People, Portraits, Pageants w/ Brittany Link Photography
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans you will hear an interview with Brittany from Brittany Link Photography.  Brittany was a pageant competitor for 9 years. She is a former Miss Minnesota High School 2009, Miss Minnesota Teen 2010  and Miss Minnesota 2012!  Brittany, specializes in pageant headshots and gown photos. Her photos have won multiple state and national pageant photogenic awards, with the summer of 2017 bringing home 5 national photo wins. She also has a ton of artistic people in her family who brought her up with the arts in her blood.   Key Lessons and take aways from this episode: She was able to first hone in on her photography craft with friends and sorority sisters before she began to charge for her services. Brittany enjoys doing photography because it is all about self expression and helping others not necessarily just about the money. Don’t get caught up in other peoples businesses or Instagram feeds and try to find unique inspiration from other places or areas that are related to your industry. Favorite misconceptions about photography while discussing with amateurs is they tend to get caught on the technical aspect vs learning the artform of photography When she first started she rented out a space which was expensive and that cost carried into her charging more from her clients. Now has converted her basement into a photo studio Photography is not the technical side. The people that work with her realize she is trained in light, art and has mastered the interactions She has always called herself a photographer and doesn’t feel weird about it because she is educated in the art and studies light What's difficult about what you are doing? "I am tired, all the time!" Brittany put together an ambassador program with a peer and got 40 applicants and selected 5 girls to work with and is continuing to grow and play around with creative visions Brittany will be a published photographer in a magazine by the end of 2018.     Quotes:   "I just had to try something so, I had to get out there and shoot"   "If you are not going to do it right, don't do it. People are trusting you to create something they will love"   "I finally got to the point where I realized that my work is never going to be others work and I  focused on finding my own inspiration and creating my own style"   "You can make it work! Its all about prioritization."   "Photographers are around for a reason… Anyone can click a button but its not the technical side its all about the art, that’s where I come into play.   "Allow yourself to be obsessed with your passions"   Helpful Links:   Training video: www.creativelive.com   Learned the most from this course: http://masterbeautyphotography.com/product/go-pro-studio-beauty-video-training   Get a FREE BOOK on Audible and help support the podcast http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig   For More info on Brittany visit: www.Brittanylink.com Facebook: Brittany Link Photography Instagram: Brittany Link Photography   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below in the comments or Join Adam and podcast listeners on The Successful Side Gig Network Facebook Group!   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Cheers, Adam    If you ever wonder what I am up to check out: Instagram: www.instagram.com/adhcreativesolutions

Finding your Inspiration: Videos, Books, Podcasts
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I talk about inspiration.  I have found a tremendous amount of inspiration from videos, books and podcasts. There have been very specific things that I have found that altered the course of my entire life and I would love nothing more than to share these with you today!   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode:   Know what you want and why Do you know the specifics behind your life goals? Do you know how much you want to earn? How many people you want to meet or help?   Do you want a Jet? We don’t buy things, we buy feelings   It is 2017 and you can view life altering content on Youtube Although these are very old recordings look up Jim Rohn, Zig Zigler and Brian Tracy   My first child being born was a GAME CHANGER Prior to my first child I was selfish She made me wonder, who do I want to be and what is possible   Quotes:   "Without the decision for pie, one will never look up the recipe for pie" Earl Nightingale     Helpful Links:   Earl Nightingale- The Strangest Secret - Change Your Life in 19 Minutes with Earl Nightingale       https://lewishowes.com/blog/   https://www.smartpassiveincome.com   http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   If you want to continue the conversation with other podcast listeners and you are a Facebook user then please join us in "The Successful Side Gig Network " Facebook Group   Share the show notes at:   Cheers, Adam

