On The Big Screen – Shenandoah University’s Slasher Film: GetAWAY

We pre-recorded our conversation today via Zoom to chat with writer & director Blayne Weaver. He's also Director-in-Residence for Shenandoah University's film program. Blayne told us how the slasher flick, "GetAWAY" came together, the integral role SU students played in production, and explained how his company (Secret Identity Pictures) will take the film to the big screen at several local theaters in the coming weeks while Gravitas Ventures will release it on DVD/Blu-Ray in December. Blayne also talked about the widespread popularity of "Santa Girl" released last year and available now on Netflix and DVD/Blu-Ray. Plus he told us about the upcoming release of "A Cupid for Christmas" (which he also directed) and was co-produced by Shenandoah University. “GetAWAY,” the low-budget horror flick co-produced by The Film Studio at Shenandoah, stars three SU instructors and 23 student actors, including former and current students. Twelve students served on the crew. The movie was filmed during the fall 2018 semester at various spots on main campus, the Shenandoah River Campus at Cool Spring Battlefield and at Buffalo Gap Retreat in West Virginia.
