She played Division One Field Hockey and ran track at American University, and enlisted following her graduation. Last year, she was ranked overall #1 in the United States for Skeleton, a one-man, high speed sled style Winter Olympics event. She is also a member of the Army's World Class Athlete Program. She was an exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist at Stanford University from 2007 to 2012, where she specialized in sex differences of environmental and nutritional considerations for recovery and performance, specializing also in women's health and performance.
