The word of God creates entirely new realities; 5. The word of God always produces fruit; 6. The word of God is self-sustaining – it grows all by itself; and 7. [#016] You Are Holy, And Blameless And Above Reproach
Col 1:22 is one of the greatest scriptures that describes our privileged position in Christ. How the believer sees themselves is vital to enjoying fulfilling fellowship with God and living a fruitful life for His glory. In this teaching we look at the 3 great truths Col 1:22 unveils to us. Wa are holy - set apart for God to be exclusively His; blameless - without blemish; and we are above reproach - one who cannot be accused of anything wrong. All this is said to be accomplished "in His sight" which means "in His searching and penetrating gaze."

[#015] Living By Christ’s Strength
Practicing righteousness is by grace through faith alone. The Christian life is not difficult, hard or challenging to live in your own strength, it’s impossible. The Christian life cannot be lived in your own strength; it must be lived in Christ’s strength. Grace through faith is the operating principle of the Christian life – it cannot be lived in any other way. We are either involved in strenuous moral striving, or exercising faith and trust in Christ. According to Ezek 36:26-27, it is the Holy Spirit within us that causes us, moves us and makes it possible for us to live for God. Phil 2:13 (AMP) is equally as inspiring when it says, "[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.”

[#014] Living And Working For God’s Glory (3)
The believer in Christ is encouraged to be “zealous for good works” (Titus 2:14), “a pattern of good works” (Titus 2:7), to “maintain good works” (Titus 3:14), have observable “good works” (1 Peter 2:12). Importantly, we are to "consider one another in order to stir up love and good works." (Heb 10:24). Good works are works that are prompted by faith, motivated by love and energised by the Holy Spirit. (3).

[#013] Living and Working for God’s Glory (2)
Practicing righteousness is about maintaining good works. We look at Abraham's life again. In Gen 15, we see Abraham in a deep sleep when God makes a covenant with him. This is Righteousness Declared. In Gen 22, we see Abraham wide awake, obeying the voice of God to sacrifice Isaac, demonstrating the genuine righteousness he had been freely and graciously given in Gen 15:6. This is Righteousness Practiced. We also look at maintaining good works and fruitfulness, and Paul's call to Galatian believers to use their liberty for the right kind of works.

[#012] Living And Working For God’s Glory (1)
You are the righteousness of God! And, the God of Righteousness now lives in you! It is the most normal and natural thing for the practice of righteousness to be evidenced in your life. It is critical that we can make a distinction between wrong works and good works. There is a strong biblical call to a life of good works – good works that proceed from faith in Christ. Heb 9:11-14 is crystal clear that the blood of Jesus cleanses our conscience from dead works (the wrong kind of works), in order that we may serve the living God (the right kind of works). So to enter His rest - the sabbath rest of our salvation - works are not required. In fact, they’re prohibited. Once you have a new vital relationship with Christ, works will naturally proceed from that relationship.

[#011] Ruling And Reigning As A Believer (2)
In Adam, sin reigns over us. But in Christ, we reign over sin! Paul introduces the concept of an 'instrument.' Every musician needs an instrument to express their musical ability. Sin’s desire is to use you as an instrument and express itself through you. Through the power of grace, we are to use our hands, our feet, our words – indeed our whole life – to express the wonders of Christ, not the character of our old master, sin. The fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) is “…self-control.” Self-control in the Greek means "to have power or dominion over oneself, to be inwardly strong." Strength and self-control are by-products of yielding to the Spirit’s empowering Presence in your life. You don’t get them by trying to live for God in your own determination and independent self-effort. (2).

[#010] Ruling And Reigning As A Believer (1)
You now stand in the position of a permanent relationship of freedom to your old sinful nature. You are not enslaved to obey it (as you once were before Christ). You have had the divine nature imparted to you (Christ in you, the hope of glory), by which you have been given both the desire and the power to do God’s will. Practicing righteousness means that you now rule, reign and have dominion by virtue of the empowerment of God's grace. You are to actively recognize, continually acknowledge, and act on the fact that you have been forever set free from the dominion of sin in your life. (1).

[#009] Maturing In Christ
Practicing Righteousness is about maturing in Christ. According to Colossians 1:21-29, holy, and blameless, and above reproach is not mature. The work of the Cross presents us holy, and blameless, and above reproach. The ongoing preaching and teaching of Christ, in wisdom, with warning, presents us mature. Declared Righteous and Recreated Righteous is incredible and life-changing and.... maturity awaits! Let us go on to maturity.
