On Episode 60 of The T20 Podcast, the last one of the season, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey take you through Mumbai’s 5 wicket win over Delhi in the tournament final on Tuesday night in Dubai. Mumbai were made to bowl first and Trent Boult started the party on the first ball of the match, getting Marcus Stoinis out, caught behind first ball. Ajinkya Rahane was also out in the third over and then Jayant Yadav got danger-man Shikhhar Dhawan in the fourth. Delhi’s score was 22/3 in 3.3 overs. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant then collaborated for a 96-run stand and both made half centuries as Delhi managed to score 156/7. Mumbai’s chase saw Rohit top score with 68. And by the time he got out in the 17th over, the team was 137/3 and then it was just formalities as Mumbai won by 5 wickets. It's going to be Mumbai vs Delhi in this season’s finale. After a great magical run, Hyderabad have been knocked after a 17 run loss to Delhi.  On Episode 59 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey take you through Delhi’s 17-run win over Hyderabad that helped them enter their first in the tournament’s 13-year history. Delhi took a big risk, opening with Marcus Stoinis for the first time this season but the gamble paid off brilliantly as he and Shikhar Dhawan smashed 86 within 8 overs before Stoinis got out on 38. Shikhar Dhawan went onto make 78 and Delhi posted a commanding 189/3 in their 20 overs.  Hyderabad lost captain David Warner in the second over to Kagiso Radaba and then Stoinis struck twice in the fifth over, sending back Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey. Kane Williamson gave the team some hope, scoring 46 runs with Jason Holder and then adding 57 runs with Adbul Samad. But once he fell to Stoinis in the 17th over, it was just formalities as they lost 3 wickets in the 19th over as Kabada finished with 4/29 and Stoinis with 3/36. On Episode 58 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey take you through Hyderabad’s 6 wicket win over Bangalore that knocked Virat Kohli’s team out of the tournament. Eliminator 1 of the playoffs was the first knockout match and Bangalore were put into bat first by David Warner. Jason Holder once again proved just what a great replacement pick he’s been this season, sending back Virat Kohli and Devdyut Padikkal and reducing Bangalore to 15/2 in 3.3 overs. AB de Villiers once again top-scored for the team and his half century helped them post 131/7. Wriddhiman Saha sat out of the match due to an injury and Sreevats Goswami opened with David Warner. But the keeper was out to the 4th ball of the chase. Warner fell to a controversial third umpire decision and Pandey was out on 24 and Hyderabad were 55/3 in 8.3. But Kane Williamson and Jason Holder collaborated for a 65-run 5th wicket stand to get Hyderabad one win away from the final. On Episode 57 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey take you through Mumbai’s 57-run victory over Delhi that helped them sail straight into the final. Mumbai actually had a bit of a bumpy start themselves, reduced to 101/4 in 12.2 overs with Rohit Sharma out on a duck and Quinton de Kock making 40. But half centuries from Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan and also Ishan’s 60 run 5th wicket stand with Hardik  Pandya helped the defending champions post 200. Delhi were 0/3 within 2 overs with Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw out early. Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 65 but with Bumrah picking 4/14, Mumbai cruised to victory. Their qualification also means Kolkata are not out of the tournament. The match saw the return of Rohit Sharma from injury but the Mumbai skipper could make only 4 runs before falling to Sandeep Sharma, who also sent back Quinton de Kock, reducing the defending champions to 39/2 in 4.4 overs. The team’s top-scorer was Kieron Pollard who made 41 as they posted 149/8 in their 20 overs. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a third consecutive half-century to help Chennai finish their season on a high and end Punjab's hopes of making it to the playoffs. Gaikwad ended the innings unbeaten on 62 off 49 balls, following up on scores of 65 not out and 72 in the last two matches, and helped Chennai chase down a target of 154 with nine wickets and nearly two overs to spare at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. On Episode 52 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Hyderabad's big win over Bangalore that keeps them in contention for a spot in the playoffs. All-rounder Jason Holder on Saturday pulled a stumbling Hyderabad over the line against Bangalore and took them closer to the playoffs with the five-wicket verdict. With this win, Hyderabad jumped from seventh place to fourth on the points table. Now, as many as four teams -- Hyderabad (net run rate +0.555), Punjab (-0.133), Rajasthan (-0.377), and Kolkata (-0.467) -- are locked at 12 points each. They all have one match left to play, and their final positions could be determined by the net run rate. Mumbai are at the top of the table with 18 points while Bangalore and Delhi are placed second and third with 14 points each. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs. On Episode 50 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Rajasthan’s 7 wicket win over Punjab that ended their five match winning steak. Steve Smith elected to bowl first after winning the toss and the decision looked like a great one when Archer picked up Mandeep Singh’s wicket on the last ball of the first over. However, Chris Gayle was in THE zone on the day as he scored 120 runs for the second wicket with skipper KL Rahul. He got out on 99 though, in the final over, even as Punjab posted 185/4. Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa started the chase brilliantly, scoring 48 runs in the first 4 overs. Stokes got out on a 50, Uthappa on 30, Samson made 48 but they pretty much always looked in control of the chase. On Episode 49 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey talk about Chennai’s 6 wicket win over Kolkata that has severely dented their qualification chances. Instead, the result now means Mumbai have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs and Punjab now have their fate in their own hands. After winning the toss, Dhoni put Kolkata into bat first with some big changes in his team. Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir and Monu Singh were out and in came Shane Watson, Ngidi and Karn Singh. Kolkata opened with Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill again and they made 53 for the first wicket. Shubman got out on 26 in the 8th over. Rana continued on and helped score 66 off the last 5 overs with Dinesh Karthik, before getting out on 87. Kolkata posted 172/5.
