SFPA 003 – Learn how to prime your client for a big upsell, before you ever touch a camera, with Kelli Bramble
Six-Figure Photographer: Kelli Bramble Location: Utah Photography Experience: 8 Years Niche/Specialty: Family Portraits Find Her: FB, Website, Email Why we think she rocks: She took something she loved, hustled, and built a lucrative business off of it.   How She Got Started Kelli realized how much she loved photography, but didn’t have a category that she was passionate about. She took a class that exposed her to different types of photography: still life, studio, and portrait. After snapping some great moments of her own children for the portrait section of the course she knew what she wanted to do – become a family photographer. Transitioning from Amateur to Pro About 6 months in, Kelli started working with her first “clients” (unpaid shoots for friends and family). From there it was just a few more steps (broken down below) to becoming a pro. The bad news is there’s no magic formula. The good news is you can do it too!   Let’s break it down: 1. Kelli found what she was good at and passionate about (family portraits) 2. She started with her own children and then moved on to her extended family and friends. By working with the people close to her, Kelli was able to do two big things; build the skills (both technical and social) she needed to become the photographer she is today and get free marketing by asking her “clients” to give her credit on social media. (This is a great way to become top of mind in your friend circle!) 3. By working consistently and putting herself out there, Kelli gained confidence and saw the impact she could have in the lives of the families she worked with. 4. Once she believed in herself and the value she was providing, she made the jump to actually charging her clients…actual dollars!! 5. After a year, Kelli started to receive inquiries from non-personal connections.   To put it simply: Find a passion, be of service to others, people will notice, and money will follow!   What Kelli is Really Really Good At My girl is obviously an amazing photographer, but there are a lot of great photographers in the world, and not all of them own a six-figure business. Here are

SFPA 002 – How to grow a six-figure photography business through your personal social media with Margarita Corporan
On this episode of Six-Figure Photography Academy Podcast, I conversation with event photographer Margarita Corporan. She’s extremely accomplished with an amazing portfolio of clients including Amazon, Nike, Harry Winston, the Tribeca Film Festival and many more.   This episode has a ton of great content! We’ll hear about: • Margarita’s Beginning and Struggles • Pursuing Passion (especially in the face of fear) • Attitude and Creating a Business • Appreciating your Clients • Using Social Media to Stay Relevant • Best Advice Ever • BONUS: We talk about arguably the best bathroom in NYC   Margarita’s Beginnings and Struggles Before her move into independent digital photography, Margarita worked as a photo editor in print media for 10+ years, but with the downturn of the economy in 2008 saw herself out of a job. Instead of wallowing, she took the free time as an opportunity to get back into what she loved; traveling and taking amazing photos of events and life. After a few months of truly living her passion she found herself asking a powerful question…Why not get paid to do something she loved?!   Passion Pursuit To answer this question, Margarita committed to really owning her passion for event photography. A huge part of that commitment was engaging her social media to grow as an individual and business person. Social media is an amazing space to share with the world what you’re working on and passionate about, and through it, Margarita was able to self-promote it in a powerful way.   But like many artists and people struggling to create a business, doubts crept in. A huge one for her was the fear of imperfection, an obstacle Margarita overcame when she came to the powerful realization (one that we could all probably stand to be a little more aware of) that “as an artist, everything is a work in progress.” There will always be something you could have done better. Another struggle she faced is fear of judgment from other professionals in the industry. In the end, she fought through it, because people support you in your passion for the most part. It is rare to find someone who fights to keep you down when you are genuine about what you love.   Attitude and Creating Business

SFPA 001 – Welcome to the SIx-Figure Photography Academy Podcast!
My name is Christian Grattan and I’ll be your host for this inaugural episode.   First and foremost:   Thank you for tuning into the first of what I hope will be a ton of entertaining, educational, and all-in-all great conversations!   This podcast has one huge goal that I think you’re going to love; helping you to get more clients, make more money, and create a business out of your passion for photography.   This episode will be a little different since it’s a solo job, but I hope to give you some great insights into who I am and what to expect as we continue down this path together.   As for me, I am a New Yorker who is proud to run a photography business (as you might have guessed, a six-figure photography business). I know the power of giving and am truly eager to get you going towards your goals. My photography life began 20 years ago in editorials and I eventually moved into the private sector. I am truly blessed to have worked with some huge brands like Vogue, InStyle, Glamour, New York Magazine, WWD, and Vanity Fair. These names got me to where I am, but what I had to do to build a six-figure business was find my niche. Believe it or not, that niche is Bar and Bat Mitzvahs! I do about 20 projects a year and pretty much have my summers free. It’s a pretty sweet gig, and I feel lucky to be able to provide a service to families on some truly life changing important days.   In a nutshell, that’s my story as a pro, and I hope you look to me as a resource, but I believe what you can truly gain from this podcast is the knowledge and tricks of others. These episodes will mainly be interviews of other successful photographers. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Hopefully, this podcast will show you a few options that others pros have used so can get your business going, your client list growing, and the cash flowing (rhyming is always good by the way).   There are two things that you can expect from every interview: 1. How the interviewee gets clients 2. What he or she is really good at   With this in mind, I have few big picture goals with this podcast: 1. Give you some actionable ideas to apply in your business today! 2. Break down seemingly complicated achievements into simple steps (this is gold, so t