Going Social w/ Lanae the "Social Networking Nanny"
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans you will hear an interview with Lanae from Social Networking Nanny.  Lanae and her team help get businesses on social media and also getting them set down the right path vs platforms that will not suit their businesses well. She was mentioned on Good Morning America which catapulted her business to the next level. Lanae is an outgoing, friendly, knowledgeable entrepreneur who was willing to share some amazing tips with us. Lanae started slanging things on Ebay when she had young children to make some extra cash. Stumbling onto men's Garcia ties she has actually sourced them and created a private label tie brand as well. Crossing items off of her bucket list owning a tie brand was one of them.    Key Lessons and take aways from this episode: News anchors and reporters were the only ones on Twitter at 5 am and by tagging news anchors she was able to snag an interview which helped her business If you put yourself out their and reach out to people you never know who may respond Don’t be afraid to schedule out your posts if you are in a time crunch You need to watch your analytics to see when your audience is online and post during those times not 10am when many people are busy at work. Go to charity events, chamber events, local meet ups because you never know where that next connection will come from Start a local coffee meetup for likeminded individuals. It was a Twitter contact turned personal friend, Mike Lynner, that sparked this introduction and interview If you are not great at something, partner with someone who is! Not setting a plan for your social media is planning for failure. Put yourself in your customers shoes in order to figure out where to be and what type of content you should share Facebook ads is fantastic for reaching your entire audience through targeting.   Quotes:   "Never downplay the value of a connection" "If you have social media icons on your website, make sure to have it open a new tab, Don't have it take people off of your website." "If there are any extra steps people are just not going to do it!" "Ask people questions and don't worry about spending hours a day"   Helpful Links:  Interested in scheduling out social media posts https://buffer.com Shorten your url if they are to long or difficult https://app.bitly.com/ Check out Hal Elrod's "The Miracle Morning" for FREE on Audible and help support the podcast http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig   For More info on Lanae visit: Social Networking Nanny.   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below in the comments or Join Adam and podcast listeners on The Successful Side Gig Network Facebook Group!

Relationships and Old Friends
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I talk about relationships. Not marriage or boyfriend/girlfriend but relationships with old friends. I just returned from an epic vacation to CO in which I was able to mix business and pleasure by taking photos and also attend the most epic wedding in Fort Collins.   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode:   Personal Networks tend to be your first clients Make sure you care about the people you reach out to Go through your facebook friends list and delete people you don’t really care about   Road trips and Minivans are awesome   Can your side gig pay for a vacation? If people have reached out to you before "Don't Forget" I was able to discount my work for friends and book a full day! I ended up shooting 4 family photo sessions for $600   At the wedding, several people talked about listening to this podcast It was so cool catching up with people and hearing them talk about listening to the podcast   You never know where business will come from Have you ever thought about mending an old relationship? Anyone may say something, recommend something or introduce you to someone who changes your life     Quotes:   "Everyone out there has their own crap to deal with and everyone is busy"   "People are seeing what you are doing, they arent always liking or commenting or calling but they are watching"   Helpful Links:   http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   If you want to continue the conversation with other podcast listeners and you are a Facebook user then please join us in "The Successful Side Gig Network " Facebook Group   Share the show notes at:   Cheers, Adam

Blog Secrets and Instagram Tips w/ Stephanie from www.HeyHonestlyMommy.com
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans you will hear an interview with Stephanie from HeyHonestlyMommy.com a candid and hilarious mommy blog and Instagram page.  Stephanie shares all about the early days as a stay at home mom who wanted to challenge herself to find a way to make money online, satisfy a mild shopping addiction and also share the hilarious moments that come along with motherhood. A blog wouldn't be a blog without a beautiful finely curated Instagram page which she talks all about as well. When she set out on this journey it was to collaborate and make money. It still is but Stephanie really likes helping people get through things she has already been through and networking with other moms.   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: Stephanie always loved writing and her family always told her she was funny even though she wasn't necessarily sure if that was true (it is!) If you're in the mood to write, find a way to make it happen. You can use talk to text on your iPhone to either dictate or make small notes and reminders about what you want to write. In the beginning it was fun just to see if she could do it! Make money online and build a following The first thing that Stephanie did was reach out to a clothing company online through Instagram and have them send her free product in exchange for photos posted on Instagram @honestlymommy on Instagram is where you can see all of her photos posted as well as witness her more candid and hilarious Instagram stories! Stephanie runs her entire Instagram through photos taken on an iPhone 7 Plus and using Adobe Lightroom Because of Geo tags on Instagram she has actually met up with several people and increased her network of Insta mommies! It's important to know your brand and if it takes doing an online course to find it it's worth it. Stephanie went through a course by World Nate   Quotes:   "Sometimes it's hard to stay at home feeling like you're not contributing."   "I am sick of people being fake and pretending like we're not all here for the same reason to make our lives better!"   On others instagram posts, "I don't want to see your laundry I can see my own laundry"   "Number one rule, family always comes first!"   Helpful Links:   http://worldnate.com http://www.collabor8app.com https://musefind.com http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig   For More info on Stephanie and Hey Honestly Mommy visit: HeyHonestlyMommy.com    Instagram @ honestlymommy   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below in the comments or Join Adam and podcast listeners on The Successful Side Gig Network Facebook Group!   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Cheers, Adam

