is but one God who made all things, preserves the existence of all things, rules all things, and has in and of Himself all perfections. He is infinite in all power and authority, and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. He is God of gods, meaning that He is higher than all so-called gods in the world and alone is the God we worship. #11 Inheritance, Ephesians 1:11-12
On this episode of TWF, we’re discussing our eternal inheritance and the way that our eternal inheritance allows us to live in the moment, to make every effort to live our lives to the praise of the glory of Christ, and to store up, not treasures on earth, but treasures in heaven. #10 Scripture and Revelation
In this episode of Theology with Feet, I’m tackling two very related subjects that providentially overlapped in our series’, scripture and revelation. Revelation comes from Ephesians 1:9-10. Scripture is the first episode in our Statement of Belief series. Listen in as I discuss the relationship of scripture to God’s revelation and how other forms of revelation come to play at the table with the special revelation of the scriptures.

#9 Redemption, Ephesians 1:7-8
Continuing in Ephesians, we’re talking about the next Spiritual Blessing that is our Redemption in Christ. Redemption is a running illustration, theme, and motif of salvation in the scriptures which informs so much of our theology from the Old Testament and the New. #7 Adoption, Ephesians 1:5-6
Today on the podcast, we got to explore what it means to be a part of God’s family. Who is a part of God’s family? Whose family are we by nature (hint, not God’s)? What are the implications of sonship and how do we live out our sonship before God our Father?
