Ep.36: Hot Mom Flashbacks
The guys are back in their comedic rhythm today! Mike Speenberg and Brian Stephens spend this episode trying three different porter style beers while digging back into memories of their latchkey kid days. Along the way, they come up with new catch phrases for marque beers like Guinness Extra Stout & Schlitz Malt Liquor and Brian shows off one of his little known super powers. The guys also discuss why Atlanta, Georgia has become one of the World’s best vacation spots for craft beer lovers and then, finally end the debate on exactly what this show is really about… well, almost. Ep.35: Train Wrecks and Band Banquets
Ok, we admit it. This episode is a total train wreck… but in such a good way. Come watch Mike & Brian work to get their comedic rhythm back while they talk about Mike’s arrest (and 100 hours of community service), why Jeff Bezos isn’t the only person with a ‘Pecker Problem’, and how Brian is such an expensive dinner date. We look through old pictures sent over by Mike’s Mom and show you pictures of the guys’ High School formal dates. Then, we take a walk back in time to find out what a “Band Banquet” is. Ep.34: Reunion (with Atlanta beers)
It’s been almost 7 YEARS since the last episode with Mike Speenberg & Brian Stephens hitting the Interwebs. Well, like Thin Lizzy used to sing “The Boys Are Back In Town” and a whole lot has changed! The guys catch up friends & fans of the show on all that has gone on in their lives during the hiatus. They joke about divorce, remember good friends who’ve crossed that Rainbow Bridge, and share simple & cost effective solutions for people looking to build The Wall (in the room over your garage). There are lots of callbacks to previous episodes and shout-outs to some of amazing guests from the past. You’ll also get the full origin story on their now iconic sign-off “S-S-Boom!!” Along the way, the guys try some great beers from Atlanta-based breweries like: – Atlanta Brewing Company: Homestand http://AtlantaBrewing.com – Second Self Company: A-T-Ale https://SecondSelfBeer.com – Monday Night Brewing Company: Slap Fight (IPA) http://MondayNightBrewing.com Before you go, check out TWO things: 1) OUR SPONSOR: SESSION ACE – https://SessionAce.com 2) MIKE’S STAND UP SPECIAL: http://DryBarComedy.com/MikeS

Ep.33: Like Father, Like Son
Mike is out with a sick wife this week. So, Brian is joined by his 14 year-old son Bailey. Together, they give you a glimpse into what life is like around the Stephens’ household. The idea of getting inside the mind of a 14 year-old boy growing up in 2012 is pretty scary, but believe us when we say, it’s pretty entertaining. Topics of discussion include: 1) Girls — Which one Bailey currently has a crush on and why Bailey thinks that make-up is not very important in making a girl look “pretty”. 2) Rated R Movies — Father & son talk about watching their first Rated R movie together and which Rated R movie Brian saw first with his own Dad back in 1982. 3) Parenting — Brian imparts a few nuggets of wisdom to his son which you may (or may not) find useful in your own life. Bailey also shares take on Brian’s unique brand of parenting, including why Brian moved Bailey into a smaller room. [SPOILER ALERT: So Brian could build a new podcast studio] This week’s beers: Specialty Root Beers — Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer, Abita Root Beer and Bunderburg Australian Root Beer. Brian’s Surprise Beer Pick: Rogue’s Voodoo Donut Bacon Maple Ale.

EP. 32: Most Uninteresting Men In The World
This episode speaks for itself. Maybe we should call this episode “Trouble In Paradise”… I hope you like soap operas! Maybe you’d rather watch Mike’s new concert movie: Pizza And Corn (www.PizzaAndCorn.com). Seriously, just watch this new episode and enjoy. Nothing more to tell you about this episode other than “You’ll laugh. You’ll Cry. You’ll Wish You Had Gotten A Tooth Pulled Instead.” Or maybe you go get a copy of Mike’s new concert movie , “Pizza And Corn”, which can be bought at www.PizzaAndCorn.com for as little as $5. This week’s beers: Spring Seasonal Beers – Shiner Spring Ale and Magic Hat Vinyl.

