Army Veteran, and winning Miss Gilbert is a dream come true, for I have dreamed for a long time.
I decided to join the Army as an enlisted Military Police Officer, (MP) In my second week in basic training, I fell and landed on my head. After many scans and evaluations, I was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. I also had long-term and short-term memory loss and aphasia (not remembering words). I forgot who my date was for prom, where I spent my 16th birthday and so many other important memories. It was a challenge to adapt through, but even then I overcame and still was able to graduate basic training. After I left the service, I became very involved in the community, speaking about my experience in the military and advocating for our country. But after a tragic event in my life, I was left homeless with nowhere to go. That’s when F.I.S.H. – (Friends in Service of Heroes,) stepped in and helped me find furniture and money for food. I promised myself that when I was on my feet I would give back to the same organization that helped me. I moved back to my home state (Arizona) and opened my local chapter, now I can spread the giving heart of F.I.S.H. to all deserving veterans here in the valley. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paco-baltazar/support

“We as veterans bring much more to the marketplace than just being veterans of war.” Ricoh Danielson
Throughout my years in and out of the military, the main areas that stuck out to me the most were parenting and entrepreneurship. With that said, I took my story as well as other hard stories of families being torn apart from deployments and the aftermath of deployments, such as PTSD and other key elements and included it in my book, Battlefield Parenthood. I address veteran skill sets and what necessary steps should be taken to apply those skills to be a great parent. Being a veteran, we are quickly taught to do everything with nothing. I have seen veteran businesses start from zero, but end up becoming well known around the country (e.g. Grunt Style and Black Rifle Coffee). With that said, I wanted to capture not only my journey but a veteran’s journey as a whole to show that we can accomplish anything with hard work and never giving up. In my second book, The Rise of the Vetrepeneur, I interviewed business owners such as Grunt Style, American Grains, Guerrilla Outfitters, and 18 Series Nutrition. I wanted my fellow veterans to be documented for their dedication and ambition. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paco-baltazar/support

To hit more topics and a broader audience she enlisted help from two additional authors, in order to bring more value. She also has two podcast channels that are soon to launch! FIT: Fit In Transit and LIT: live.ignite.transform and website fitintransit.com. Her goal is to find ways she can help create a positive impact and drive changes in others based upon her own experiences. HOW I MADE REWRITING MY STORY A PRIORITY IN MY LIFE ~Shea Hillenbrand
Deep down inside, I always knew I was a great person, but I didn’t realize how many flaws I had in my character and why I had those flaws. So, instead of understanding how to address those flaws in my character to cover up the pain I had within me, I would disconnect from who I was. When you disconnect from who you are, you disconnect from everything that makes you who you are. When I was angry, I disconnect. When I was happy, I would disconnect. I couldn’t show love, I couldn’t show gratitude. Because if I didn’t disconnect from who I was, I wouldn’t have a chance to perform on a nightly basis on the baseball field. And if I didn’t perform, I wouldn’t have a job. I believed that If I figured out how to rewrite my story, I would discover gifts and dreams I had lying dormant within myself. And when I discovered and connected with those gifts and dreams, I could use them to help solve someone else’s problem. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paco-baltazar/support

US Army Ranger and Purple Heart recipient, Gilberto Zavala. Takes us on his military journey.
I graduated Falfurrias High school in 1998 and joined the United States Army a month prior to that. Within three years of joining, I was sent to Airborne School, where I learned real quick that my knees would never be the same, as when I went in.. The Army then, sent me to the Army Sniper School and that was not too long after arriving to my new unit. I proceeded to pursue my passion, which is precision shooting. After multiple deployments and Purple Heart , it was time for me to retire. I believe that 20 years of military service was enough. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paco-baltazar/support

Starting my own business was not easy but it was not a choice at the time. Always hustling.
My name is Alexandria, born and raised in Spokane, WA. My story began at a young age with drawing horses and apple trees every morning. I'd ask my mom to draw me a horse and I'd copy the drawing, and back then, that was my entertainment. Throughout my school years, art was always one of my strongest subjects. That was what really drove me into studying Interior Design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After that a few years passed by and became an Art Instructor. Now, I have turned my passion of painting and creating, into teaching others how to do it and enjoy it, and at the same time having an absolute blast..! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paco-baltazar/support
