The Daemon-Cages
This week on The Siblings Cast Watches His Dark Materials we discuss episode six, The Daemon-Cages. The whole season so far has, for the most part lead to this moment. We finally get to see and talk about the station and what exactly is happening to the stolen children and why. Jess finally gets her Lyra and Roger reunion she's been begging for since episode two, Lyra does more of what she's best at, and we once again spend over half the episode talking about Ms. Coulter.  We hope you enjoy this weeks episode and be sure to follow us on instagram @thesiblingscast and on twitter @siblingscast and be sure to subscribe to this podcast!  Thanks so much for listening!  -Joshua, Jess, Kate, Caleb, and Boo (or M) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesiblingscast/message

The Lost Boy
This week we discuss episode five The Lost Boy.  Before we jump into the conversation I want to give some brief context about the time in which we recorded this episode, because I think it is important in understanding not only some of the struggle you hear at the beginning but also some of the processing throughout the episode. This episode was recorded after a week of protests across the country following the murders of George Floyd at the hands of police and the murder of Breonna Taylor by the hands of police and the murder of Ahmaud Arbery by three men for jogging. In our home state of North Carolina and in our cities Black Lives Matter protest began and like many across the country were met with escalation and force from police departments. Seeing friends and family out standing in solidarity be put in harms way, by police departments was shocking and I found myself scamming the news every night in cities I had friends in to make sure they were ok. Thankfully in my home town our protest were not met with escalating force from police and we marched and gathered unimpeded. I want to be clear that I am not trying to prop ourselves up or virtue signal or seek some sort of approval or praise I simple want you to understand why we sound very tired and weary in this episode. This was a heavy episode about a young black boy being killed by an oppressive power by having his soul removed from him. We want to thank you for listening and ask that keep these things in mind as you listen to this weeks episode and continue to fight for justice. The Spies
This week the siblings discuss episode three The Spies. We get some beautiful character moments between Lyra and just about everyone, Lyra reads the alethiometer, and some more revelations about Lyra's past, which allow Caleb to brag about his predictions.  We had a few technical issues in this episode, some people get dropped off the call and at one point it sounds like Kate is talking over Boo, but I promise she's not she wouldn't do that...probably.  We're so glad to have you on this journey and would love to connect with you on social media @thesiblingscast on instagram and @siblingscast on twitter and be sure to like us on Facebook. Enjoy the show and we'll see you next week.  -Joshua, Jess, Kate, Caleb, and Boo --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesiblingscast/message

The Idea of the North
This week the siblings discuss episode two The Idea of the North. In this episode we talk a lot about Mrs Coulter and find more empathy for her than expected. We talk a lot about trauma, being a powerful woman in a field of seemingly all men, and what shame and hurt can do to your relationship with yourself (or your daemon). Caleb mispronounces a bunch of names and starts his theory that Mrs. Coulter’s monkey daemon is actually a human assistant she turned into a monkey, with magic I guess. So yea I guess you could say we cover a lot of ground here. We’re so glad you are here, be sure to follow us on instagram @thesiblingscast and on twitter @siblingscast and like us on Facebook!