EP. 31: Hey Look! It’s Van Morrison!
After a month + away from the podcast, it’s GREEN SCREEN MADNESS. Brian & Mike christen the new podcast studio in Brian’s house with Episode 31. Through the miracle of modern technology, the guys will take you from an Irish pub to the Bahamas in less than 3 seconds! The new podcast suite at BonzoTunes Studio also allows for special pop-in guests like Creepy Van Morrison. Also, get ready for TONS of talk about Mike’s new DVD: Pizza And Corn. After a month with no podcast, the guys have very little to talk about. So, thanks for tuning in and we will see you next week………………………. Now that all the “drive-by rubbernecks are gone”, here’s the real scoop for all the real fans of the show: The guys talk about DEATH. Following the death of several friends and family in Brian’s life and Mike’s near death experience while para-sailing & cliff diving simultaneously in the Bahamas, we get both dudes’ opinions on dying, death, and what happens after we “bite the big one”. They also talk at great length about Mike’s new concert movie / DVD, “Pizza And Corn”, which can be bought at www.PizzaAndCorn.com for as little as $5. After that, the guys talk about Bill Cosby, why Brian is so long winded, Mike’s opportunity to appear on a new reality television show, why TV needs stereotypes, and why all Southern people aren’t stupid, intolerant, self-righteous idiots. They also talk about the filming of Mike’s new concert movie / DVD, Pizza And Corn, which can be bought at www.PizzaAndCorn.com for as little as $5. (The DVD version also includes Suds And Buds, Ep. 30: “Mexicans Beers & Stripper Girlfriends”) Oh, one more thing. Brian tells you the easiest way to set up a quick booty call… according to his next door neighbor (Todd). And of course, Brian & Mike talk throughout the whole show about Mike’s new concert movie / DVD, Pizza And Corn, which can be bought at www.PizzaAndCorn.com for as little as $5. [Marketing research says consumers need to hear about a product 3 times for them to remember it and, subsequently, convince them to buy said product. So, they’re gonna tell you at least 12 times so you’ll buy 4 copies] This week’s beers: Island Beers — Commonwealth Brewery’s Kalik and the Jamaican lager Red Stripe.

EP.30: Porch Drinking and Mexican Beers
Never before seen on the Interwebs, this is the infamous “Porch Drinking and Mexican Beers” episode that was available only as an ‘easter egg’ / bonus content on Mike Speenberg’s 2012 “Pizza And Corn” DVD. Today’s Beer’s: Mexican themed – Carta Blanca and Pacifico Clara If you digging the podcast, please share it with a friend, post this episode to your social network page, or better yet, pull it up on your phone and watch it over a friend cold ones with your buddies!!

Ep.29: They Do GREAT Work!
It’s been another couple of weeks since our last episode. Your hosts have been up to a lot in that time but none of that stuff included thinking about cohesive show topics or preparing an outline. So, what you get today is Brian and Mike in complete “Stream of Consciousness Mode”. Please don’t hold them accountable for the things that come out of their mouths for the next hour. They have not thought about what they’re going to say ahead of time or what the lasting effects of what their words will be… ok, it’s pretty much like every single week on this show except they don’t have an outline this week. Today’s show topics cover a wide landscape and include such diverse & varied topics like: 1) What is the quintessential Rock-n-Roll beverage? 2) Mike’s first TV appearance as a latchkey kid 3) Can you turn someone gay by sticking his head in a toilet? http://media.blubrry.com/sudsandbuds/storage.googleapis.com/bs-podcast-files/sudsandbuds/sab_ep_001.mp3 [Sounds serious… I know. But believe me, it’s probably just a lot of half-told stories and half-baked thoughts] These guys also hit a TON of other topics, come to some long needed epiphanies, and solve absolutely NONE of the world’s problems this week. ENJOY! Today’s Beers: Smuttynose IPA and Smuttynose Robust Porter.

