How to Twirl a Shit-Show Into Opportunity
When a global pandemic forces us to pivot our businesses and our ideas of life as we once knew it; we call on our creativity to twirl instead of simply being spun. Learn how KC re-imagined her annual summit Tahoe Spark online to continue to cultivate community, foster relationships, and experience energy healing in a virtual setting. She was able to master Zoom and all its capabilities and limits in under 3 weeks, completely re-imagine the event including major changes with her speaker line-up, AND retain 99% attendance turning an in-person event into a virtual and literal success during the early days of social distancing and COVID-19. Our hope is that this example can help you harness the tenacity you have within during these uncertain times for your business while showing yourself some much needed grace.

A Postpartum Pause – and How to Trust Your Business Momentum
Season 2: Episode 1 - It’s a New Year and that calls for a New Season of the Woo Latte! Join Co-Hosts Apothecary of Light & The Funny Yogi as they discuss their journey postpartum…yes, only one of them had a baby, but they discuss how losing a support arm for your business, or the aftershock of launching a large event can be a dePARTure from who you and your business once were. Allowing yourself and your business to take a pause is important, but how do you get your freelancer fuel back afterwards? How do you trust that the momentum return? This fear prevents many Entrepreneurs from taking vacations, making time for self-care, or even taking Maternity leaves. Jessica shares her journey as a new Mommy and new business Owner and how those two seem to collide more than coincide. In the end, both KC and Jessica realize how much they need to pause, to create space, so they can stop doing doing doing all the time and actually visualize and manifest things for their business while at the same time finding the gratitude and wonderment in the fact that both their babies and their businesses will never be this small again. Saying yes to saying NO. Period.
The Funny Yogi & The Apothecary of Light, come to you from comfort of the I-Baby’s new nursery to discuss the practice of saying no, and yes…to naps.Fresh from the Pura Vida vibes of Costa Rica, Apothecary of Light rides the woo waves of lessons learned from taking an intentional vacation just 3 weeks before her Tahoe Spark event. She describes the positive impact on her mental status, relationship, and business. The Funny Yogi shares her WTF reaction to her OBGYN’s prescription of “strategic napping” as she continues to incubate her bundle of joy. She also explains the process of coming to peace with editing non-essentials off the list.Borrowing from Steve Jobs, “It’s only by saying no that you can concentrate on the things that are really important.”, these two recovering good girls discuss reframing saying no from a sense of failure, but instead using the art of saying no as a tool to focus. When we give ourselves permission to say no, we give value to what is truly important to us.

No really, HELP! But only if it's the right fit (Part 2)
Co-hosts Apothecary of Light and The Funny Yogi are back this First Freelancer Friday to bring you, dear listeners of listener-land, the second half of their conversation on walking the fine line of asking/accepting HELP, and *you’re welcome* a reprise of that famous Beatles song. After recapping Episode 6 with the repurposed corporate mantra – “make sure you have the right person on the right seat of the bus” – The Funny Yogi discusses the delicate balance of conditioning her growth mindset by the accomplishment felt when learning new technical skills, specifically software tools for photo/video editing, compared to the ease and efficiency of outsourcing these tasks to a seasoned professional. They both admit the true genius of Simon Sinek’s quote “We all understand the importance of asking for help. Those who achieve big things are the ones who accept it when it’s offered.” And consider its true value in the early startup phase in the absence of positive cash flow. The Apothecary of Light, who admits to really liking to talk about Math (and what is happening on the left seat of the bus), sprinkles in the woo with a yoga metaphor highlighting the duality of effort and ease. Asking where in your yoga practice or a particularly difficult pose can you soften 10%, 5% or even just 1%. Finally, the two express gratitude for the help they receive in their personal lives and emphasize, as always, how important emotional support is when building your own business. Oh, and of course, they toast you with a Cup of Woo!

HELP! Yes please! Let's choose wisely.
Who do you trust with your business, your baby, your business baby? The Funny Yogi is back for a brief cameo as we post on this First Freelancer Friday of the month – while on maternity leave find us here monthly and then … well, we’ll see …Join us as we explore the 6 Ws of how to successfully ask for – and receive – help with our in our business: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and of course the “Woo”! (Whoops – make that 7 – since we only made it through the first 2 plus the Woo in this episode.) Tune in to our next episode for the remaining 4 Ws and a healthy dose of more Woo! Commiserate with The Funny Yogi as she reflects on our bastardized karaoke version of a classic Beatles hit, highlighting “…not just anybody” and perhaps on choosing the wrong “who” to help. She speaks from personal experience about the importance of picking the right person once you finally take the leap and ask for help, and not simply defaulting to the first person to volunteer. Because, we get what we pay for, right?Hear from her “accomplice” the Apothecary of Light about what happens when outsourcing the “what” does not align with your vision. Discover how setting boundaries, defining roles, and initiating difficult conversations are all a part of getting back on track. We learn from our mistakes, right? In the end, and as usual, Jessica and KC choose to view the stumbles along their entrepreneurial pathway as learning lessons. Ultimately, they realize the incredible value in asking for help and choosing that assistance wisely, especially finding the right “what” for the correct “who”. And don’t worry, if at first they don’t succeed, they will try and try and try again – and they encourage you to too. Perhaps that perceived obstacle is just another opportunity in disguise!

We’re STILL Talking about the F - Word
We’ve gotten some great experience with failure lately. You may have noticed our “weekly” podcast has turned into more of a monthly whim. Regardless we do have a part 2 of this conversation on redefining failure and we’re excited to share it with you all today. Our Master of The Woo, The Apothecary of Light, shares probably the best nugget of wisdom yet in this episode when debunking the myth of “A Jack of all trades is a Master of None”. She reminds us of our innate feminine strength and how this may be true for Jacks, but…what about Jills? HAVE YOU MET WOMEN?Learn how to shift your definition of success which you may still be carrying from your old days in the corporate world, (when you were working for someone else), and transition into OWN-ing your personalized metrics of success! Our Woo Girl, The Funny Yogi, challenges her old definitions of success, even within her own business. She discusses how to create metrics based off things we are responsible for, such as our mental state, how many shots we take, and not how many points were scored. Finally the pair end on everyone’s favorite feel good topic: how social media makes you feel like a piece of shit. Especially as a Solopreneur. Do you ever find yourself comparing your behind the scenes to everyone else’e highlight reel? We’ll join the club, and listen in to find out how to combat that natural instinct especially amongst other females.

Yup We’re Talking About The F-Word…FAILURE!
Last week you may have noticed we didn’t publish an episode…#FAIL! This Friday we decided to embrace it and chat about the dreaded F Word! The word “Failure” can sometimes seem off limits as a business owner, the absolute WORST thing you can say or feel…but it doesn’t have to be. Join us this week as we discuss how we work almost daily on reframing “failures” into small & BIG successes! Our Woo Woo Leader, The Apothecary of Light, sheds some amaze-ball tid-bits on how to still claim ownership over “universe signs” instead of blaming the universe or looking at it in a victim mentality. Instead of being pushed by the Universe, she teaches us how to connect to our intuition to guide us and know when failures are truly failures vs when they are actually successes, learning opportunities, guide posts. Our Woo Girl, The Funny Yogi, shares the wisdom of her favorite author Dr. Brene Brown on picking the right people to share your “failures” with…who to tell and confide in can be the most important part in reframing. Overall they both learn that being vulnerable, putting yourself out there to fail time and again, and sharing the “failures” is an important part of both business and self care …“Playing down the exciting stuff doesn’t take the pain away when it doesn’t happen, it does however minimize the joy when it does happen” - Dr. Brene Brown
