The Screening Room S3E19 - Remembering Dave Prowse
Last weekend brought the sad news of the passing of a Star Wars legend:  Dave Prowse.  The British actor and weightlifting champion portrayed numerous characters during the 60s and 70s, but is perhaps best known for playing the iconic villain Darth Vader, as well as the children's safety advocate The Green Cross Code Man. In this episode, Rutvig remembers his many encounters with Dave over the years and the impact Dave's work had on him as a child. The book Dave talks about in the audio clip at the end of this episode is Play Safe with the Stars: Child’s Guide to Safety and used copies can be readily found online.  The audio clip was edited from this interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6AxQyBsbu8 used with respect to the original author(s). RIP Dave.  Thank you for the memories.

The Screening Room S3E18 - John Higgins

The Screening Room S3E16 - The Hero with a Thousand Faces
In this impromptu episode, Rutvig reacts (sort of) to the recent Kanye West appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast, and West's comments about Star Wars and the Hero's Journey.   Amongst the various ramblings, Rutvig recounts some early fancy dress costumes, as well as reciting passages from Joseph Campbell's book The Hero with a Thousand Faces (with little understanding of much of it).  He also tries to relate elements of the book, as best he can, to the beginning chapters of each Star Wars trilogy; Episode 4: A New Hope, Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and Episode 7:  The Force Awakens. Next week, we'll return to our 'regular format' with an interview with Hollywood (and Star Wars) stuntman (and Britain's Got Talent star) Matthew Stirling.

We apologise for the slightly poor audio on the guest's side.  Technology!  You gota love it! Enjoy.

The Screening Room S3E12 - Richard Cunningham
Host Rutvig Vaid chats with British Actor Richard Cunningham, who talks about his start in acting (you may be surprised where Richard first starting performing) and overcoming his fears performing, through to his education at LAMDA, the beginnings of his professional career in Theatre, TV and film and of course, no conversation with Richard would be complete without some stories about his time on the film Rogue One:  A Star Wars Story which, you may be surprised to learn, was lengthier than it may seem.   An entertaining and insightful conversation with a delightful guest.

In this weeks episode Rutvig Vaid is joined by filmmaker and returning guest, Sam Jeffries.  The pair deliver a comedy I mean, commentary track for the erm, critically acclaimed, underrated classic, Robocop 2!   They chat all things Robocop (and how good the *original is), Sam's love of Uwe Boll, and the colour of Robocop's helmet amongst other things.  All whilst sipping on a sweet, sweet **Budweiser.   Enjoy.   *For the record, we love Robocop 2 too!  But not Robocop 3.  That film was not good. **The Screening Room is not sponsored by or affiliated in any way with Budweiser.  Though it probably wishes it was.

But we do talk about the process and learn some things about how that incredible CG character was brought to life on screen. The article referenced in the introduction can be found here: https://www.digitaltrends.com/movies/star-wars-the-last-jedi-visual-effects/  You can also find us on Facebook here:  https://www.facebook.com/RoomScreeningThe/  and on Instagram here:  https://www.instagram.com/screeningroomthe/?hl=en  Enjoy.