Ep.28: Botched Fake Robbery
After a couple of weeks of, our hosts return to talk about the recent brewmaster class field trip. The guys also welcome a few friends to the podcast. Joe Pettis and Jeremy Mesi are both Atlanta-based stand-up comics. They’re on the show to pimp their live Comedy & Beer nights at the Sweetwater Brewery… and to be robbed at gunpoint… you’ll just have to watch (or listen). Since there’s not a whole lot of time and I’m two weeks late posting this, I’ll get right to the point. Thanks for listening or watching. We love and appreciate you all. Today’s Beers (all made by Atlanta’s own Sweetwater Brewery): 1) 420 Extra Pale Ale, 2) Exodus Porter, 3) Happy Ending Stout.

Ep. 27: Breakups and Makeups
On the show this week, Brian and Mike talk through some of their relationship issues. (Welcome to this emotional roller coaster they call “friendship”, everybody.) It’s a real peek inside the dynamics of this very odd couple. This whole episode may leave you wondering, “Are they breaking up… again?” Let the guys know you’re pulling for them to stay together, Al Green-style, by emailing the show at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Other topics today include: 1) Mike’s trip to Burke Mountain, VT and his glimpse into why people with kids don’t have as much sex. 2) Why Mexicans don’t ski. 3) The guys’ biggest fears… or Mike’s biggest fears and why Brian is so afraid to share his biggest fear. (Strap in cuz this one *might* get a little serious.) Today’s beers: Two award winning beers from Unibroue – La Fin Du Monde and Trois Pistoles

Ep.26: Brian Writes A Joke… Almost
Today, Brian’s first joke and Mike’s last rental car BOTH run out of gas. Hang out with the guys while they talk about all sorts of stuff including: Valentine’s DayVan Halen’s New AlbumThe Dead Cell Phone Time WarpFavorite 80’s 3D MoviesFavorite Beer To Wash A Toe Nail Down With Today’s Beers: Several varieties of brews from Thomas Creek.

Ep.25: Live From Speenberg’s Sticky Couch
This week, we do the show from Mike’s couch in Smyrna. If ever there was an episode that shows you what happens when these two guys hang out, it’ll be this one. Here is Brian & Mike with absolutely no structure, no outline, & no purpose other than drinking beer and talking about what happened today. The main topic that they “talk around” is Mike’s steaming fresh fight with Amy. [Brian’s Note: I think she could kick his ass] As a result of their argument, topics for this show include: 1) The core difference between Mike & Amy that are the root of why they’re arguing 2) Why vocally charged arguments between spouses can be healthy 3) How much sex Brian *isn’t* having at home. (…and you thought they would save a few of the World’s problems this week, right? No such luck, folks. Just beer and laughs.) We would like to dedicate this show to Alex Albrecht & Kevin Rose from Diggnation. Thank you for 341 episodes and all those years full of geeky “good times”. This week’s beers: Sweetwater Brewing’s “Sweet Georgia Brown Ale” and Sam Adams seasonal “Alpine Spring”.

Ep.24: Redheads, Red Faces, & Red Ales
Today, we’re back to just your co-hosts Brian and Mike with one big difference: NO HEADSET MICS! Since neither guy put together an outline for the show AND because there’s a complete lack of broadcast-style, head-worn sound reinforcement, Episode 24 proves to be the most conversational of all the Suds & Buds episodes. The guys even usher you behind the comedy curtain and reveal the kind of thoughts that rattle around in their near empty heads all day long… like how much Farmville and people who play it suck, why Joe Paterno *really* died, and why Mike shouldn’t enter any contests involving measurement and his “naughty bits”. This show has more topics than any other episode… too many too list in fact. So, here’s a sampling of the riveting subject matter you will hear them discuss today: 1) Dirty secrets of the entertainment business… OR How anybody that can fog a mirror and write a big enough check can have access to any professional or celebrity in the entertainment business. 2) How Suds & Buds is *not* a “show”… OR How anyone expecting these guys and this program to look or sound anything like what the majority of humans would consider an acceptable representation of a broadcast presentation or “show” is an idiot and completely misses the point of podcasts and podcasters. 3) How Brian is an actually an alien… OR The evidence to support a hypothesis that one of the program’s co-hosts may actually be the cornerstone of an elaborate plan by an alien civilization to infiltrate the general populous of this planet, indoctrinate it with intentionally distorted information, and lay the ground work for a complete take-over of the Earth and its human inhabitants for the sole purpose of… well, THAT part we haven’t figured out yet… but give us time. In honor of redheads like Brian’s wife, the guys try two red ales, including Fort Collins Brewery’s Red Banshee and Thomas Creek’s River Falls red ale, and one beer with “red” in the name: Red Brick Brewing’s Pale Ale. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic(s) you’d like to hear us talk about in future episodes.

