As the digital marketplace becomes catered to the big corporate labels, independent labels continue to the lead the way for artistic control and physical music. 

With free tiers, minimal royalties, and algorithms, digital streaming is hardly the savior the music industry thought it would be. 

As the independent record store is showing its resilience to the digital standard, most media outlets are missing the narrative. 

Many things were lost with the takeover of the digital music standard. Perhaps the greatest loss was the human element of music.