Sleep Habits and Morning Rituals That Can Change Your Life
In this episode of  "The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans" I discuss the very important topic of sleep habits and morning rituals. You know if you are working a full time job, you are raising a family, maintaining a social life and building a business all at the same time, you are probably not sleeping the amount you would like. What if there were a couple quick tips on how to optimize your sleep and start off your morning with a bang!   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode:   Is using a sleep tracker beneficial for you? It was not for me! I used an app for over a year that would give me all sorts of data around amount of sleep, how many times I woke up and it ultimately gave me a sleep efficiency percentage. 10% you slept TERRIBLY 100% You don’t have kids, slept in a wonderful place for 9.5 hours Ultimately I was not using the data to change my behaviors Waking up and seeing a low number let's say 37% would make me think "Oh, I did sleep like crap, I feel like garbage"   Sleep temperature The ideal sleep temperature that I heard was 66 degrees  If you have a programmable thermostat you can adjust the temp to drop during the evening then increasing when you wake up Your room temperature will not impact your body temp if you have thick bedding or cozy PJ's :)   Blue Light Exposure Using your phone or tablet before bed with the blue light inhibits melatonin production which you need to make you sleepy Iphone has a night mode which limits blue light you can turn on at a specific time It is not just blue light from your phone but also your activities on your phone that may make it more difficult to get to sleep.   Hydration Sleep is dehydrating and that is a fact! If you drink too much water and have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night that can disrupt your precious sleep cycles Try to limit your intake and have a small glass 30-45 min before bed When you wake up, CHUG CHUG CHUG!   The Tim Ferriss JUICE Apple cider vinegar, raw honey, warm water Too acidic and the flavor wasn’t tolerable Only mild effects for me   Light Eliminate all light from your room I found I hated having an alarm clock visible Use electrical tape to cover little lights on anything   Morning Routine Hal Elrod wrote a book called "The Miracle Morning" and I am 21 days into the 30 day transformation challenge. So much of your sleep is impacted by your thoughts about the amount of sleep you think you"Should" get! My miracle morning looks like this   Wake up one hour earlier than you need to be up Do NOT snooze Drink water 10 min silence 10 min affirmations 10 min journaling 10 min reading 10 min work out 10 min cool shower   This routine has had an unbelievable impact on my mindset!   Quotes:   "I hate waking up early so much that I snooze so I can do it over and over again" -Unknown   "Today I am enough, tomorrow I will be more" -Adam Hymans   Helpful Links:   http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig The Miracle Morning  by: Hal Elrod   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   If you want to continue the conversation with other podcast listeners and you are a Facebook user then please join us in "The Successful Side Gig Network " Facebook Group   Share the show notes at: https://www.adhcreativesolutions.com/podcast/sleep   Cheers, Adam

