TRG Ep000 - We Out Here (Episode ZERO)
The Rhymers Guild is a podcast about hip hop hosted by Ameer Espy ('Meer) and Gamal Prather ('Maul). We realized about six episodes into recording that we didn't really lay out any background for the show or for who we are as individuals. So we went back and did it! To boil it down - we wanted to help people find new music and recreate the experience of having something personally recommended to you, which is inspired by Gamal's former roommate in Brooklyn, Gabriel Martins. Ameer is a content creator specializing in digital photography and high-end video recording and editing. His production company is called Big Yellow. Gamal is an industrial designer, concept artist and vegan entrepreneur. His design company is The Original Article and his food venture is The Instead Company. Shout to 'Meer on the sound effects and audio edit.

Ep008 - Relationships
This week we talk about relationships! In light of the #meToo movement in the wake of confirmed or alleged abuses of power by the individuals in SO MANY INDUSTRIES, we felt it important to weigh in from our perspective, because we think that many aspects of culture affect how we raise men in the US. Look - we at The Rhymers Guild respect everyone as equals, so please know THAT - and we hope you do as well. With any luck this episode will dig a bit deeper into how we put effort into approaching that ideal. This is an incomplete list since it seems grows daily, but specifically, we're talking about Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, Brett Ratner, Glenn Thrush, Charlier Rose, Al Franken, Louis C.K., Matt Lauer, Russel Simmons, Kevin Spacey, James Tobak, Ben Affleck, Chris Savino, George H.W. Bush, Roy Price, John Besh, Mark Halperin, Michael Oreskes, Lockhart Steele, John Lasseter, Garrison Keillor ...

Ep007 - Nas vs. Jay Electronica
'Meer & 'Maul hash out their respective preferences for Nas vs. Jay Electronica, - so bring y'hard hat, player. This episode features an extended version of segment the staff likes to call "Who Got Ya?", meaning - who ya got, fam? If it's not obvious to you by now, 'Maul will take the unpopular position which affirms that "Jay Electronica is WAY nicer than Nas could ever hope to be", while 'Meer rides the bandwagon per the usual in his affirmation that "Nas is better because he has more albums...".

Ep005 - We Talk Too Much
We introduce "The Do Not Rhyme List" (Just. Don't...) and we dig into The Heart Part IV, Vaporwave, Like, J Givens, Raekwon's 'The Wild', finding obscure music, Vince Staples, DvnnixTheTribe, Flight School Open Mic, Lupe Fiasco's "Game Time", why Ameer doesn't like Canibus, and why Gamal doesn't like Illmatic that much.

Ep003 - The Jesse Jackson Incident
On this week's episode we talk about what would happen if Redman and Q-Tip had a lovechild emcee together, how to give feedback to an LA-based poetry event, The Artillery Concern, the importance of diction, Gee Watts, Wu-Tang, "holler tracks" that would get the Dalai Lama hype, the value of albums, a potential Metallica rap mixtape. We'll let you listen for yourself to find out why it's called "The Jesse Jackson Incident", heh...

Ep002 - Checking In
"Checking In? What the hell IS all that???" Keeping it going for week 2, cutting our teeth, as it were. Another comedy-filled, highly biased episode where we chop it up over hip hop stylings of Rapsody, Nick Grant, Common, Jay Electronica and MUCH more! We are sponsored this week by The Instead Company, which is one of Gamal's side hustles where he sells vegan, gluten-free cookies. Ep001 - Testing 1-2
The Rhymers Guild is a platform that connects connoisseurs of lyrics in order to facilitate impassioned, respectful, perspective-broadening discourse. **Disclaimer** We're biased AF and we agree only on occasion. Yeah, so - this is the first episode and we're cuh-LEARLY still testing 1-2. A kind thanks in advance for bearing with us, player. Enjoy Ameer & Gamal choppin' it up for the first time and definitely stay tuned for Episode 2. We're lining up a superDope guest as we speak, trust ...
