We spoke with the Director of CalTrout's South Coast Region, Sandi Jacobson about the restoration of essential habitat for the recovery of the southern California steelhead and some of the challenges steelhead have while trying to return to their spawning grounds. It was amazing to hear about how small steps can potentially lead to the return of steelhead to the South Coast. Morgan Promnitz, Director of Fishing Business Development for Hobie, began fishing with his father and grandfather when he was 5 in South Africa where he was born. Since then he's been obsessed with all aspects of fishing and has made it his profession with the Hobie Cat company here in Southern California. The timing of Morgan's appearance in the Southern California fishing scene coincided with the dawn of Hobie kayak fishing's newest technology, pedal kayaks. Over the last 11 years Morgan has taken kayak angling and pedaled his way around the globe. We spoke to Morgan about his introduction to kayak fishing and how kayak fishing has changed over the last few decades. Morgan tells some great stories.
