17. How to Train Your Brain to Think in New Ways?
Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMɅIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes As many C-suite Leaders we interact with: you may go to the gym to train your muscles. You run outside or go for hikes to train your endurance. Or, maybe you do neither of those, but still wish you exercised more. We spend so much time focusing on improving our body; shouldn’t you also focus on learning how to train your brain to think better ? We all have our favorite mental models, the ones we naturally default to as an explanation for how or why something happened. As you grow older and develop expertise in a certain area, you tend to favor the mental models that are most familiar to you. Here's the problem: when a certain worldview dominates your thinking, you’ll try to explain every problem you face through that worldview. This pitfall is particularly easy to slip into when you're smart or talented in a given area.  As the common proverb says, “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” In this weekly episode, we will share some of the best ways to do this is to expand the set of mental models you use to think. As well, I will share with you some tools  that I am using for thinking better. Enjoy the Show! 1. 14. How does Positive Thinking affect the Leader's Brain?
Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes The prevailing attitude in the workplace can create the conditions needed for innovative growth, or it can lead to a toxic environment where new ideas are unwelcome. The willingness to embrace doing things in a new way and adopting a positive mindset in regards to experimentation are both crucial for a positive attitude in today’s business world.  Leaders are expected to be problem solvers, but no one leader can do everything alone. Effective leaders must inspire others to want to solve these problems, and they should encourage employees to also think outside the box. A leadership style that is harsh, constantly negative and rigid is not conducive to collaboration and instead will likely lead employees to pursue other avenues of employment. Leaders should assess themselves first--are you behaving in a manner that will positively impact those around you? In this weekly episode, we will focus on how can SUPERHUMɅIN™ Leaders tap into the power of positive thinking?  Enjoy the Show! 1. 13. How does our Brain react to Change ?
Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes Even when faced with a life-threatening situation, we tend to resist change despite knowing the repercussions. We see this every day in organisations experiencing change. MIT University found that over 70% of change initiatives fail because of people resistance – not because they weren’t good business ideas, driven by sound analysis, systems and facts. The core of the challenge is changing behaviour—and our brains are extremely effective in tenaciously maintaining the status quo. At the same time we wouldn’t be human if we couldn’t change. Human society is one of constant change and reinvention. Understanding the neuroscience of change and how the brain works during change can help you manage change resistance and develop strategies to maximise our brain’s capacity for neuroplasticity.  In this weekly episode, we will focus on how can we leverage our brain’s capacity to approach change and reshape habits that no longer serve us and adopt new, more desirable attitudes and behaviours?   Enjoy the show! 1. 11. Why Performance Management Needs to Become Feedback Management
Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes 2020 has been a year like no other. In May and June of  last year, we have surveyed (with support of Neuroleadership Institute) 688 people from organizations in different industries, different locations, and of different sizes about performance. About half of respondents reported having at least some difficulty focusing on routine tasks. It’s no surprise that when half your employees struggle to focus, an entire organization’s performance suffers. So we’ve come to the conclusion that these trying times demand that we modify, if not completely rethink, our approach to performance management. Luckily, we have the brain science to show us how to do it. Here, we’ll dig deeper into ways SUPERHUMAIN Leaders can apply our research to performance management in this new reality, namely by having more, and better, conversations.  In this weekly episode, we will focus on how can an organization facilitate a flow of quality feedback, build resilience and engage their teams ? In a phrase, growth mindset is a key ingredient in the performance management process.     1. Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. 8. How to improve decisions making and performance while you are underpressure?
Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes Today’s business environment is best described as VUCA – Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. VUCA is, quite simply, the expression of the fact that the rate of change is outpacing our ability to adapt. As a result of this, businesses, industries and careers are disrupted faster than ever before. Leaders have to seriously rethink about how they lead themselves, others and their organisations. Old ways of leadership have to give way to newer mental models based on agility in decision making, critical thinking, adaptable learning, people orientation and responsiveness to change. 6. How to mitigate Bias in your Performance Management process?
Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes In this weekly's episode, I am sharing  some insights about the performance management process that you are going to engage with your team members. Underlying this process is the belief that by reflecting on people’s performance and codifying it in an evaluation form, we will be able to assess their merits objectively, give out rewards fairly, and offer useful feedback to help them develop in the next year.  But while we may strive to be as meritocratic as possible, our assessments are imperfect and all too often biased. Leaders, What got you here, Won’t get you there Get acquainted with our latest neuroleadership insights and strategies while moving up to become a SUPERHUMAIN™ Thinker. Episode Notes In this weekly's episode, I am sharing some insights about large companies that, today, across the board, in a variety of industries, are thinking about ways that they can invigorate their growth, and they turn to innovation, especially during this pandemic period. But the reason I am doing this episode — what I found from my research and my and my consulting activities — is that a lot of larger companies struggled to get started. Many of the world’s most successful business people will tell you that the difference between success and failure in business comes down to your staff.
