Simon Lyle: Build it with a heart.
The face of Portland has changed a lot in the last few years. People are moving to town and the city has become more crowded. In the the wake there is a housing crisis and the city is looking for ways that it can provide more living space. Today we meet Simon Lyle of Born and Raised Construction that builds auxilary dwelling units on existing residences. He was born and grew up here in Portland and has an interesting perspective on what the city needs as it changes. He also talks about his bike trailer sauna that he built and shares with the community.

Portland is a food city where we have access to an abundance of fresh locally grown products. A lot of us love to experiment in kitchen coming up with new comcoctions. Did you ever with that you could have more room or money for that certain tool in your kitchen but just didn't have the space for it? Well, we are luck to have a kitchen tool library here in town where you can check them out for free!! On the show today we meet with Kim and Robin who are two friends that started it. Here their journey and the things that they offer there included classes on how to roast coffee with a popcorn popper and a shop vac.

There are many services that they also offer such as classes that teach programming and other aspects of technology. I interviewed Hillary Shohoney who is the development coordinator at Free Geek. He has led a rich and interesting life. On the show today he talks about how his sister bet him to become a monk for a week and he has been doing it for over 30 years. He has a warm spirit and talks about how mindfulness can be a part of our healing journey.

Alix Northup: The Flow
Have you ever met anyone that seems like a real life super hero? Today on the couch we meet Alix who has taken the challenges that she had and turned them into a strength to help others. She grew up with scoliosis and has used the knowledge that she gained in her own healing process in order to help others with the same condition. She teaches at the People's Yoga around town and has her own massage and yoga studio. We spend time talking about what it means to her to be a healer and what prana is as well as how it moves through ones life and communities. She also leads group yoga retreats to Nepal.