 Chennai had young Ruturaj Gaikwad top-score once again with 72 and their chase was cruising, with him and Rayudu at the crease. 55 were needed off 38 balls when things started getting tough. On Episode 47 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Mumbai’s 5 wicket win over Bangalore that puts them in the outright lead in the league standings. They now have 16 points from 12 matches while Bangalore and Delhi have 14 points from as many outings. With Rohit Sharma ruled out of this game also due to his hamstring injury, Kieron Pollard was the stand-in captain and he elected to bowl first. Virat said, seeing the pitch, he wanted to bat first anyway as he made 3 changes to his team - dropping Finch for Josh Phillippe and bringing in Steyn and Shivam Dube. The opening punt worked as Paddikal and Phillippe made 71 runs in 7.5 overs before Rahul Chahar broke the partnership. Paddikal top-scored with 74, Virat was out on 9 and AB on 15 as Bumrah took 3/14 and Bangalore made 164/6. Mumbai’s chase had one hero. Suryakumar Yadav. He stayed unbeaten on 79 and hit the winning runs as well. On Episode 47 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Hyderabad’s big 88-run win over Delhi. It was captain David Warner’s birthday and the 2 points from the win could be the best gift to him as it keeps Hyderabad’s campaign alive as they’re now placed 6th in the standings with 10 points from 12 outings. Warner had taken a big risk in the game, dropping opening partner Jonny Bairstow to make way for Kane Williamson. Dangerous call but it worked out wonderfully as Wriddhiman Saha, playing his second match of thr season, opened with Warner and they scored 107 runs. Warner got out on 66 and Saha smashed 12 fours and 2 sixes during his 87. The team posted 219/2. Delhi were 14/2 in 2 overs with Dhawan and Stoinis out. On Episode 46 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Punjab’s major turnaround that has seen them win five matches on the trot, including the win over Kolkata on Monday night. The team is now placed fourth in the standings and with matches against Rajasthan and Chennai next, the playoffs berth is theirs to lose. On Monday night in Sharjah, KL Rahul elected to bowl first and Kolkata were reduced to 10/3 by the second over with Maxwell picking a wicket off the second ball of the match. Eoin Morgan and Shubman Gill then steadied things with an 81-run stand but after the skipper got out on 40, there was a steady fall of wickets. But Hardik Pandya wanted to celebrate this weekend and he smashed 7 sixes and 2 fours during his 60 off 21 balls to get the team to 195/5. On Episode 44 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Chennai’s clinical performance in their victory over Bangalore. Sunday’s afternoon game saw MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli’s teams face-off and Dhoni announced at the toss that he’d made two changes - Monu Singh and Mitch Santner coming in place of Josh Hazlewood and Shardul Thakur.  Batting first, Virat Kohli top-scored for Bangalore with a half century but Chennai’s bowlers took control of the end of the innings — conceding just 20 runs in the last 3 overs, but more importantly, picking 4 wickets as Bangalore posted 145/6. 21-year-old Rituraj Gaikwad was the star of the chase. Scoring an unbeaten half century and carrying his bat as he stayed unbeaten on 65. Dhoni came into bat when the team needed 33 runs from 39 balls and helped them get past the finish line. On Episode 43 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Punjab’s big turnaround victory over Hyderabad. Hyderabad looked in control of the match for about 70 perfect of the time but in the end, Punjab pulled off another big win to keep their playoff hopes alive. KL Rahul elected to chase after winning the toss. The team were without Mayank Agarwal, who is injured, and played Chris Jordan in place of Jimmy Neesham. Hyderabad’s bowling was on point as Pooran was Punjab’s the top-scorer with just 32 and the team managed 126/7 in their 20 overs. For Hyderabad, Warner and Bairstow made 56 for the first wicket and then Manish and Vijay made 33 together before the chase got real close - 20 were needed off the last 18 balls. On Episode 41 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey discuss Kolkata’s big 59 run win over Delhi. Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana and Varun Chakrawarty helped Kolkata forget the horrors of their 84/8 against Bangalore, and lifted them to a much-needed win. Kolkata were put into bat first and it worked for Delhi, with Kolkata reduced to 42/3 in 7.2 overs with Shubman out on 9 and Karthik out on 3. Sunil Narine then came out to bat and built a 115-run partnership with Nitish Rana. Both players scored half centuries as Kolkata posted 194/6. Pat Cummins celebrated with two big wickets in his opening spell - Rahane, playing in Shaw’s place, got out for a duck and Dhawan fell on 6. On Episode 41 of The T20 Podcast, Ayaz Memon and Mendra Dorjey talk about Mumbai’s 10 wicket victory over Chennai who are now all but out of the tournament. New Zealand speedster Trent Boult's four-wicket haul and an unbeaten 116-run opening stand between Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock steered the reigning champions to an easy win. Going by their poor form -- this was their first defeat by 10 wickets in the tournament’s history -- three-time champions Chennai are now virtually out, but they still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team now has six points from 11 matches, out of which they have lost eight, and are now placed at the bottom of the eight-team table. With Friday's comprehensive win, three-time champions Mumbai have gone atop the table with 14 points.
