Phillip Blume of www.theblumes.co is today's guest in part one of a two-part series on how to advertise for, book and photograph profitable mini-sessions with families and kids.

I recently posted in the PhotoBizX Member's Group, asking if they'd like to hear from someone who teaches a strategy or a photographer utilising a successful mini session strategy?

The response was mixed, but almost everyone agreed – both would be perfect!

There were comments like this from Nicole Abbott…

I'd love to hear from the Blumes. Mini sessions are so frowned upon by pro photographers, yet I love them but are yet to successfully make money from them. I'd love to hear their methods.

And this from Mike Glatzer…

I've taken their mini's course, and it's excellent. Definitely something worth checking out because they actually make a significant portion of their income via mini sessions, which is pretty counterintuitive. Plus, they're both wonderful people and just awesome to talk to.

In response to that thread, I reached out to Phillip Blume for this interview.

Phillip and his wife Eileen are husband and wife wedding and portrait photographers from Atlanta in the USA.

I've read they stumbled on a unique way of doing mini sessions that consistently generates $10,000 in a single weekend without watering down their brand.

I've also read they use mini-sessions as a loss-leader to drive business and gain clients.

In this interview, learn precisely which it is and how you can incorporate the same successful strategies in your photography business.

Here's some more of what we cover in the interview:

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs

Each week I check for any new iTunes reviews and it's always a buzz to receive these… for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they really are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!

Secondly, iTunes is the biggest search engine when it comes to podcasts and it's your reviews and ratings that help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners mean more interviews and ultimately a better show.

If you have left a review in the past, thank you! If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL of your website and your name.

The best sales are when you have the right pricing strategy, the right menu, setup that's clear and guides the client to make their own decisions, and we can just sit back quietly and listen. That becomes the most effective sales tool. – Phillip Blume

Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast and email me your keywords or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.

Another great way to get a backlink to your site is to send a video testimonial. It doesn't need to be fancy and your phone will be perfect. Click record and tell me how PhotoBizX has made a difference to you and your photography business.