Dana Royal w/ Indie Hatch
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans you will hear an interview with Dana Royal with Indie Hatch an amazing Stationary and Wedding Invitation company in Colorado.  Dana shares her amazing story from her gap year, to Art School, working doing video editing at a larger company, all while trying to be a rock star mom! She shares her struggles with office politics and the difficulties of being limited in your creativity. Ultimately being let go from her video production job and having support from them while she was able to look for other positions at a start up company with crazy work hours! Having a child and realizing after maternity leave that working at this job was not for her. Pursuing her passion and having a creative outlet was what she needed from a side gig and Indie Hatch was born.   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: Sometimes it takes time and experience to find what you really want Having a child is monumental event and often changes your career mindset Etsy was way harder that it seemed at first! Continuously having low page views inspired her to look further into Etsy Forums and get down to the nitty gritty. Make sure you have beautiful imagery of your products You have to sell a lot of items in order to make it on Etsy. You will have hard work that takes you no where but you have to persist! Occasionally one thing can easily lead to another either idea or career path Seeking feedback in forums or Instagram was huge. If you have a family: Get your kids on an early sleep schedule that has been huge Art school got me used to critique and it is important to seek it out and   Quotes:   "Phewwwwww it is exhausing!"   "Taking the extra step to nourish the side gig is probably the most draining thing that I have ever attempted"   "Even though I am exhausted it is the best decision I have ever made"   Helpful Links:  http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig   For More info on Dana and Indie Hatch visit via Social Indie Hatch    instagram.com/indiehatch  twitter.com/indiehatch  facebook.com/indiehatch  pinterest.com/indiehatch   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below in the comments or Join Adam and podcast listeners on The Successful Side Gig Network Facebook Group!   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Cheers, Adam

Episode 10: Finding Balance in Work and Life
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I talk about  the mildly cliché yet extremely important topic of balancing life with work. I am definitely not the guru or SME of this topic but I still wanted to share some of my go to tips that have been very helpful recently.   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode:   5 Tips for balancing work and life: Scheduling in advance Use a shared calendar to keep everyone informed Make sure you are supporting anyone else so they can support you Schedule out rewards after deadlines   Know everyone's goals including your own Do you know your spouse's goals? Have you shared details about your own goals with those close to you Think long and hard about what you want to achieve in your side gig   Don't let "IT" become a problem The "IT" is your side gig You can't work so much that it negatively impacts your life You know a problem because it impacts your work, social life, health and finances   Grinding causes sparks, sparks cause fires! If you plan on grinding you have to beware of problems Make sure that if you are always BUSY that you are being productive Don't work 19 hours a day if that means no sleep and poor health   Reward yourself for Achievements Plan a trip after a goal Set aside part of your tax return to pay yourself for achieving DO NOT FORGET to celebrate because as a Side Gig owner you have a lot of struggles!   Quotes:   "Every time I say yes to something, I am saying no to my kids and my wife" -Unknown   "Busily Bored- Highly productive but mentally stagnant." -Todd Henry   Helpful Links:   http://www.audibletrial.com/SideGig Die Empty  By: Todd Henry   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   If you want to continue the conversation with other podcast listeners and you are a Facebook user then please join us in "The Successful Side Gig Network " Facebook Group   Share the show notes at: https://www.adhcreativesolutions.com/podcast/episode10   Cheers, Adam

