Sim racer turned REAL racer with Rudy van Buren | S02E10
Rudy van Buren has twice finished on the podium this season in the highly competitive Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, but his career path to this point has been far from conventional. Starting out in karting, Rudy then focused his effort on sim racing, where his natural talent shone through. This culminated in two GPVWC titles in 2017, the Superleague and International Touring Cup and winning the inaugural World's Fastest Gamer competition to become the McLaren F1 team's simulator driver for 2018. The 29-year-old Dutchman came third in the GT Pro Series and become a Mahindra simulator development driver in 2020 - a role he still holds today, with aspirations of having a test soon. Just how good is F1 2021’s Braking Point story? | S02E07
The biggest feature of the F1 2021 game is arguable the all-new Braking Point narrative-led mode. Playing through a story that mixes cinematics, incidental details and gameplay challenges, you take on the role of young upstart, Aiden Jackson, as he progresses from Formula 2 to a midfield Formula 1 team. You get to select from one of five F1 teams to partner with and joining you as an experienced teammate is Casper ‘Cas’ Akkerman. It’s not just two characters though, as antagonist Devon Butler from F1 2019 makes a comeback, and there’s also Zoe Akkerman and team liaison Brian Doyle to deal with. In this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, Thomas Harrison-Lord and Rich Hutson discuss the highs, the lows, the good, the bad and whether overall, they would recommend playing this new story. Here’s a very mild spoiler warning, but not key character or story elements are discussed, mainly mechanics and overall sentiment. Why Assetto Corsa Competizione is so popular | S02E04
It’s been a long journey, from Early Access back in 2018, to PS4 and Xbox One versions in 2020 and finally – for now – the British GT DLC in 2021, but Assetto Corsa Competizione seems to be in the form of its life right now. With extraordinarily active player counts, and next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X version slated for later in the year, this latest episode of The Traxion Podcast explores why such a serious game that only includes one slightly obscure racing series has become such a smash it for developer KUNOS-Simulazioni and publisher 505 Games. If you’re already playing it extensively, we discuss the highs and lows and if you have not yet tried it, then let us regale you with tales of why it is so good.Hosted by John Munro, with guest Thomas Harrison-Lord. Racing games that have aged like a fine wine | S02E03
We’re back with a brand new episode of the Traxion.GG podcast, and this week we discuss games that have aged like a fine wine.Dodgy episode title aside, this is pertinent, as we live in an age where games are updated, refined, patched and added to post-launch, which means that the original Metacritic becomes less and less relevant.‘Games as a service’ is a term that exists. Some simulators work on a subscription basis. Games have a second life beyond the initial release. So, here are just some games that we think fit the bill as something that has got better with age. Like Ryan Gosling or Sienna Miller, but in video game form.Be sure to let us know some games that you think have got better the older they become and we may revisit this topic in a future episode.Hosted by Justin Sutton, with guest Thomas Harrison-Lord.Visit https://traxion.gg/ for daily racing video game, sim and esports news.

Game development and winning rallies with Jon Armstrong | S02E01
Jon Armstrong is a busy person. Alongside competing in the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship alongside co-driver Phil Hall for the Codemasters DiRT Rally Team, he’s also a game designer at Codemasters during the week. For those who perhaps aren’t aware, Jon starting rallying and working is way up the championships, competing in Ireland, the British Rally Championship, the Junior European Rally Championship, and then onto the Drive DMACK Cup and the WRC 2 competition. But then, faced with the difficulty of raising the budget required to compete at the very top of rallying, he turned to esports, winning the 2018 (and finishing second in 2019) WRC esports competition. This then led to working on the later stages of DiRT Rally 2.0 development, a full-time role at the company and now the opportunity to compete on the world stage once again. The season is going well too, winning the first JWRC round on the Croatia Rally. With all of that in mind, we talked to Jon on this latest podcast episode, discussing his early career, sim rallying and his curent JWRC season so far.
