Mercuretto
MERCURETTO: The Album. This 1st of a 3-part interview with Shay Drinkwalter. Alexander ‘Sascha’ Tukatsch and Kevin Connelly reflect on their days with New Regime, Platinum Blonde, Kevin’s Son Of The Sun album, Iron Age Mystics, Mercuretto, and casually, why they do the crazy things they do. (original post by Kevin Connelly) Part 1: The Mercuretto album Part 2: Iron Age Mystics album Part 3: Life On Mars (The Sound & Vision Of David Bowie) Part 1: The Mercuretto album Hey, ya’ll – thebuzzr after-hours. We have Mercuretto on the show this week. Mercuretto is … A musical collective presenting reinterpretations of glam era hits and b-sides. From Toronto, band members Kevin Connelly & Alexander “Sascha” Tukatsch are joining us. Singer, composer and actor Kevin Connelly is the band’s Male Lead Vocal. He is acclaimed for his versatility, range, and impeccable voice. Kevin co-founded New Regime, the 80s new waver band. He was the frontman & lead vocalist for Canadian-based Life on Mars project, celebrating the music of David Bowie. He is the founder of the band Iron Age Mystics which produced a 2019 album hailed as “The best political rock album since the Rage Against The Machine’s debut”. Sascha is the band’s drummer, engineer and co-producer. His personal production space in Toronto, BAHM quickly became the hub for the collection of musicians that would eventually be named Mercuretto. It was during this time in 2017 that the body of work for Mercuretto’s debut was conceived, captured, mangled and mixed. Sascha was drum programmer then later joining Platinum Blonde as drummer when Chris Steffler left the band in 1985. It is a great episode! Enjoy! Cheers! https://youtu.be/Opa8ltldR4U Mercuretto continue to dig into the glam – era vault of the 70’s and present you T-Rex’s 20th Century Boy. Originally released in 1973 as a single, it reached Number 3 on the UK singles chart. The original production included Tony Visconti. Since its release, it has been covered by artists such as Ty Segall, Adam Lambert, Bang Tango, Naked Raygun, Kiyoharu, Adam Ant, Drain STH, Chalk Circle, The Replacements, Girlschool, Pink Cream 69, R.E.M., The Three Johns, Scott Weiland, Placebo and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