Ep.23: SURPRISE! …yep, you’re old.
It’s Brian’s 40th birthday today! So, he celebrates it with Mike and three of his other good buddies as we tape another episode of the show. Today’s entire discussion centers around Brian’s surprise birthday party and the idea of getting older. Find out what sorts of things the guys are better at in their middle age period and what types of activities they can no longer engage in. As usual, one of these guys steers the discussion toward sex. Other topics include: 1) Masturbating in a tanning bed2) How Mike learned how to swim.. in a bath tub3) Brian & Mike’s failed attempt to see the Van Halen reunion, with David Lee Roth, together To go with the 40th Birthday theme, Brian has picked out two beers from the Four In Hand brewing company: Four In Hand’s Winter Brew and the Four In Hand IPA. Six packs of these beers can be found for exclusively at Whole Foods for only $5.99. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic(s) you’d like to hear us talk about in future episodes.

Ep.22: It’s Light Beer, Stupid
It’s the very first show of the New Year! So, Brian and Mike are going to help you find ways to lose weight AND drink good tasting beer. The guys also talk about their New Year’s resolutions… okay, let’s be honest. They start to talk about 2012 resolutions and then, it spirals into complete chaos. Other topics include:1) The top New Year’s resolutions that most people make2) What happens when Mike gets hammered on free microbrew beers,3) Mike’s treatise on the difference between “inner vagina” & “outer vagina” women… and something he calls “the bean”. (We don’t think episode this would be an effective tool for teaching your kids about sex or how to lose weight in a healthy fashion, but it is good for a few chuckles.) Today’s show is a showcase of three great tasting light beers that are very low in calories. These beers include: Amstel Light, Yuengling Light, and Sam Adams Light. Two of these beers are only 95 calories per serving while the other is still a great calorie saver at 119 calories for a cold 12 oz. bottle.. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic(s) you’d like to hear us talk about in future episodes.

Ep.21: Look Who Came Home For Christmas
Merry Christmas, everybody! This week, Brian & Mike welcome Johnny Stephens (Brian’s Dad) to the show. Against his better judgement and the wishes of Brian’s Mom, Johnny sits with your hosts for an hour and dispenses sagely advice on topics ranging from shaving your scrotum to staying with the same woman for 43 years. (Not sure if those two things have *any* correlation at all? I guess you’ll just have to listen / watch to find out!) Off camera, you will also get short cameos from Brian’s Mom and his 14 year old son, Bailey… both of these people were smart enough to stay hidden behind the camera for the duration of the show. Other topics include:1) The guys’ $10 Christmas gift swap2) Johnny’s visits to an African American brothel during the mid 60′s3) Anything else that Johnny cares to talk about (…this is probably this *MOST* ADD-ridden episode of all time!) This week’s beer selections are Christmas themed and include: Shelton Brothers’ Ridgeway Lump of Coal Beer, Shmaltz Brewing Company’s Messiah Nut Brown Ale, Winter White Ale by Bell’s Beer, Shelton Brothers’ Ridgeway Seriously Bad Elf, and Santa’s Private Reserve by Rogue. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic(s) you’d like to hear us talk about in future episodes.

