In Episode 144 of The Reel-ists Podcast, Oscar and Donnie review the newest comedy "The Hustle". Starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson, this film is actually a remake of the 1964 film "Bedtime Story". Unfortunately, even with the star power from two very talented actresses, the film failed to make a big impression. The humor in the film was unable to generate laughs, many jokes feeling too forced and very over the top. There were some aspects of the film that the guys liked, but very few. Listen to hear Donnie and Oscars full critique of "The Hustle."

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu
In Episode 143 of The Reel-ists Podcast, Oscar and Donnie discuss the film "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu." Being Pokemon fans ever since childhood, the duo were very excited about this live action version. Luckily, the film did not disappoint! Oscar and Donnie agree that the film was very strong overall, mainly for its wholesome family fun and numerous cameos of Pokemon within the film. Expectations may have been a little different for the film, being that Oscar thought they'd see more battling amongst trainers and Donnie thought they'd see more Pokemon being captured. However, all is forgiven as the pair were satisfied with the overall movie. Listen more to hear what else the guys had to say!

We don’t mean to intrude but we ask you check out Episode 142 for our review of "The Intruder"! An interesting premise that could possibly happen in real life. While delivering some good scares and good performances, a lot of believability is lost after the story becomes about extending the premise instead of building on it. A clear standout is the performance by Chrissy Metz who brought a lot to the role and carried the emotional weight in the movie. Find out how this movie lands with the “Reel” score.

In episode 135, Oscar and Donnie discuss the newest comedy "Little" starring Regina Hall, Issa Rae and Marsai Martin. Although the film itself falls a little flat, the three actresses shine in their own right and carry the film. Oscar and Donnie agreed that even though many of the film's funnier moments were displayed in the trailer, it also reserved enough of them to get some good laughs throughout. However, both also agree that the first half of the film was funnier and more entertaining, while the second half followed the obvious route of attempted sentimentality and revelation amongst the protagonists. Listen to hear what else the guys had to say about "Little".

Definitely keep away from haunted burial grounds but stay for this review of “Pet Sematary” on Episode 133! Oscar and Donnie saw a private screening of the movie prior to its release. Best of Enemies
Whether you have an enemy or not, check out this review of “Best of Enemies” in Episode 134! While an unbalanced story when it comes to the screen time of the main characters, Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell provide strong performances of their real life counterparts. The movie struggles in trying to tell this authentic story without falling into the common theme of "The White Savior". Check out how this movie landed with the guy's "Reel" score.

Come fly with The Reel-ists Podcast! In episode 132, Oscar and Donnie discuss "Dumbo", Disney's newest live action film of the beloved elephant who can fly. Kudos to director Tim Burton for creating such a lovable/adorable protagonist. However, despite the captivation of Dumbo, it was not enough to ignore the films predictable plot points and lackluster setting. On the other hand, Oscar and Donnie both felt the cast did a great job with their portrayals and was one of the driving forces for the film. The guys also discuss some reasons as to why this Disney remake maybe didn't stick the landing it was hoping to. Listen until the end to hear final "Reel" scores!

In episode 131 of The Reel-ists Podcast, Oscar and Donnie discuss DC's newest film "Shazam!" Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Zachary Levi star in the superhero film, and while all three actors gave stellar performances, the chemistry between Levi and Grazer was spot on. Oscar liked that the film had a great balance of comedy and action, and felt that the pace was good. However, he felt the villain Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) was a little lackluster. Donnie liked the comedy, but was expecting more. He also felt that the final fight scene (which takes place at a Fair) was anticlimactic and felt very "kids film" in essence. Listen to hear what else the guys loved about "Shazam!"
