Babe, I'm leaving
Season finale of The Rebel Rulez podcast. The top is off. Now it's time to up the game.I am going to take a break and plan season two. This first one was a bit more haphazard; it was playing whilst exploring. From creating these I have learned tons, so now it is time to scribble down my learnings, draw some conclusions and pull together a plan for the next season. If you think I should look into anyone for the podcast, please drop me a line at hello@themagicsauce.com.Thank you for listening to the episodes; it really makes my day to hear people are getting value out of these. Feel free to share them with someone who needs to have a listen.See you on the next run. Rebel on!For the business rebels out there, check out my YouTube channel 'The Magic Sauce' as well.

Stop the LinkedInsufferable
Time to rage against the LinkedInsufferables.I love LinkedIn. It's a great platform I use to connect with communities, share ideas and make new friends. If it hadn't been for LinkedIn, Leanne Hughes and myself would never have created Virtually Possible (arguably the coolest virtual facilitation program everrrrr). But some behaviour on there is just insufferable. The incessant boasting, fragile egos, stupid titles (and I've had a few) trite quotes, humblebragging and sheer lack of originality. It's spreading like wildfire and it has to stop. It is ruining the experience and is driving good, honest people away.In this episode, let's look at some of the most insufferable behaviour and what you can do to avoid becoming insufferable yourself.Hope you enjoy this episode. "Fit in or eff off" is how some companies put it
Some company cultures make people shine, whilst others make people wither.Organisations talk about culture a lot. It's up there with other organisational pillars like company values, hopefully a clear vision and an empowering mission statement - or reason to exist.I wanted to understand more about company cultures, the changes current events have brought and who drives the changes within those organisations. So I had a lovely chat with the wonderful Prina Shah, who has almost two decades of experience coaching, consulting and training leaders; particularly focusing on company culture. We talk about what a company culture is, who owns it, who does it well, how outliers fit in (or not), and we exchange stories of those who got it right and those who got it horribly wrong.Reach out to Prina via www.prinashah.com.Thank you for listening to the podcast; it really makes my day to hear people are getting value out of these. Hope you enjoy this episode. Rebel on!For the business rebels out there, check out my YouTube channel 'The Magic Sauce' as well.

Let's Talk About Black Pete
Traditions: the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.But what if those customs or beliefs no longer hold value?Or if they come at the expense of others?Or of the environment? Or of your health? Then change them. Or abolish them even."But these are traditions; you can't change traditions!" some will say.Of course you can. Traditions should evolve. It probably will not happen without resistance, but maybe start with your own habits and beliefs. What customs and traditions do you want to change in 2021?Hope you enjoy this episode. It's Not An Adventure Unless Something Goes Wrong
In this episode, my old friend Michael Wix and I talk about adventures, rebels, kids, leadership and China. We used to work together in Beijing in the early zeros, where we worked for a company that takes people off the beaten path for cool adventures. To me, Michael is the embodiment of a rebel - someone willing to take on the norms at any day. Interestingly, once I mentioned that, he immediately disagreed (of course)."I am adventurous; not a rebel" he said. From there the conversation gets into how to bring that sense of adventure out in others, whether that is his 6-month old daughter or his corporate clients.Michael is a great storyteller who focuses on equipping talented people to work together so they can achieve audacious goals. If you are in need of an adventurous spirit, reach out to him HERE.Hope you enjoy this episode. Smash Those Time Limits With #24LETSGO
#24LETSGO is a new challenge we have set for 2021.My friend Jamie Dixon and I have taken on the challenge of tackling a monster task in 24 hours. Jamie is going to write a book and I will create brand new course. This came out of a conversation we had around momentum and getting things done. We are more distracted now than ever before, it feels. It is of course no wonder we don't get things done.We procrastinate. We are held back by limiting beliefs. Perfectionism. Or are stifled by the amount of choices around us.Whatever the reason, the best way to get started is to, well, get started and focus your time. You'll be amazed by how much you can get done.Join us for #24LETSGO and start the year strong.Hope you enjoy this episode. You Won't Believe These Ridiculous WFH Rules - Stupid Work Rules 2 of 3
Last episode we talked about a couple of stupid office rules I have experienced. For this episode, I asked my network to share stupid work-from-home rules they have experienced.Wow. Just wow.I thought these were made up at first, but no, these are very real. And very stupid.Often the principles behind these rules do make sense, but at a practical level, they can drive people nuts and get them to turn against you.So here is my countdown of 8 severely stupid WFH rules and you won't believe some of them.In the next episode, let's look at how we can break some of these rules and create a better, healthier environment for all of us.Hope you enjoy this episode. Rules That Make People Pack Up & Leave You - Stupid Work Rules 1 of 3
Stupid rules; we all know a few. But the office seems to be the space they really come to life. And often, they drive people nuts to the point where they just pack up and leave. Screaming, as they leave the office: "I AM NOT PUTTING UP WITH THIS CRAP ANYMORE!"So I decided to share with you some of the silly rules I have experienced. This is the first in a three-piece mini series:The second one will be stories from people in my network. And then we'll share a final one with ideas of how we could do it differently.Because, this is the perfect time to re-evaluate the way you do things and make changes accordingly. Half the world is still working from home, so before (and if) they flock to the office buildings, let's create a better environment for us to work in.  Here's to fewer stupid rules in 2021.And if you want to find out more about the coolest virtual facilitation program ever, go to virtuallypossible.co/joinus and join the rebels committed to rid the world of boring, uneventful and soul-crushing meetings.Hope you enjoy this episode. Why Richard Branson Is Such A Rebel
Richard Branson. Or Sir Richard Branson. Such an icon, such an entrepreneur and such a sh*t stirrer. Always has and probably always will be.I have always admired his outlook on life and how rock n roll he has always been. No, I am not just talking about the fact he signed The Rolling Stones under Virgin Records. The odds were stacked against him by the incumbents at various points in his life, but that didn't stop him. He is the embodiment of a real underdog and a true rebel.Hope you enjoy this episode.
