Meet Katie Leishman and her inspiring story about a trip around the world, witnessing sustainable development examples and a brave decision to quit her job and invest her experience in hospitality and desire to emerge herself in sustainability within the organization the fair traveller. What is slow travel? It is travelling where you take time to get to know local traditions and heritage in a slow way. It doesn't have a pre-defined time period, but it revolves around the idea that you should "stop and smell the flowers" in order to relax from a busy schedule of your "real life" and detach.Hear about Wlad's experience about his crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and the travel trough various countries of South America. This podcast was made in Cafe Mutin, a vegan restaurant (http://beta.thefairtraveller.org/review/974/Caf%C3%A9%20Mutin), which was the last #fairspot of the Geneva #faircrawl event. It was made after a whole day of exploring of the authentic side of this hyper speed city, getting inspired by new lifestyles of low environmental impact, so the participants are a bit exhausted, but still very interested in talking about the experience.In this episode we share a bit of the atmosphere from super fun Geneva #faircrawl. People ask us what exactly is a #fairspot which you are supporting. The means that we give them is to help #fairspot owners by adding them to our community of good doers; so they can share their experience in sustainable actions in tourism, but also learn from other #fairspot owners.Wlad, Catarina, Julia and Petra are 4 comitee members of the non-profit organization called thefairtraveller.org. They are from different fields with a common goal of making world livable for the future generations and are agreeing on the role of sustainable tourism in that change. We discussed possibilities of digital technologies in sustainable tourism, cultural heritage, farm experience with amazing prof. Lorenzo Cantoni on a beautiful island of Seili, in Finland, during the Summer school Co-creating on-the-road ICT solutions to promote sustainable tourism in UNESCO world heritage site (http://www.unescochair.usi.ch/activities-2/summer-school-2018). An academical point of view on the bottom-up actions that are taken to promote sustainable tourism on an international level from such an expert in a relaxed environment is the best way of discussing travelling and culture. Prof. Lorenzo Cantoni's expertise is in eTourism, eLearning, communication, education and new media overlap, ranging from computer mediated communication to usability and various other fields. He is the chairman for the UNESCO chair at USI, a loving father and husband, but most of all, he is invested in responsible living and travelling on a personal and professional basis. Marija Jose comes from Mexico and she is engaged in promoting her culture of Guadalajara for several years now. In this podcast, we had a chat on her engagement in a cultural tourism project in Mexico and the impact it had on the local communities of Guadalajara. We made this podcast in a beautiful villa in Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico, which is an ancient Mayan city revived in the 70es by responsible people who wanted to create a new respectful community.