Episode 009: James Jones w/ Spark DJ
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans you will hear an interview with James Jones with Spark DJ.  James is the Co-Founder of Spark DJ, a unique new app that allows an elevated music experience that is DJ inspired. He discusses key moments in the business that him and Co-Founder, John Boss, were able to capitalize on to grow  Spark Dj. Starting off as a DJ to pay his way through college James realized that there may be a way to create an, "Algorithmic Clone" of himself. (I know, a thought that everyone has had before, right?!?) Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: It is important to test everything! It is ok if you have a target audience but learn after release and have to pivot In order to test the concept James pre-recorded a DJ set and sold it at a cheaper price as a proof of concept While working a day job you can take a long vacation in order to see what you are able to accomplish or if you would enjoy doing your side gig more. Being a self taught developer James thought after taking on investment that things would happen faster but its important to have a deep understanding of your finances and timelines. Even if you are up against giants as long as you create something and continue to learn and grow you will be successful. Make sure if your current day job offers any training, mentoring or personal development courses, take advantage of those freebies to help you learn! You can offer free products and services to charities or friends and ask them what they like about it and how much they will pay. You don't have to run A-B tests on the free user base to establish conversion rates, blah blah blah, Just ASK! How much would you pay for something like this? Don't keep your side gig a secret, it's all about how you craft your story and show people you are excited about it. When looking for a Partner it is great to have a pre-existing bond and a personal connection it helps build trust over hiring one! Quotes: "The more I did, the more I saw I was capable of accomplishing." -James Jones   "An apple tree never wonders if another apple tree is making more apples than it, it just makes as many apples as it can" -Kyle Cease   "Having a good partner is the best thing you can do, they can lift you up when it get's tough" -James Jones   Helpful Links: For More info on James and John or on Spark DJ visit: Spark DJ   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below in the comments or Join Adam and podcast listeners on The Successful Side Gig Network Facebook Group!   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review. iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Cheers, Adam

Episode 008: The 3 P's Passion, Patience, Persistence
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I talk about 3 P words that I think are extremely important for those out there pursuing dreams. Those words are Passion, Patience and Persistence. My Aunt Sandy recently stayed over at my house and she asked why I was doing the podcast. I love talking and helping people and at this time it is 100% funded by ADH Creative Solutions LLC my photography company. I do not have any sponsors. I hope that I am providing people with a lot of value and the word starts spreading about the Podcast  Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: Passion: To succeed in a new business venture you have to LOVE it. If you don't believe fully in your product or service you will not make sales Passion = Authenticity which draws people in Patience: You need to build your skills! Ever heard of 10,000 hours? Overnight successes do not exist! People have taken time to build relationships, a product, a website, their speaking skills that lead to that rocket moment! You can't change your order at a restaurant over and over so why should you be able to change your goals over and over Persistence: The single most telling factor of your success, can you fail often and continue Athletes are used to persistence because if you lose a game, you train, practice and try to beat them next game Don't let any amount of likes on social media discourage you! Have you ever quit because of discouragement?? I hope not!    Quotes:   "You never know when your soup is ready"   "You have to get use to failure, you have to get used to trying, you have to get used to people telling you, you can't!"   "Even if 50 people see a post and only 2 like it, that means that 2 people see value!"   Helpful Links: Curious about 10,000 Hours? Episode 007: David Fox - Ride Sharing Side Gigs
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I interview David Fox who shares his experiences as an independent contractor with Lyft and Uber. David has a great depth of knowledge and expertise having a masters in accounting and offers a great perspective for people looking to do ride sharing as a side gig. He shares how to get started, as well as, tips on how to maximize your time.   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode:   Lyft and Uber are a great way to make extra cash and also have flexibility! The business has changed a little bit as the companies have grown but still might be a great option depending on your situation Make sure you look into details regarding your car insurance if you participate in ride sharing Driving for Lyft and Uber can be a great way to profit from everyday drives you are already doing and eliminating those everyday costs. You may take the standard mileage deduction on your mileage which is around $.54 a mile Taxes can be handled several different ways when you are driving for a ride sharing company Being empathetic and professional is the best way to give a great experience You can get extra perks for having specific things (ski racks, car wraps, etc.) You may want to invest in seat covers. It is a deductible expense but I have learned that car seats do get dirty with people getting in an out all the time. Don't keep Dorito's for Stoners as an amenity or you will be vacuuming for weeks :)     Quotes:   "You can literally turn the apps on if you want to drive and off if you don't , that was really appealing."   "Your goal is to keep your cost as low as possible."   "You are a 1099 independent contractor not a paid employee, you should engage a tax advisor if you have questions about that."   "Your side gig doesn't have to be an ultra profitable $100 an hour consulting job but you are really just leveraging your costs that you already have and now it's not just a personal expense it is a business asset."     Helpful Links: David's Ride Sharing Links: (If you complete rides he will split his bonus with you)   https://www.lyft.com/drive-with-lyft Promo Code: DAVID17057   https://www.uber.com Invite Code: 27or2     For More info on David you can reach out on Twitter: https://twitter.com/DavidFoxHR   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans

