Ep. 15: Jonah & the Mail III
Today, I answer all the questions that have been stacking up in my inbox. It seems that a lot of you had questions about personal finance, specifically what to do with your savings in order to grow it faster. I’ve said many times that saving is losing in the long run because interest rates on savings accounts are so low and inflation often eats it up. I’m so glad to see that my words haven’t fallen on deaf ears because you all are demanding much better!

Episode 14: Affiliate Marketing that Works
The method of affiliate marketing has either gotten a bad name because of spammers abusing it or because of gurus promoting it by saying it's just so easy and it will make you so much money while you sleep without you putting any effort in it. Have you dismissed all of those yet? Because today, we're going to get real about it. The fact is affiliate marketing is no easier than any other form of passive income. It takes a lot of involvement and requires a lot of very hard work. Just the link by itself is useless. People will only click on it when you give them a reason to. And on today's program, I'll show you how to give them many reasons. Specifically 9. You'll have to listen though to hear them. We'll also explore the 3 different models of affiliate marketing. One is awful. One is okay. And one is awesome! But also... Where to put Affiliate Links I stated earlier that the trick to successful affiliate marketing is placing the affiliate links into the content strategically and creatively so that they are not intrusive. So I’ll show you here where are the best places to put those links and how to place them there effectively. A Resource Page Resource pages turn out to be the top earning pages for many authority blogs. Why? Because these pages help people immediately who are looking for something. The solution to their problems end up being only a few clicks away. Sidebar Banner Ads I know I’m trashing banner ads throughout most of the episode, but they’re not altogether useless. The 125x125 ads that appear in the sidebar can be effective if the company that you’re affiliating with spent a great deal of time and money designing those banner ads. If you’ve found a company that’s serious about their affiliate program and will provide you with a great banner ad, go ahead and try it out. It’s always good for a test. If it leads to earnings for you, keep it. If not, then it’s just wasted space on your website that could be better utilized. Within Blog Posts Money should not be the purpose behind the blog post, but when an affiliate product fits into it, it’s perfectly okay to place the link inside it. The real debate is over the obviousness of the link. Sometimes the links are made very obvious like this: I’ve cut down tremendously on my fuel expenses, thanks to the eBook Getting More From Your Gas Tank. Other times these links can be made very subtly, like this: Cars are always an expense, but gasoline doesn’t have to be contributing to th

Ep. 13 Monetized Blogging that Banks (Passive Income Method 3)
Jonah shares the secrets of monetized blogging by showing you how to ensure your blog is taken seriously, make it bookmark-worthy and 8 ways to monetize it. Again, here we have an amazing opportunity as the blogosphere slowly replaces the library and the traditional news media. The everyday man is being rewarded for creating and circulating interesting content. This is one of my favorite kinds of businesses, because you can have full control of it, and it’s largely what I myself do at my website. Whether it’s a blog, podcast or any other form of content that can be distributed electronically, you have the opportunity to make passive income from it. The best thing about it is that the startup cost is very low, and so is the cost of maintenance.
