On today’s episode I interviewed Mark Herre. Mark has been offering SEO services to businesses since 1994, I had yet to have anyone on the show to discuss Local SEO so we decided to tackle that as the topic for today’s episode. You can check out Mark’s site over at SEOGame.com We spent a lot of time discussing some must have pieces that will be needed when optimizing your site for local SEO. Setting up Google Authorship, Google Places and using elements to help your appearance in search such as Schema.org and Rich Text Snippet Mark Up. Mark stresses how important it is to work with clients who are willing to take what they have learned and run with it to continuously be able to do their own SEO work after he shows his clients what do to. He compares this to a lot of typical SEO Agencies that will do work for a client and never exactly explain what’s going on behind the scenes, where as Mark wants his clients to learn and be able to produce results themselves. Mark typically uses a lot of web 2.0 sites for ranking his clients content, using free sources such as WordPress.com to create free blogs for his clients to manually create articles and backlinks for ranking content.