Ep.20: Dead Rockstars and Foot Fetishes
This week, Mike & Brian do everything possible to stay away from politics. Religion’s gonna get some face time on the show. You can almost set your watch by it. But, this week’s episode takes on a whole new twist. After talking about the death of comic great Patrice O’Neal, Brian & Mike discuss what they would each do if they knew they only had 24 hours to live. I know it sounds heavy, but trust us, there is plenty of funny to be had here. Other topics include:1) Great comics & musicians who have died prematurely due to lifestyle choices2) How the guys’ Dads show their love & affection3) Shotgun Sherri… yes, a HOT gal who shoots guns!! This week’s beer selections are in honor of the political discussions from Episode 19. Made by the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco, CA: 1) BREW FREE! OR DIE IPA and 2) Back in Black, a black IPA. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic(s) you’d like to hear us talk about in future episodes.

Ep.19: You Got Planked, Dude!
This week, Brian & Mike do something that two friends should never do together… no, not “go to a massage parlor”. They talk about religion AND politics in front of a camera & microphones. Originally, this whole show was supposed to simply be about getting ready for Christmas but they went down Tangent Blvd. only to end up squarely on Drunk Talk Drive. This is the most serious & passionate your hosts have ever gotten about anything… ever. NOTE: The possibility of a fist fight in this episode is VERY high! Topics for this episode include: 1) Decorating for Christmas, both as a kid and now2) The heightened emphasis of religion on this year’s political candidates3) Why Nickelback’s music stinks and why you should not vote for anyone who listens to it. This week’s beer selections are made by the Full Sail Brewing Company in Hood River, Oregon:1) Session Lager2) Session Fest Lager There is also a very important opportunity to hang out with Brian & Mike at a brewery hidden somewhere in this episode. Now, you have to listen to every single minute of this episode to get your chance to spend an entire afternoon with your hosts doing what they do best: drink expensive beer & circle the block in tangents and rants. Just listen to Episode 19 find out how you can be a part of the fun! Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic(s) you’d like to hear us talk about in future episodes.

Ep.18: Holy War With Your Little Soldier
You can easily consider this to be Part 2 of Episode 17. The guys pick up right where they left off in the last episode (but with better audio). Mike has had an entire week to marinade on some of Brian’s revelations and he has a few more questions for Brian. Some of the answers will leave Mike (and you) shaking your head in disbelief. Other topics this week include: 1) Mike’s preparations for an impending Holy War2) Why certain men (including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tiger Woods, and [sometimes] Herman Cain) are able to have almost ANY woman they want3) What the guys believe Heaven and Hell are really like Sounds like really heady stuff but, trust us when we tell you, what these guys reveal this week will present you with more questions than answers. In the process, we can guarantee a few belly laughs, a couple of tears, and (perhaps) you might even pee your pants at least once. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic you’d like to hear us talk about. This week’s beer selections are all made by the Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, CO: The three beers the guys try out are Avery’s The Reverend, Hog Heaven, and Salvation.

Ep.17: …About 45 Minutes?!
After two weeks and a few technical issues, your beer discovery gurus are back! This time around, the guys talk about Brian’s recent vacation to Disneyworld down in Orlando, FL. As a result, there is a whole lot of talk about amusement parks and roller coasters. Other topics this week include:1) Peer Pressure: A Good or Bad thing?2) Why Brian’s parents always rented condos on their family vacations3) Mike’s favorite thing to do when he’s bored at home, in a car, or on an airplane. **Brian has also issued a public apology for the poor audio quality of this episode. We used a completely different recording set-up and things did not run smoothly at all. This week’s beer selections are all made by Lagunitas Brewing, located in Petaluna, CA: The three beers the guys try out in the Lagunitas IPA, Lagunitas Imperial Stout, & Lagunitas Bavarian-Style DoppelWeizen. Take a few minutes to email Mike and Brian at Beers@SudsAndBuds.net. Let us know how much you love the show, what your favorite beer is, or if there’s a topic you’d like to hear us talk about.