Episode 006: Get Feedback Early and Often
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I discuss why new business owners need to get feedback early on and often. We have been trained our entire lives to act on feedback so why we wouldn’t seek it out when it comes to our businesses, baffles me! Some businesses  are made and broken because of feedback based websites and apps such as Yelp or Google Maps. There are many different ways to get feedback from potential clients and customers and I break down a couple of my favorite ways. Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: -You don't have to receive specific feedback on your product or service in order to implement. Look up a competitor and check out negative reviews they have received and see if you can deliver on others feedback. -Master the FREEBIE. If Costco can make me buy a dozen muffins because of a sample why don't small businesses give out freebies or deeply discounted products as well in order to iterate and change the product before a massive product launch. -You can solicit feedback through a survey. For ADH Creative Solutions photography sessions I always send a follow up email to clients asking them what they enjoyed and if I could improve anything. I will sometimes even take the positive feedback and spin it into a great testimonial for my website. Quotes: "If you build it, they will come. IS NOT TRUE!"  "No matter what seeds you plant, if it is the middle of winter, you won't get any crops"   For more episodes please visit www.TheSuccessfulSideGig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave us a review on iTunes and Stitcher. iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-successful-side-gig-with-adam-hymans/id1210253814 Stitcher: http://www.stitcher.com/s?fid=132283&refid=stpr   Cheers, Adam

In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I interview Shayna with EspressoEnglish.net  Shayna is an amazing entrepreneur who utilizes e-courses to teach English as a second language. She is also the host of a podcast called Entrepreneurs in Motion   Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: -The idea for Espresso English began because Shayna's students asked her to email her notes or lessons when they couldn’t make it to class. -She had to make blog posts for 6-9 months until search engines began to pick it up and gain traction on google. -It was still crickets after 50 post but had to continue providing value and having people discover and share her content. -Shayna had 4 different jobs at one time and slowly phased them out as she was able to build her business and ultimately rely on only one. -In the beginning it was $300-$700 a month that made her believe she could turn it into full time and build -She started a podcast in order to help people build a business and it was the type of information she wished she had when she started.   Quotes:   "My first product was a $15 eBook that I only sold 10-12 copies of but that’s when I began to think that this could work"   "People like learning from you, they enjoy  your style so the technology doesn't necessarily matter as much"   "I gave myself a one year timeline to evaluate how things were going"   "Testimonials are helpful to gain traction"   "I had no rocket ship take off moments it has always been slow and steady growth"   Helpful Links: Wordpress plug in: https://membermouse.com   For More info on Shayna you can visit her at: Espresso English Or listen to her podcast on iTunes   For more episodes please visit www.thesuccessfulsidegig.com   If you have comments or ideas for future episodes please share those below   Please share and subscribe to the podcast if you enjoyed this episode and leave a review.   iTunes: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Stitcher: The Successful Side Gig with Adam Hymans   Cheers, Adam

Episode 002: No Idea Yet? No Problem
In this episode of The Successful Side Gig I focus on how to pick a business idea or make sure your side gig is helping you down the right path.    The questions you can ask yourself to find out your calling: What do you look forward to doing on your days off/weekends? What do you enjoy reading, listening or learning about? What do people often come to you seeking advice for?   Is your business going to solve a problem or bring people pleasure?    Key Lessons and take aways from this weeks episode: -Don't get caught up in the how, you can learn -DO your research but just because your business idea is already being done doesn’t mean you have to quit. Is your business offering a better, cheaper, faster, closer version than competitors? -Things will not happen overnight, you will need to work consistently . Life ain't like Instagram! -Find people that excel at what you are doing and talk to them. Ask if you can shadow, what do they love most about their work? -You know deep down what you are good at and it could be a great business -Utilize tech or a notepad to capture all of your business ideas. No matter how dumb you think they may be!   Quotes: "There is a difference between wanting to succeed and not wanting to fail."
